taking 5 children to hoop dee doo thanksgiving week. anyone recommend a certain time (5,715, or 930), and does anyone recommend not even going?
Kids will be 12, 9, 6, 4, 2!!

We have done the Hoopde twice, the first time my two were very little and my youngest didn't really enjoy it, past time was better. Go to the early show definately with little ones Food is good.

Just went last night. It was my 5th time. I wasn't even going to go this trip but my kids were upset to miss it (they are 17 and 14). So I booked a last-minute ressie.

We always do the 5:00 show because we just don't like to eat dinner at 7:30 to 8:00 and we are always so tired.

We had a great time. It was funny. The blond with the silly laugh didn't have such a great laugh this time, but oh well.

The fried chicken seemed extra good this time. Very hot and very crispy. I did not eat the ribs but everyone else at my table liked them. They now serve mashed potatoes instead of the corn. They were just so-so.

This is really about the show and it is just so funny and they really do a great job of getting the audience involved.

We've done the HDDR two or three times per year with kids varying in age from 6 months to 18-19 year olds. We've learned that there are certain aspects of your party that you need to consider -

Have you ever been to a park (or elsewhere) where their normal schedule has been different than the norm at home; and how did they respond ? Which showtime is closest to their normal dinner time ? Do you have any other ADR's that day that might dictate what time you/they will be hungry ? Do the younger ones nap during the day when @ WDW ? (if so, this could lend itself to a later show).

I've done all three showtimes with children of varying ages (including 2 yr old triplets !) - depending on the child, sometimes the earliest show worked out best for the little ones; sometimes we attended the middle or late show and the little ones fell asleep; my personal preference is the middle or latest show. The early and middle show tend to have that "hurry up, move em out, get the next ones in" feel to it. But that's just my opinion ! :goodvibes

Don't go to the 9:30 show with young children (JMHO). We had two 8 year olds and went to the late show and by the end we had one of them with their head down on the table asleep. And we were at the front table where all the noise was happening. :lmao:

We are going to the early show in August. We learned our lesson. ;)

We love HDR. It is the first night activity. My kids will be 22, 17 and 13 when we go in December and they had a collective stroke when I told them I did not think we would do it this time. Needless to say, we will be doing HDR. We enjoy the food and the show. You just have to remember to take it in the spirit that it is meant. I would go early with the ages that you are accomidating but not worry too much about the seating catagory. We have been seated all over and never had an issue with seeing the stage. Have a great trip!

The 2 year old is young (but you won't have to pay for them to go) - but the other kids would probably love the show.

I love hearing that older kids love the show. We will be going for the first time during our October trip - its planned for our first night! DS is 17; DD is 14. It does sound like something they would enjoy . Your posts just made me more excited!:goodvibes

We did the 5:00 show last year with my 6 and 2 year old. We loved this time. After the show you can go to MK and enjoy the rest of the night.:goodvibes

We are going back in two weeks and booked the HHR again for 5:00..:banana::banana::banana:

My hubby and I went when we were newlyweds, so we decided to take our kids last summer. They loved it! My husband had some dietary issues, and they bent over backwards to help him too.
We left full and happy. I felt it was worth every penny. Go and get ready to eat and giggle.

We went last week. middle show. We had a great time. The show got out just in time to take a wagon ride and the driver stopped at the beach for the electric parade and then wishes fireworks. It was probably the best night of the trip. The kids had a great time at the show. ( so did the parents :)

We just added an unexpected extra night to our trip, and we need one more ADR. The only Hoop Dee Doo Review reservation available is at 9:30.

Please be honest - is that really too late? It's really expensive, and I don't want to waste my money if most people don't enjoy the 9:30 time slot.

We are going back again this year to see HDDR! It was the one restuarant DS, age 10, wanted to go to! He and DW sing the theme song all of the time! The show is a lot of fun and the food is really good too! :thumbsup2 I would recommend going to the 7:15 show...if that is not too late for the 2 yr old.

Enjoy!

Doug

I have done the hoop dee doo a few times. I have also done it when my daughter was 11 months ans 2 and a half and she loved it both times. I would do the 5o'clock show that way you can go and enjoy a park after. You will love it!
