honolulu for a year

Congratulations!
The Hale Koa is nice and centrally located... right next to Hilton Hawaiian Village.. PRIME Waikiki Location! :)
You should be able to find some type of housing.. I am not sure how long you can stay at the Hale Koa. Hec, you can always spend some time over at the cottages at Kanehoe Marine Corps Air Station.. right on the ocean too!

You will be there for the best weather.. rainy season is ending now.
Enjoy the fresh papaya and mango!!
Aloha!

Well,we just found out today (friday) that he starts his new assignment next week. We leave Monday! The contract is for 6 months with a possible extension. Our 3 DD's will be looking after our house so we don't have to worry about that. Right now I'm busy making list after list.

We are going to spend the first 3 nights at the Hale Koa (a military resort similar to the Shades of Green) while we look for something more permanent.

I sure am going to miss my 2 DGS's (4 & 1) but they are already planning to come visit.

I'll try to post some pictures after we're settled.

Good luck with your assignment :thumbsup2. The best advice I can pass on is to respect the people, respect the culture and you'll be just fine. That was advice that a friend of mine (who was born and raised on Oahu ) gave me when I moved to Hawaii. I found that taking an interest in the people and the cultures here really helped, as did becoming involved in the community.
