We know Dixie Stampede is closed. But, we do know that show and wonder how Hoop De Doo compares. Can someone fill us in?

And, is it worth it to pay a little more for seating 2 section?

Hoop de Doo is on a smaller scale and does not feature horses or riding. They have a troupe of about six players who sing and perform skits.

Hoop De Doo
Is so much fun and very yummy

We sat in the top part once-good view
two other right near the front

I don think you can go wrong

and it has Mickey.

That is incorrect. The Hoop Dee Doo does NOT have Mickey. There are NO Disney characters at the Hoop Dee Doo. As previously stated it is a troupe of about 6 actors/actresses who sing, dance and tell corny jokes.
OP I can not compare. I can only say that we have been to the HDDR several times and all ages have enjoyed it. The food is good "down home" cooking. Certainly not gourmet, but good.
I would recommend the HDDR
Have a Great Trip.

and it has Mickey.

Mickey, or any other Disney cartoon character, will not appear at Hoop de Doo. The characters appear at Mickey's Backyard Barbecue, another dinner show also presented at Fort Wilderness.

1) Actually, it is better to pay for Category-1.
2) Cat-2 and Cat-3 seats
. . . can have posts in the way
. . . can make you crank your neck to see the show
3) As far as comparison
. . . it is a stage musical show, not a major performance
. . . it has songs and corny jokes
. . . no horses or huge arena
4) If you want horses and arenas, try
. . . Arabian Nights (better horse show than Medieval)
. . . Medieval Times (better food than Arabian)

Dixie Stampede was a dinner and Wild West entertainment show that had its own building alongside I-4 for awhile. The company presenting it was owned by Dolly Parton. The Orlando show was shut down abruptly in January 2008 when the building was sold. There are still shows in Branson, Mo; Pigeon Forge, TN; and Myrtle Beach, SC.

We went on our first trip last spring. We really had a great time. Yes it is a tad corny but it was fun. My kids were 5 and 3 and they were watching most of the time. We were upstairs right in the middle so we could see everything. Some of the characters at different times were walking around up there talking to people. The food was simple but good. We didn't mind using the 2 credits. What we did was pick a meal we wanted to pay out of pocket for that would be the least amount of money and it worked out for us. The kids enjoyed the boat ride over as well. So it was an extra bonus for the kids. In fact when I asked my husband where he wanted to eat again this trip he said Le Cellier and Hoop de Doo!

I feel Dixie Stampede has better food and better value.
10 years ago I would have chosen HDDR over Dixie Stampede but HDDR has more than doubled in price since then.

It's not really that one can make a choice - there is no longer a Dixie Stampede show in Orlando.

You all forgot to mention the best part about "The Hoop" - it's all you can drink! In my opinion all categories of seating are fine.
