I can't get Hoop on the DDP, but can get it OOP. Is it worth $60?

absolutely and for all ages

1) Worth it for OOP.
2) Not worth it for DDP.

NOTE: People see 2-TS for DDP and jump to the conclusion it is a good deal. Financially, it is a terrble deal for DDP. Not as bad as Mickey BBQ, but just as bad as a character meal on DDP. Folks just do not do the math. And, yes, we do joke about this when people pick up their tickets and use DDP to pay for them.

Actually, as I learned through the DIS, you can get Cat. 1 on the DDP!! You just have to go at 9:30pm. I posted a question about the best seating a month or so ago & got very educated on HOOP! ;)

We are staying 10 nights (with free DDP) & didn't want to pay OOP for any of our meals. So, we booked Cat. 1 at 9:30pm. Since we're from TX, it's really like 8:30pm. We'll just eat b-fast late, late lunch (probably snack & nap in the afternoon) & sit in Cat. 1!!!!!! :cool1: We scheduled a late day the day after, so we can sleep in.

Just FYI: if you do decide to take Cat. 1 at 9:30, some of the CM's don't know that it's available on the DDP. :confused3 I had to explain to my CM that the DISboard said it was available. He put me on hold & came back explaining that the DIS was right! :thumbsup2 Good luck & have fun either way. ;)

We alwasy go to WDW on the dining plan and this is one meal we always pay OOP...We think the Cat 1 seats are WORTH the extra money and we really do not like using 2 credits for one meal...We have done the math and it works out for us because we always need to add in a couple of meals OOP...

The show is terrific...The food is very well done....For people like my DH the endless beer is enough for him...Servers are great....This is a night of good food, great show, and even more great fun!

Yes!

I think for some people, in some circumstances, it is worth it. We are staying 9 nights, which gives us 9 TS credits. We have 10 TS credits worth of meals booked and do not want another TS meal. We may even end up canceling one we already have booked somewhere along the way. So for us it is worth it to pay for HDDR with our DDP and pay OOP for Crystal Palace breakfast.

Crystal Palace breakfast is $20.22 / $11.70 for one credit
Hoop De Doo (cat 2) is $27.50 / $13.50 per credit

That makes HDDR a better DDP value than all of the character breakfasts, I think, better than Crystal Palace lunch even.

The kids price is a better deal than most other TS (except character dinners), but not as good a value on the adult meals. Someone would have to do the math to see if overall it was a better value per credit or not.

I don't think it's fair to make a blanket statement that it's not a good value though. It really depends on the situation and the individual family, and where they want to eat, as to whether or not it's worth it. ;)

ETA: My family prefers category 2 seating over category 1. If we didn't then I would be much more likely to pay OOP for this than use DDP credits.

Oh yes.

We just went this past week. It was my 5th or 6th time, my family has been a few times also, and we had one guest with us (18 y/o) that had never been. He LOVED it and said that it was his favorite meal overall for the week. We ate at Raglan Road, 50's Prime Time, Cape May Breakfast, and Citricos. He just thought it was so much fun. We've always felt that way about it but it's great when a newbie thinks so.

1) I do not make a judgment as to whether folks appreciate it more/less.
2) But, VALUE implies economics.
3) Economically, 2-TS's for HDDR is a bad value.
. . . one TS is worth approx $28
. . . two TS's are worth about $63
. . . Cat-1 tickets are $60
. . . Cat-2 are $55 and Cat-3 are $52
. . . actually a 13%-18% loss versus the value of a TS or 2-TS's
4) For me, I do not want to forfeit 18% of my money.
5) I could use it more wisely elsewhere.
6) And, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE DINING; IT DOES COST YOU.

NOTE: Per Webster's
1: a fair return or equivalent in goods, services, or money for something exchanged
2: the monetary worth of something : market price
3: relative worth, utility, or importance
4: a numerical quantity that is assigned or is determined by calculation or measurement
5: the relative duration of a musical note
6 a: relative lightness or darkness of a color : luminosity b: the relation of one part in a picture to another with respect to lightness and darkness
7: something intrinsically valuable or desirable

I'm not a huge fan of the dining plan, but I would not use my dining credits for Hoop De Doo. The show is great but the food is just OK.

do your figures include the tip..I believe the HDD when using the DDP_ includes tip?
