Hooray I'm getting married!!!

Thanks Decemberbride-this is really so helpful, thank you!
I was about to switch gears to a Swan/Dolphin package, but just got one person advise against it. I'm waiting to see if there are any more people who have done it or looked into it, so we are still considering either option.

SO! It's great to hear that guests can stay wherever. I'm sure most will end up staying on-site, but I don't want to force them since they are already spending so much money to fly out & stuff.

Do you know how much the PH discount is for guests and is there a minimum # of park days?

Yeah, I just realized that Disney doesn't supply the officiant, they just supply a list. $200 doesn't sound that bad though. & do you know how much the champagne would cost for a party of 16 (we'll have 16 adults plus 2 sober infants!)? None of us are big drinkers-just one glass each for a toast would be fine.

Last question, is it possible to do a lunch for 18 people on Disney property without going through private dining?

We wouldn't be interested in the wedding pavilion site. My DF is not a big fan of the Grand Floridian (even if we could afford it!). Right now, the Wilderness Lodge & Polynesian beach seem to be top choices.

No videographer? That's a bummer! Do you know around how much a videographer is for JUST the ceremony?

Sorry, I'm hogging my own thread! :rotfl: I just looked up the price of a videographer-

OVER $1000???? Yikes!

I think I'd almost rather use the money on that MK photo shoot thing. :)

Is that how much it costs if you hire a video person from outside of Disney?
Just minimum video-ceremony only-?

Also, can you bring your own extra champagne? My parents live in FL and could easily buy some from a place near them and bring it with them.

remember that if you're interested in Sunset POinte, which is the Poynesian Beach site... they have a max guest count of eight... correct me if I'm wrong Sunset Pointe Brides!

Also, we're buying three extra champagne bottles for our toast. They have a house champagne for about $40 a bottle and that should be enough if you're not wine snobs like my fam is. :lmao:

Your guests will recieve 20% off their park hopper tickets and I don't know of a minimum for days for the ticket, but if there is one I'd imagine it would be three. But that's a guess, not a fact! ;)

I think it evens out between the S&D and Disney Escape weddings. I would choose Disney, just because of the feeling you get when you're there. There is nothing like it!

Let me know if you need anything else! I'm having fun!

Oh one more thing you addressed... if you bring your own champagne they have a cork fee and service fee, so it comes out to even to theirs and if you bring your own. I'd just get theirs unless you're in absolute love with a certain brand and can't live without it. We're bringing one bottle that is sentimental. On the day I was born my dad bought an expensive bottle of champagne and saved it for my wedding day. So he'll pay whatever fees he needs to because of it's sentimental value.

Thanks! I'm glad you are having fun helping me out, because I'm starting to feel like a board hog, since I've been on this thing all day! :scared1: :rotfl:

Well, if it evens out, we will definately go with the Disney Escape. I'm starting to feel a little skeptical of the S/D wedding-I haven't found any testimonials online anywhere from people who've done it-:confused3

Oh, I hope this pans out!! Though I'm thinking of asking DF if he wants to skip the videographer & go for the MK photo shoot. I mean, are we ever going to watch it again?

Hmm...I didn't know that about the Poly beach site. We definately can't choose that one than-no way to choose 8 people from our bunch-8 doesn't even cover our immediate families! Is there a guest restriction for any other of the sites?

Aah, they get yah with a cork & service fee...:headache: Oh well, no we aren't attached to a particular brand of champagne-we barely drink at all! Well, it's 6 glasses per bottle, right? So, for 16 people we'd need around 3 bottles. So we'd just have to buy 2 more bottles, making it around $80 extra.

That's a sweet story about your dad's champagne bottle. :goodvibes I actually have a friend from France who's dad did that same thing for his kids!

The Wilderness Lodge site... it's for a few only as well. I'm getting married at Sea Breeze POint at the Boardwalk and they can accommodate (sp?) large groups are Escape weddings... it's beautiful, so is Yacht Club Gazebo, but your guests will not be under anything at Gazebo. They will sit on chairs in the lawn and you, DF, and officiant will be under Gazebo. It's gorgeous!

& wouldn't ya know it, the Wilderness Lodge site was my 2nd choice! :rotfl:
I'd like the Yacht Club site because it's near Epcot, so I bet it gets a nice view, but for some reason my DF doesn't like the YC-he says it looks to stuffy....he makes no sense though because he loves the Beach Club, and they are very similar. I don't know anything about Sea Breeze Point, but I think I saw a photo of it-is it in the courtyard of the Boardwalk Inn surrounded by the other hotel rooms? If that's the one, I wasn't too crazy about it for us-it didn't seem very private, I'd feel self conscious during the ceremony, thinking a guest of the hotel was peeking down watching!

I just realized that you are getting married the same month we'd like to! Are you going during the value season part of December or closer to the holidays? Right after Thanksgiving is my favorite time of year at WDW-inexpensive hotel rooms, low crowds, & beautiful decorations!!

You've mixed them up! Yacht Club is the one surrounded by hotels in the courtyard and Sea breeze POint is on the water on the actual boardwalk! It's gorgeous!

I usually go during value season in January and this is my first time going during Christmas decorations, so I'm very excited. I'm definitely going during the first week of December... I wouldn't go during Holiday season if you payed me! :scared1:

It sounds like you have already got a pretty good idea of what you want! That's exciting! I hope everything works out for you so you can have a Disney Wedding.

