Hi everyone!

I've been reading here & there, and seen that a lot of you say that you've gotten a lot of Freebies & little extra's for your honeymoon.

Tell me what they were - I'm curious :earsgirl:

Cheers!

Chantal

The best "extra" my DH and I got last September was the "Congratulations!" and smiles from other WDW goers and CMs. Also, we had an awesome waiter (Oscar) at Yachtman's Steakhouse, who made our first night/big night out very memorable. At CRT, we were given the champagne glasses, an extra mug, pixie dusts, and best wishes.

At GF, we reserved a water view and requested a view of MK. I called two days before we left and thought I had the perfect room on reserve. When we got there, it turned out the CM had not actually held the room. So, the first night we had no view of MK and woke up early the next morning to put our request in again. We were then moved - in the end it was a great room to see Wishes every night.

:wizard:

I'll tell you , but please don't use the information to get your hopes up!!! :teeth: Our honeymoon was in 1992 and, while I certainly didn't expect the things we got then, I for sure wouldn't expect them now with all the changes and cutbacks.

But here goes: We were booked into GF standard view. Ended up with a lagoon view dormer room perfectly facing the MK. We didn't even ask at checkin. All I did was, when we booked, the CRO agent had asked us if the trip was for something special and I told her (note that she asked me, I didn't tell her -- it probably mever would have occured to me at the time to mention it). The CM at check in just said "Congratulations, here's your room."

We got gifts in our room every day. It was so nice, it was almost embarrasing. We got free GF fanny packs, fruit and champagne baskets, flowers, a trip journal. We also received a gorgeous framed print from Beauty and the Beast and a nice Mickey mantle clock. Those two items alone were incredibly generous and still have pride of place in my home today. We went to Victoria and Alberts and were seated at the Chef's table without having reserved it --- we had just made a regular reservation. This was in Sept., so I guess things were pretty quiet and they had an opening.

They really knocked us over with all that was done for us. But like I said, I would never have expected it. My expectations were a standard room and a week at WDW. I don't know if they were this generous with everyone at the time, or if the staff just had nothing better going on that week and just lavished us with attention. :rotfl: But it made for some fond memories -- I just realize it was a once in a lifetime thing and when we go to WDW now, for whatever special reason, I just don't expect anything. Whatever happens that's "extra" is magical, but I don't ask for things and I don't expect them. In this way I'm never disappointed.

As a future Disneymooner (Getting married on October 1 and disneymooning the 3-9th) I too asked a very similar question about 9 months back here on the boards. I quickly realized just as the last poster said, DO NOT EXPECT ANYTHING!

I have made every request under the sun, and my fiance and I are going to be wearing the ears probably almost every day. But again.. IM NOT EXPECTING ANYTHING!

Who knows, we are going at the end of value season, we might get lucky.

Well we went on our honeymoon, and like TiggerificTigger said, getting the "Congrats" from everyone was really nice. Some of the freebies and such we got were:

6 Free pins from CMs in our resort gift shop, free frozen margaritas in Mexico (EPCOT), free ice cream desert in Mexico (If you get a chance, try it...it's delicious), a certificate for a "Magical Moment" at the Crystal Palace (signed by all the Pooh Characters), our own boat on the boat ride in Mexico, one whole car of empty space in front of us and behind us on Spaceship Earth, free fastpasses from a CM for the first showing of It's Tough To Be A Bug, ...

That's all I can remember right now. It was quite an experience!!

As Disneefun stated it is never a good idea to base one's expectations on what others have been given. Many times it depends on what time of year you check in, how full the resort is, how tight is the budget for your resort.

Also I agree with her that simply letting CRO know that you are on your honeymoon and not making alot of special requests is probably a better plan.

Disney is more into sprinkling surprise pixie dust and less about granting requests.

I wanted to say one thing about my trip report I posted. When you see all the extras we got I will say that this does happen but not 100% of the time. I will also say for those who are reading it and thinking all those things happened because of my web page that this was only the second time we stayed concierge and we had only met two people the previous year who at that time did not know us very well and also my web pages were created that same year so they did not even know about the web page when we visited for our honeymoon….so YES that can happen to anyone.

I also want to say that I have changed my mind about the Yacht Club and I feel that I would return to it someday.

