I know it's 2 credits with dp -- I know it's hand-clapping .. But do children get to interact with the show ? Any details will help ....

Speaking from my one experience two years back, the only time the kids get to play a part in the entertainment is at the end of the show when washboards are handed out to various guests (adults and kids alike) and they're encouraged to play along. It gets...noisy...but it's fun, this 29 year old kid enjoyed it! :thumbsup2

there is not a lot of audience interaction but it is a great time. My two girls were 6 and 7 the last time we were there and I have never seen them laugh so hard before or since!

There is a lot more kid interaction (and adults too) with HDDR than with the Luau. My DDs both love HDDR.

My kids were 5 & 11 when we went and they had a lot of fun. The food was good and entertainment entertaining. I don't remember a lot of interacting but it did not seem to matter.

There is usually one kid picked out of the crowd to perform a few lines on stage at the end of the show. It is really funny. Other then the washboards there is not a lot for kids to interact with, but it is really entertaining. My kids 5 and 6 loooooved it and we are going back in Dec. It is really a lot of fun.

We were just there in June. The performers mingled with the crowd. We saw 2 performers walking past our table, one stopped and started talking to my niece. Then, she just leaned up against the pole at the end of our table until she had to get back on stage.

They have the audience wave their napkins around their head singing "Hoop Dee Doo...." repeat.

There are a lot of corny jokes and songs and the kids do really enjoy it. I thinks it's really corny and basically, I'm there for the "free" wine and fried chicken. My kids both fell asleep at the Luau, although the fire thrower is AWESOME. But, you have to wait nearly 2 hours to see him. The story that goes along with the Luau is just stupid and boring, IMO. Show me the dances and the flame thrower and call it a show. I think the Luau would be 100% better if they eliminated the silly story with the aunt and nephew.

My son got to go up on stage in February to be the "Texas Ranger".

We have been to HDDR twice and loved it both times.

Not just children, adults, too. If you're talking about leaving your seat and going onstage they only select one child to do that (but several adults). The performers do come around and interact with the audience quite often though.

Last time we went they picked one boy I would say maybe 9 or 10 years old to participate in part of the show, the rest picked are Adults

We were there in April and my kids LOVED it - it is theor #1 must return again place.

They were DD5, DS6, DS7

I think for small children there is more interaction at Mickey's backyard BBQ. with that being said we have done both but plan to go back to HDDR this year because my kids liked it so . Last year my dd 10 got to open the show.

It's our must-do for every trip. The performers walk between tables and ask for special occasions and then announce them. They pick 1 child to go onstage and help with the show. DS is determined to get up on that stage someday! They love the washboards and spoons at the end of the show.:thumbsup2

There is some interaction...they ask folks where they're from and then towards the end they pull a few people up on the stage to interact with them. Other than that, it's just clapping and singing along. Our girls loved the show! At the very end, they bring out wash boards and you can play the washboard with a spoon, so thats a point of interaction too. It's an entertaining show and I've heard quite a few people say it's worth the two credits...

My son just turned 4 when he was selected to go on stage. We also sat by the piano player and he interacted with my son alot.

My family adores this show!!!! I have been to disney ove 10 times and have probably been there atleast 6 or 7. The most reccent being this past august. We took our whole family for my parents 25th wedding anniversary and my bofriend's first trip to disney. He absolutely loved the show, although he is 19 he is a kid at heart and didn't stop smiling and laughing from the time we walked in the door. We had a party whos ages ranged from 12-52 and everyone throughly enjoyed themselves. In my opinion The washboard playing, napkin twirling, hooting and hollering show is totally worth doing!

here are some photos of the good time that we had...
