My mom and I just booked our August wdw vaca:banana: and now we are trying to figure out where to eat popcorn:: ..... what are your thoughts on:

Boma
The Coral Reef Restaurant
The Brown Derby
and Hoop-de-do (Is hoop a little kid thing or will two adults still get a good time out of it? .... granted, it is disney, how could I not have a good time..... but still....)

any input would be great! thanks

We loved Hoop-de-do! The kids thought it was fun and I could see DH and I enjoying it w/o kids. The food was marginal. Very typical institutional stuff but the unlimited beer and wine was super. IMO 2 adults would enjoy Hoop-de-do.

Definitely Hoop de DO!! You'll have a great time. It's a lot of fun.

Absolutely do the Hoop! It's great.:goodvibes

We like the show a lot. It is certainly not geared towards kids at all, but kids do go there and love it.

Boma is wonderful and my family goes for dinner every trip. It is our favorite and you can enjoy the beauty of the AK Lodge afterward.

We love the Hoop Dee Doo. It is loud, energetic, very silly. I can not imagine you having a bad time, unless what you have in mind is a quiet meal... THAT it is not! We also enjoy the food.

We are doing the Hoop next Friday night, when my sweet baby daughter becomes (gasp!) a teenager. We have booked a table right up front, and I hope she will remember all her life where she was when she turned 13 :)

Keep in mind that HDD is a dinner show that is meant to be corny. If you enjoy that, then you will enjoy HDD! We have seen it twice (2nd time to share with family the fun). The food is OK, not fabulous. It's worth the price when you add the show with the food. One without the other would not be worth it, IMO. HTH

With the loved it people.

Hoop-De-Maybe here....:confused3

Food is average.
Show is highly corny - sort of a Branson meets Disney thing.
Seats not worth paying extra $ so if you can't get a seat on the DDP don't pay OOP.
Atmosphere is fun - very western/down home.
Performers are quite good.
If you're in a full show it will feel quite crowded.

Kids loved it. Husband & I were glad we went to say we did. If it were just he and I we wouldn't choose it again. We'll probably go again with the kids.

Do!!
We've been three times and have always enjoyed it. Pioneer Hall where it is held at FW is very cozy and down home feeling. It is a fun interactive show with the audience. It has lots of laughs for all ages.

Hoop De DO!!! It is a very cute show, good food, and all the beer/wine you can drink. I never miss the hoop dee doo!

We have gone everytime we have come to WDW..... We totally enjoy the corny show....:thumbsup2

I've never been to the Hoop De Do and am just curious - is it related to Disney in anyway? What I mean is, are there any Disney characters or anything? Are you reminded that you are still in Disney? Or is it just basically a Western show? :confused3

DH and I have gone alone and liked it a lot. Everyone needs to see it at least once.

We have only gone to Boma and Hoop Dee Doo. Hoop Dee Doo even though it is very expensive is great. Food is good but the entertainment is excellent.
None of us were impressed with Boma. It was ok food but again the Animal Kingdom lodge is pretty to look at.

I agree completely (we are more home cooking kind of people) except I don't feel that HDDR is VERY expensive. You've got to figure, it's dinner AND a show. I don't feel that it's any more expensive than anything else at Disney.

I have never been but plan on going to it on our next trip. The Brown Derby was real nice. A little fancy for kids our DS was 2 when we went but would go again with kids. He got MM mac and cheese.

We must be the complete opposite. Bomas was excellent! The food is a great way to experience something from another culture while still having the conveniance of the comfort foods. The ambiance is great and truly has a great disney feel with an african touch.

Hoop dee doo was a total waste. I grew up in KY so I know corny and I love country things. However I could not believe they charged that much for food that was no better than Golden Corral. The alcohol (if you want to call it that) had to be the cheapest out there. The show was long and I kept looking at my watch for when it would end. I kept thinking after the show that I paid to see this while I could go into the park and see a show that was 10 times better and it was included in my MYW passes! I guess that is why disney is so great it has something for everyone, but in my opinion (which is apparently the minority) save your money for a nice dinner and go see the Lion King at animal kingdom.;)