Woops!!:rotfl: I just checked back on the webpage with the pictures-Yup, it's the YC venue we aren't crazy about. The Sea Breeze Point one is perfect!! Wow, can you see Epcot in the background??? I would love that venue! I think DF would too. He loves the BW area. I wonder why I didn't notice it before.
Looks like if we can't do Poly beach, then Sea Breeze Point it might be! Thanks!:goodvibes

Wow, same as us! We always travel to WDW in January/early February (before Valentines Day when the prices shoot up!). The holiday decorations are just AMAZING!!! Holiday season on the other hand is a nightmare!! My parents used to bring us everywhere when we were young. I"ve heard it's much worse now, but it sure was chaotic that time of year! My DF & I don't do well with heavy crowd volume, which is why we love January. Last January, we had an unusually packed day at MK (due to dance competition groups and other groups and it was a weekend) & it was a nightmare  DF & I were so grump in the afternoon, we just weren't enjoying ourselves in all that frantic hustle and bustle!

From what i hear from other SBP brides... the swan and dolphin is the backdrop when looking direcly out across the lake. epcot is over to the right when looking to the lake... most brides don't notice and of course you can position differently for pics. caryn, another bride on here... she had her gorgeous wedding there and in her pics I didn't even notice the Swan and Dolphin... here is an Epcot resort map link http://wdisneyw.co.uk/eramap.html
SPB will be at the bottom #3 on the legend. This might give you a good idea!

I was there in Mid january this year and it was so much more hectic than usual. I'm looking foward to December though... can't wait for Osborne family lights! We arrive the saturday after thanksgiving, so it will still be busy, but we leave the following saturday so we have a lot of time after the parks clear out and kids are back in school. Our wedding is monday the 1 of Dec. so hopefully it won't be too crazy!

Ok, Disney Fairies! (That's what my DF has been calling you guys!! :rotfl: )

Here's where we're at budget-wise and I think this might be doable!! Thank goodness for that Wish Book on the Disney website and thank goodness for you guys!!!

Basic Escape Package: $4000
2 Rose Wands for bridesmaids: $50 (saw these in the Wish book & they look simple and sweet)
2 Corsages for groomsmen: $24
2 extra bottles of champagne: $80
Officiant: roughly $200
Outside Videographer ("A Moment to Remember"): $500 (for 2 hrs)
_______________________________________________________________
We are now up to a grand total of: Da Da Da!!! $4854!!!!

THAT is definately doable!
***Now, am I missing anything???***

-My mom has offered to pay for my dress, the lunch reception at a restaurant, invitations, & my hair/make up.
-AP's are included for our park tickets.
-DF says let's worry about airfare and 8 nights hotel (likely a moderate) later.

DF thinks I'm being frivolous for wanting an MK photo shoot, but I told him that if I get offered a credit card within the next 2 years or pay off the one I have, we are getting the photo shoot!

Please let me know what you think! Once I get a confirmation from the "Disney Fairies" ;) that I haven't forgotten any expenses, we can get started on our real planning and start telling our guests about our amazing 2010 wedding!!:goodvibes

Don't forget that the prices may go up before 2010...disney has a habit of raising the prices every year

Hi Perla,

Congratulations! I am also getting married at Disney in 2010. We are hoping for a May ceremony, what about you?

Hi Perla,

Congratulations! I am also getting married at Disney in 2010. We are hoping for a May ceremony, what about you?

I dont want to add any more confusion but if you are having an Escape Wedding you do NOT need to stay on Disney property for any of your stay... this room block thing on Disney property is only for Wishes weddings so dont worry yourself about saving any extra pennies for a Disney hotel stay (unless you want to) as that will not be required for an Escape package :)

Hope that helps?

Hi Nicola!

Congratulations to you! May in WDW is a beautiful time!! :cloud9: Will you be there during the Flower & Garden Festival?? Are you doing an Escape package as well?

Well, we are hoping for an early December date-it'll be value season then & low crowds & maybe with all the holiday decorations, whichever ceremony site we choose won't look so bare! (can't afford added decorations!!)

So, there is no minimum on our resort stay for the Escape???? Oh! That might make things even easier! DF was thinking we could rent points from a Dis'er and stay at a luxury DVC site for moderate resort prices!

hmm i dont know we are looking for late May (so i can also have my 30th birthday in Florida) we live in the UK you see so we will be out there for 3 weeks in total.

Sorry hun i did edit my post... unfortunately you and DF do have to stay on disney prop for 4 nights (i started off planning an escape and have moved to wishes which is what confused me) but renting DVC points is a good way to go!

December will be beautiful... i would have loved a new years eve wedding but that is way out of my budget!

As i said we started off planning an escape wedding as only have about 14 guests but from the amount we were spending, without a reception we thought we may as well pay the wishes minimum and have disney take care of everything... we're saving like mad so i understand how you feel about the budget being important.

Hi Nicola!

No worries-we were planning to stay on property anyways. Hmm.. I wonder if Disney would accept renting Dis'er DVC points to fulfill the 4 night minimum? We still haven't figured out if that's a "kosher" thing to do in general, from WDW's point of view...

Yeah, we are on a pretty tight budget-definately not rich folks here (but we are happy folks nonetheless! ), but I *think* we might be able to pull it off. & if we end up being able to afford the MK photo shoot, I will be just the happiest girl in the world!!!

Your budget must be tight as well-flying in from overseas!!!

yeah budget is tight but we are sacraficing everything we have to in the mean time to save more lol

our families are paying for their own travel and hotel stays (my DF and I are DVC members as is my DF's sister and brother-in-law so we are sorted and with both of us DVC'ers staying on-site we can easily meet the room night minimums that a wishes wedding dictates)

nothing has to be elaborate though... as long as you have the basics and each other you'll do just fine :thumbsup2
