Hoop-De-Doo Musical Revue

I'm thinking of making PS reservations for the Hoop-DE-Doo Musical Revue. I called Disney Dining and they said that they do have openings on the date I was asking for. The CM told me that it would take about 45min to get there and that I needed to arrive at least 30min early. I know that it's located at Pioneer Hall-Fort Wilderness but I'm not sure how you get there? I was wondering if anyone has been to see this dinner show and if it is really worth going to?? Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks!

If you like hokey, corny jokes and barbecued food, then the hoop de doo is for you! Yes, I've been (ummm more than once!) It's great fun!
The easiest way is to take the boat from the MK - it drops you off right near Pioneer Hall. Contemporary and Wilderness lodge have boat service to there also, I hear. Thanks for the post! I think it will be lots of fun. Our family goes to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN. at least once every year (it's been a family tradition for years !!) We really like to go to the dinner shows when we are there so, I'm guessing that the Hoop-De-Doo similar to some of those.

I recommend the Hoop de doo as well. Another suggestion for getting there is to take the monorail to the Contemporary, then go out the back exit to get the boat to Fort Wilderness...it may save you some time. have fun!

I don't know where you'll be coming from, but generally I'll say that the motor launch (boat) from outside the MK is the way to go. The boat is outside the main gates (the same way the monorail and the buses are outside the main gates) so you won't need MK admission. This boat will go from MK to Wilderness Lodge and then to Fort Wilderness. When you get off the boat at Fort Wilderness, there is only one road/path, and Pioneer Hall is right on that path, a VERY short walk by WDW standards.

By contrast, if you take the bus to Fort Wilderness, you will then have to take a Fort Wilderness internal shuttle bus to get back to Pioneer Hall, or else face a LONG walk.

The boat was fun both ways, if taking boats is a unique experience for you. And here's a bit of well-known trivia. At one point, the BOAT goes over a bridge, and that bridge is over a road! They built an artificial connection between two lakes (both of which are probably artificial, too!), and that connection is a bridge. When you take a bus to MK, just before making the left turn into the MK bus complex, the road dips down and goes under an overpass and then the road rises up again; that overpass is part of the lake!!! Neat thing to point out to kids when you're on the boat -- it's a pretty unique experience to ride in a boat that is sailing OVER a street!

That's very interesting about going across the bridge to get to the other lake. I've never heard this before. As info, Seven Seas Lagoon is man made while Bay Lake is natural.

I have reservations for the 930pm show - do the boats run that late back to the wilderness lodge and if I were to valet park at the WLV and take the boat would that work too or would it be better to just park at FW and get the internal bus?

I don't know about the 2.5 yo but i thought my almost 5 yo (then 4 1/2) and he had a ball.

My just turned 3 year old son loved it, a few times he got up and started dancing. He ate the chicken and corn and clapped and laughed, our 6 year old also loved (I think he'd like to be up on the stage!). We were pleasantly suprised and will go again.

We celebrated our DD second birthday last year in WDW. We took her to Hoop and she had a blast. She was clapping and rocking back and forth having the time of her life! We don't regret seeing the show a bit.

In regards to getting there...what a chore. We ended up driving there and it was such a pain to park at WL and then take the bus to Pioneer Hall. We got there abuot 10 minutes before show time only to realize I left the tickets back in the car but fortunately they have a will call and let me get reprints there. It was the most traumatic pain in the rear thing to get to (and that was 100% my own fault) and we were all riled up that we were certain we couldn't enjoy anything. But once the show started all the bad vibes went away.

Echoing the prior posts, we took our girls 4 and 8 last year and they both loved it! It is silly, but that is part of the charm of it. Just make SURE to leave plenty of time to get there. We were at Animal Kingdom that day, got caught in a storm (not just rain, but a real storm) there was not a bus to be had and by the time one came and got us back to the hotel we were running really,really late. I cannot remember the last time I was that stressed! It seemed to take absolutely forever to get to Fort Wilderness and then to the show. We arrived still somewhat wet and quite grumpy! Not cool

Just allow double the amount of time you think it will take to get there and then have fun!

I'm staying at the A/S Sports and have a 7:15 resv for HDDR, they said to arrive 30 min early. How do you suggest I get there and when should I leave?

We've been three times and it's seriously HOKY! if you don't want to be picked from the audience, DON'T sit up front! the balcony is a safe bet. they like to choose people to work jokes on and it an be really funny. My daughter got picked last time as was NOT HAPPY! she was 10 and they were joking with her...nothing off color...but she was scared to death! anyway, they have great fried chicken, corn on the cob, beans and for desert...Strawberry Shortcake! YUM! just make sure you are hungry!
The people on stage are very talented and I sometimes wonder how they got to the Hoop-dee-doo. if you decide to go, just let loose and have a GREAT time!

We went to the HDDR in 2004, our last trip, and had no problem getting there by bus from the POFQ (we had the 7:15 seating) and when we came out the buses were waiting. I didn't realize how special that was until we went to The Spirit of Aloha show and had the last seating. When we came out the MK was closed so if you didn't have a room in a resort on the monorail you couldn't take it. We had to wait for the bus to DTD and then catch a bus to POFQ; it took a total of about 2 hours! I wasn't happy. I felt that Disney should plan better for their guests who attend these late shows.
