not sure where to post this and i can't find a HK Disneyland forum.

has anyone ever been? If so did you enjoy it?

Hopefully going to Hong Kong next year and was thinking of going for the day.

Thanks! :)

We went to Hong Kong Disneyland this past summer in July. We really enjoyed our day there (you only really need a day, it’s a pretty small park). The focus is definitely more on the shows. The only real thrill ride is Space Mountain (which was pretty cool – great sound system!). The funny thing it that the rides were mostly walk on (I think we did Buzz Light Year 3 times in a row, walking straight on each time), while the shows all had big line-ups (especially the Golden Mickeys). The other big attraction was It’s A Small World, which was very popular, and the Jungle Cruise. If you can do the Jungle Cruise after dark, definitely go for it!

We actually stayed at the Disney Hollywood Hotel using our DVC points, which gave us park tickets for the length of stay. The Disney hotels are very expensive compared to other Hong Kong/Kowloon hotels, so I don’t know if we would have stayed there if we didn’t use our DVC points. The hotel was fun, though, with lots of character interaction (photo opportunities with Stitch, and Goofy dressed in swim trunks actually in the swimming pool. He was actually walking through the pool with my daughter under one arm and another little girl under the other arm!).

If you are staying somewhere off Disney property it is very easy to get to Disney by subway (It has it’s own subway station and Disney themed subway cars). We actually used it as a base for touring Lantau Island because of the easy subway access.

I have some pictures on the Dis Photo Gallery here.

Have fun planning your trip!

thanks!

as it is very small i wasn't sure if it is worth doing but i want to go just so i can say that i have been there.
is there a haunted house ride at the end of main street?
is it also to weird to have a mountain behind Sleeping Beauty's castle? I wonder why they chose to put such a small castle in?
Is there the disney atmosphere there?

i will go check out your photos.

It really is fairly small, but what is there is done extraordinarily well. Everything is very charming and lovely. The character interaction is fantastic. The castle is quite small but the setting is gorgeous with the mountains in the background. There are certain little touches that make it very unique and special, like the spectacular Jungle Cruise. As elsewhere in Hong Kong virtually everything is in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English so there's no language barrier.

If you don't have much time in Hong Kong, skip Disney, but if you do have time to spend doing other things in Hong Kong and you are a Disney parks lover, Hong Kong Disneyland is very well worth a visit especially if you are going during the slower season when the weather isn't too hot and the lines are shorter.

We went to HK DL last year. It was really fun, but as others mentioned it's smaller than the other DLs as they haven't yet added all of the lands.

There is no haunted mansion currently in HK DL. The haunted mansion ride will be Mystic Manor once the Mystic Point land opens. It will be a completely new attraction built off the trackless ride tech used in Pooh's Hunny Hunt.

I didn't find the hills behind the castle to be distracting. The made a nice backdrop to the castle. Hopefully, they will stay undeveloped.

The castle is a copy of the one at DL.

Totally. Be aware, however, that you will face cultural differences. We found that other guests do not have nearly the same definition of personal space that we do. You will find yourself bumped and jostled. Don't expect an 'excuse me'. It's not coming.

While you are in Hong Kong, go to Hgong Ping. It's a must see, in my opinion.

(I broke one of my wife's tchotchkes that she bought in Ngong Ping, so if anyone is going there and wouldn't mind picking up something for me, I would appreciate it. I will, of course, pay for the item and shipping.)

We went to HKDL two years ago for my DD's 8th birthday. I'll post some photos tomorrow :).

I plan on going sometime after 2013, once Mystic Mannor opens.

Hong Kong DL would be a once in a lifetime trip, so I would want to experience what will proably be it's best attraction.

We were there last April as part of a 2 week trip to mainland China and HK. It's small and you can pretty much see/ride everything in 1 day perhaps 2 tops.

It was fun but I wouldn't make a special trip to go there. We had a free day in HK and this was DD's pick.

I actually was ready to leave after a few hours. It just doesn't have the same feeling as DL or WDW. Also, I don't mean this as disrespectful of the Chinese people but they don't have any understanding of personal space. It was tiring having people pressed into me while trying to watch performances and even in some cues.

The train to the park is a lot of fun though.

I went last November and loved it! Here is the link to the DISBoards Hong Kong Disneyland forum: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=179 and here's a link to my photos from the trip: http://www.flickr.com/photos/7411850@N04/sets/72157625536761444/. I think it's my second favorite park (after Disneyland). It is a small park, but the resorts are wonderful - be sure to go to Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel for Disney Dim Sum - and you can easily get into town by train. It's less than a half hour by taxi from the airport, too.

DH was just there a couple weeks ago. He took a day from a business trip to go, so he went alone.
He wouldn't do it again until more of it is completed.
I think he only spent 1/2 day there.....no lines.
