Horrible names

I favor traditional names, Michael, Joseph, Christine...I don't care how common they are. I guess I'm dull. My kids are named Chad Alexander (the Great) and Jesse, but Jesse's middle name is James, which was my macho husband's doing.

Me too! We named our DS' Christopher and Michael....ya, I know...nothing original there at all BUT I was recently at a baby shower for one of DH's relatives!! If it was a girl; they were naming her Celery (not sure how she was planning on spelling it) She sat right there opening gifts and THRILLED at that choice. :headache: Thank the dear Lord she had a boy as she named him CHAD!!!!! :goodvibes After she had Chad, I asked each of my DSon's if they liked their names and I received a resounding YES!!! :thumbsup2

Now Brock Lee....:rotfl: I actually like the name Brock and the name Lee...but certainly NOT together!!!! :rotfl:

I once worked with a girl who named her son O'D'Angelo.
I also used to work for the state's child development program. Some of the names I seen were reall pieces of work. :rolleyes1

But the one that always stuck out to me was a little girl named Lesbia.

I had a classmate years ago with his legal name of Blow Green. His parents were "hippie"-tyoes, and said it had to do with the wind blowing. Alrighty then.

There is a girl at out Burger King drivethru with a name that is way too close to Sasquatch.

I love the name Alexander. :) Basically, any of the Alex names I like. My ex I and were going to name our first daughter Alexis.

If we had a boy, DH wanted to name him James Kirk. Not too bad considering the previous posts. And we had a friend that kept wanting us to name our boy Powers. (our last name is Austin.) Fortunately, we had girls

When I lived in Florida, there used to be an OB/GYN in the Tampa area named Harold B****. (as in a small brown swimming animal that builds dams.) I swear this is true. Please don't point me!! I will remove if anyone is offended. Only he didn't go by the former Harold. He went by a shorter version of Harold. (I can't say anymore. I know I'm going to get in trouble for this.)

My mom worked with man named Clip Clop. At another job, she worked with a woman whose 3 daughters were Stormy, Windy, and Rainee.

When my friend's daughter was in preschool, she had a playmate named Lynken (pronounced Lincoln). The last name was Parke. She also had another classmate called Easton. Last name was West.

A friend recently called to say another friend had had her baby and they were naming her Alexis....I told DH that they are naming the baby Alexis and he looked right at me and said "A LEXUS" like the car.........:rotfl:

There was a girl in one of my college classes whose name was Spring Waters. It made me giggle every time role was called.

The three I can think of off hand that make me shake are all from my school days.

DusttoDawn-Name of a girl in my class

Rage-Name given to baby a girl in my class had

I think the name Alexis has been around much longer than a Lexus. I kind of like Alexis as a name for a girl. :)

 Oh I like the name as well BUT that was my DH's answer...of course the first thing that comes to his mind is a CAR!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Chaquita - a student, Mom named her after the banana
Male - another student
Cystal Chanda Leer - a friend of DD#1

I was going to name my DD#2 Sina but my husband and inlaws talked me out of it. It was my grandmothers name. They said was too much like sinus

I grew up being called Gay Fountain. Yuck! Why did my Dad so that to me. Mom told him the name was Elisabeth Gabrielle and he told the people at the hospital to put Lisabeth Gay on the birth certificate. I now go by Lisbet Gabrielle, a much prettier derivation of the original name Dad choose.

I went to high school with someone named Boston Cleveland (or was it Cleveland Boston?) It was one or the other.

My kids knew someone named Starry. That was OK but her last name was Knight. Starry Knight.

Wasn't there someone here who mentioned that their Kids name was Satan, but it was pronounced Sat-in, like the fabric?

There's a hockey player for the Pittsburgh Penguins. His name is Miroslav Satan but it's pronounced Say-Tan. It's funny to see him on the ice because the name on his jersery makes it look like the devil is skating for Pittsburgh!

When one of the teenagers who babysit me as a child graduated from HS, there was a girl in his class named Snow White and a guy named Eerie Lake.

There was a student at DS's school last year named Isis and there's a girl who goes there now named Amazin'.

When DH and I were dating, I worked in the shoe dept of a dept store with a very nice woman who had two kids named Dollar Billia (girl) and Cash Money (boy).

Down the street from us is a family with boys named Legend and Xaviddeus (pronounced Zay-dee-us). The mom couldn't decide between Xavier and Thaddeus, so she combined them. Well..it's certainely..unique.

Oh, and I remember long ago from a place I used to work there was a client with the name Suk Ing Yang. Granted, in her home country it was probably pronounced Sook, but you get the picture.

Ex L&D nurse here. It is truely amazing some of the names people give their children.
I had a lady that had a little girl named Ariel (beautiful name) but then named her son Sebastin. Now I like the Little Mermaid as much as anyone else but come on! I prayed they wouldn't have a third because I was sure he would have been named Flounder!

Also had someone name their dd Simbarella ( simba and cinderella combined)
Trust me when someone tells you your childs name is unique what they are really saying is "OMG! That's horrible! Please don't do that to your poor child!!"

Here are two of the names I recently came across in the birth announcements in our local paper:

Pirate Maxx (first and middle name)

Yorhiness (first name, and it's a boy)

What were these people thinking?:confused3
