Which show would you recommend with a 5 year old and 3 year old? Many thanks in advance for your help.

think of the hoop dee doo as hee haw.. they interact some what with the audience but, it is more of a show.

we did the bbq once, a while ago. the characters came out and there were lots of kids out dancing with them. i would think the age of the kids, they would like this better.

but, wait and see what the others say..

Our boys loved HDDR when they were little. We are kinda corny funny around here anyways.
IMHO... I would go to HDDR this trip and the BBQ next trip.

I am interested in what everyone has to say about this too!!

They're both good, but they're different from one another. I would think with little ones..the BBQ is a good option. I know when we went we saw LOTS of families with very young children. I would also take into consideration the time of year you plan to visit. As it's held in an outdoor screened in pavillion. There are overhead fans, and we were very comfortable going in May..but I imagine the summer months, it would be brutal. You sit family style at picnic tables. You may have to share your table with other guests. The food is buffet..hamburgers/hot dogs/chicken, corn on the cob, that sort of thing. There was a live country music band, and line dancing. Plenty of character interaction when we went..but I've heard just the opposite from others. We thought it was really cute and a good time. My then 9 year old loved it :) ..my then 13 year old...not so much.:sad2:
As for the Hoop Dee Doo, I feel it also depends on where you're seated. I personally didn't care for the upper level seating. The lower level seating was great, and held the kids attention a lot more. It's pretty loud..lots of singing and dancing along with audience interaction. Clean(it's Disney after all! ) slap stick type of humor... fun for everyone. Even young children will find it entertaining.

I actually posted this very question a couple of months ago. The ultimate decider for me was that the MBYBQ is seasonal and isn't available during the time we're going to be there. If you are going to be there in winder/early spring/late fall.. it may not be an option.

We're doing the HDDR because it is the one available in Feb. My brother and his family did it a couple of years ago and they highly recommend it.:)

We did both in 2007 kids aged 4 and 7 and they loved both. If we had to choose though we would do HDDR. We have done this show 2 times and will do it again.

We have seen it twice and would see it every time we go. The first time our daughter was 9 and this past time she was 11. She LOVES it. We all love it! It's her most favorite thing to do at Disney. She laughs none stop from the beginning to the end. So, YES I would recommend going.

Shaun and Amy

We went to both and my kids prefered hoop de doo they enjoyed the BBQ but my kids are quite shy and weren't too keen on the dancing with the characters as it was sooo busy. They liked it better near the end once a lot of the famillies had left. My kids are 4,7 and 11 and they laughed all the way through the hoopdedoo

We will be at FW Cabins in late Feb. Do they do the BY BBQ then?

Unfortunately, no. We're going to be there from in mid-late Feb as well and they only have the HDDR going on.

We have done both, but I have to say the Bar B Que is a blast! The food is excellent, in fact the ribs are the very same ones they serve at HDDR. But I just like the more open feel of the Bar B Que and the kids have a great time with the all the characters, live music, and dancing. I would definitely do the Bar B Que again, I'm not so sure about Hoop Dee Doo Review.

The BBQ was very good, but definitely aimed towards younger kids. The HDD is fun no matter what age! I will do HHD again, but not the BBQ. Although the ribs are very good...and free beer refills!
