We have just gotten back from a wonderful stay at DW!!! The one tip I would highly recommend if you are going to MK is that instead of walking down Main Street & seeing the Castle is that you head to the train at the entrance, get on, & get off at SM & BTMRR. We went during Easter week (the parks were a mass of humanity, and not some very friendly ones either!) and took the tip, we walked on to Splash Mountain 3 times in a row & Big Thunder Mountain Railroad twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On Easter Week!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Most people, especially WDW rookies, walk down Main Street & see the castle for the first time and then generally head to Space Mt. By taking the train to SM & BTMRR you bypass the crowds, it worked like a charm!!!!:earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy:

We usually do this when we are at the Magic Kingdom. It might not be as quick as walking unless the crowds are huge, but it saves some steps on the feet, which is a big thing.

Thank you very much for this tip! :earsboy:

We had someone asking about this very thing a couple weeks ago.I didn't think riding the train would be very quick but it sounds like it's a great way to get to SM and BTM early ,especially since if it worked so well on Easter week!!!

Thanks again!

Well it might be for rookies and wdw fanatics but I'm not at Disney until I walk down main street and spy that castle we do the happy dance and walk backwards down the middle of the road sick I know- anyway one year DH tried this train thing on me and I couldn't stand it no castle bah humbug! I'd only do this on day two or three grab the magic only main street can bring! especially if you have little ones!:earseek:

Sounds like a good tip. Keep in mind, many people also stop for that morning picture in front of the castle. That wastes too much time for my taste. I can take a picture any time.

Also keep in mind that this will not work first thing on days when they do the opening character show, which requires a special train. You'll have to wait for the special train to move out and the regular passenger train to move in, by which time you could probably have walked anyway.

We actually use the train to GET OUT on busy days. LOL! If we are at Splash and the crowds are really picking up - we'll ride the train to Toontown and then on to Main Street for a quick escape. Beats trying to walk thru the huge crowds.

Altho now we try to go ony during slow times. Can't take the masses!

We just got back also, and what worked for us ( granted we had younger kids), is we went to BLSS first and walked right on that, then went fantasyland, and walked right on all those rides ( minus snow-white...lol). We then headed to SM and BTMRR, expecting to fastpass these rides and to our surprise, there was only a 10 minute wait for both. so we baby-swapped those and got right in ...we were very excited that it worked so well.. So if you go at the MK open, this might work too!

If you're planning to ride Splash or BTMRR -- definitely do them first thing in the morning

OR --- at least stop by and grab FP.... during the first hour after the park opens, you'll probably be able to get your next FP within 1/2 hour of the first (no, you don't have to use the 1st one before you can get the second ;) )

I have a DS 6 who walks slower than molasses so I decided to try this out. We hit MK just as they dropped the rope. The train in the station had pulled out with the characters on it (they danced and annouced the opening). Another train came in right behind it. The train tried to leave, but apparently people don't understand what "Please stop jumping over the gates, this train is leaving the station" means. We then managed to pull out at 9:07. Arrived at BTMRR and SM. Rode BTMRR 2 times and SM 2 times - looked at my watch and it was only 9:45. Pretty good plan. Then went to HM with no line.

Thanks for the hint!
