Is there a big difference between the Category 1 and Category 2 seating at Hoop-Dee-Do Review? I can't decide if it is worth changing our plans so we can sit in Category 1.
Thanks!

I'm not sure where the change from Cat 1 to Cat 2 is but we sat in Cat 1 last week and were the second table from the stage dead center. It was wonderful and we had tons of interaction with the cast! They did circulate all around the hall to interact with everyone but it seemed like if you were in the front you were almost guaranteed a lot of interaction (at least it was that night).

We do Hoop Dee Doo everytime we go to WDW and use the Dining Plan so we always get a Cat3 table. We have never had a single complaint. The actors come around and the last 3 or 4 times we have had the same table with the same waitress. We love that. Do whatever you can afford to do, if a Cat 3 or Cat 2 is what you can comfortably do then do it. Don't let your checkbook tell you no.

We did Cat. 1 last year. Were front row, right next to the piano players. I hated it.

Cat. 2 is hit or miss, IMO. There are some folks that are just too far from the stage, IMO and seems like the view would be obscured by tall folks. I'm sure, as the PP noted, there are decent seats in Cat. 2 but I know there are quite a few duds.

Cat. 3 is great. It's the upper balcony seating. The cast does circulate up there. Plus, no view obstructions and you're free to get up and use the restroom w/o feeling like you're on stage. We're going back with 4 young kids and very much look forward to relaxing in the Cat. 3 section. I have no idea what service will be like up there though.

I've sat in Cat 1 and Cat 3, but not 2.

How much of a hastle would it be to change your plans? Would you be missing anything by changing the plans?

Cat 2 is either the back of the main floor, or on the center balcony (cat 3 is side balcony). So, it is possible that switching from cat 2 to cat 1 will only get you 1 table closer to the stage. Or, it may move you down from the balcony to a front row table. It's impossible to predict.

So, if you can switch things around with ease without having to miss anything, then go ahead. But, if you would miss things, and it would be a pain to switch it around, then go with the cat 2 seating.

We sat in Cat 1 last trip and it was fine, but I really think that Cat 3 seemed the best to us. The theater is small to begin with and the characters walk around all over so chances are you can interact with at least one. When we sat in Cat 1 we were in the back and the seats were not that great as far as seeing the stage, so unless you are on the balcony in Cat 2, I would not recommend it. Even in Cat 1 you can end up near the back. I like Cat 3 because it is on the sides and up high so you can look down on the stage. When we go in Dec we are using DP to book a Cat 3.

Any category is fine.. I wouldn't go out of your way to change your plans. Honestly, I think category 3 is out favorite!

:scared1: We just reserved Cat 1 seats for December. Should I change to Cat 3 and save the money? :confused3 We might appreciate the easier access to the bathroom with three little kids. And if the view is good, maybe we should save that money for souvenirs or something? What do you think? Off the top of my head, I think it's a $40 difference for the 4 of us (baby is free.)

Edit: It's a $27 difference. I guess I'll just keep it as is, and see for myself for the future.

Car 3 is upstairs and the bathrooms are outside, only accessible from downstairs. The food is great. And there's a big reason Cat 1 costs more; it's closer to the show. I love Cat 1, but I don't like sitting in the balcony. It's a fear of heights thing.

I suppose it would depend on if you really like the interaction with the actors doing the show or not. We sat towards the back on the main floor when we went. We could see everything that was going on just fine. Most of the people that got picked for audience paticipation were more towards the front. Personally it embarasses me to get picked to do stuff like that. One man was brought on stage and was made to wear a tutu. No thank you! :rotfl: I like sitting towards the back just fine!

We sat at Cat. 1 and I was concerned about getting up and going to the bathroom. We were right in front of the stage so it would've been disruptive and obvious. Don't worry, I didn't have to go and neither did the kids but it would've been a project if they had.

With Cat. 3 seating, a trip to the restroom is much less disruptive.

The food was delicious. I think it was fried chicken and cornbread (there was a veggie there somewhere, LOL) The cornbread was to die for.

Oh, and our server only came to our table once during the meal. So, there was no opportunity to indulge in more than a glass of wine. I can't help but think he wanted to stay out of view since our table was right in the middle of the stage.

Now I am concerned, we booked a catagory 2 and there are no category 3s available on our night. Maybe I can keep checking back.

We always try to do cat 2 (have done 3). Yes, the table is all the way in the back but it is elevated like a bar table. You can see everything just fine. We love it there. I think that my main point would be that if you wanted to do 2 or 3 and save the money then do it by all means. Don't choose between doing a cat 1 and not doing it at all if cost is the issue. I would much rather spread my money out than to spend it on one dinner show inspite of how much we love Hoop!

Thank you for all of the responses! We are using the dining plan so cost was not the issue. The issue was the 9:15 dinner if we wanted Cat 1 vs. 7:15 if we wanted Cat 2. Since this is our first time I think I will stay with the Cat 2 so the late night does not interfere with an early morning the next day. If it is as good as everyone says, I'm sure we will be back and will try a different Cat. then.

we went last year for the first time and had cat 2 was at the very back table to the left but it is a high table with bar stool like chairs. we could see perfectly. Our dd also got to open the show which was a big treat to her. we loved it so much we are going back this year because my ds14 loved it and wanted to take his friend who is going with us.
