Have apt w/doc this Mon to discuss HRT.
What should I look out for? avoid? any/all meds have side effects w/weight gain, breast cancer or heart disease?
anyone have trouble with HRT?

I started a book by Suzanne Somers and made an appointment with my Dr. I hear the results of my tests on Friday. I am hoping he can prescribe a natural hormone cream or something. I am afraid of the synthetic hormones and probably won't use them even if I should. More needs to be done for us women!

I went through menopause rather early - I was 48 - and chose not to take HRT.. I'm very sensitive to ALL medications and didn't care for the possible risks involved..

It's been 6 years now and I'm doing fine.. The occasional hot flash, but other than that, no problems at all..

Personally I don't believe in HRT - but that's a decision each person has to make for themselves..

I have been using natural HRT for about 3 years now. It is in a cream form. My local Medicine Shoppe pharamist compounds it for me. No more hot flashes!:D

Tuffcookie, that sounds encouraging and I think that will be the route I go. My biggest problem is sleeping, I only get about 4 hours a night and it makes me miserable the whole day. My Dr. talked about a compounding pharmacy for cream too so maybe I am on the right track.

and had no problems......but kept hearing about problems.......My ob/gyn said that the jury was still out on the effects of them.......so I was put on femhrt......no side effects at all........main reason for mine is because my mother has severe osteroporosis......and it tends to run in families.......ask questions ....I did and he gave me alot of info to read and said that most gyn do not have all the answers .....and like him say ......when they know more he will update us