Aloha

Steve

Way back in 1993 on our honeymoon at the Beach Club, a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of wine were left in our room, with a note of congratulations from the manager.

Hi all,

I do not expect anything really but I was curious to see what everyone got - that's all. I'm not putting my hopes up - marrying the love of my life is special in itself....and to top it off, we are staying at WDW for 11 days!!

How magical can it be? :-)

Cheers!

Chantal

Steve--I think that your proposal brick may have accounted for some of the extras. POLY staff might not have been aware of your website but it's certainly possible word of your special brick spread.

More guests are celebrating special occasions, birthdays, anniversary's and honeymoons. Even more guests are celebrating near those occasion or just lying about it.

Be happy with whatever extras you get.

We got married at the Wilderness last week. We stayed there for the entire week. And we didn't get one thing. I wasn't expecting anything either, but it would have been nice. I mean, we could have gotten married anywhere in the US but we chose the WL. Because we love it, not because we expected them to do anything for us. But it would have been a nice gesture.

When we checked in we got a lousy room. It smelled horrible and the view was of generators. We asked twice to be moved and we were not. The next day I went to the fron desk and ask, and we were moved but we had to pack up and leave our bags with Bell Services and recheck in later that day. A real pain but we did it.

I left $5 a day for MouseKeeping and didn't get a single towel animal.

I love the WL, I really do. But I was kind of disappointed. :confused3

We didn't expect anything and got some nice extra's. Mousekeeping was good with some towel animals. All the congratulations were wonderful, we got a free chocolate souffle at Shula's and a free chocolate lava cake at California Grill. The best gift came from a CM named Dean in the Magic Kingdom, we had our wedding ears on and he picked us to be the Grand Marshalls in the parade!

We got married in 1991 and spent our Honeymoon at Disney and got nothing, it was booked as a Honeymoon but we got nada! I know people have gotten alot of freebees but nothing for us. We went back 2 years later for our anniversary and another nada.

We had Disney magic at other times due to "other" situations.

Hopefully you will receive "additional" Disney magic on your Honeymoon!!!

We expected NOTHING.

We got:

*Upgraded at the Beach Club to a water view
*A FABULOUS dessert for free at Artist Point
*A congratulations banner and balloons on our illuminations cruise
*a LOT of congratulations from guests and CMs alike
*RIDICULOUS amounts of toiletries (I'd take them as a souvenir, and our mousekeeper would leave them in BULK quantities. My wife had to tell me to stop! LOL!!!!!)

I was happy we got what we did, and would have been pleased with nothing. I was just happy to spend the time with my wife at my favorite place!!!!

I guess I am not sure what the brick had to do with it. The year we got engaged we got not only some extras but upgraded to concierge for free and no one knew about the brick or the proposal since I did not tell anyone. Also there are many proposal bricks around the TTC and Polynesian so I guess I am not seeing how the brick had anything to do with anything or how that would make them do special things for us.

Upon checking into POFQ on my Honeymoon last July I had a gift basket from the WDW florist. It had chip n dale pretzels and winnie the pooh chocolate among other things....

After house keeping the first day there was a card signed by Cinderella and Prince Charming congratulating us on our wedding.

At our dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse we got free desert with "congratulations" (or something like that) spelled out on the plate.

At MGM we were given by one get one free on our drinks and cookie purchase at some little bookshop/cafe.

Too many fast passes to count from CM's!!!

We were wearing the mouse ears so we also received lots of congratulations and some singing garbage can started singing the wedding march and harassing us :) which was a little embarassing.

I couldn't have asked for a nicer place to honeymoon. We had a great time.

We got so many congratulations and best wishes from Cms and other guests which was wonderful. As for freebies, we were lucky enough to get free desserts and drinks at many of our meals, discount at the spa, balloons and card in our room from Mickey and Minnie, manager of one shop gave us a free ornament of bridal mickey and minnie, upgraded water view for our honeymoon at CSR, lots of free fast passes for rides, and probably some other stuff. We didnt expect anything extra so we were very suprised. :)

My wife and I were at Beaches& Cream on our honeymoon, staying there at the Beach Club. After we were done our meal, the waiter(a REALLY cool buy), came out with a bottle of whipped cream and a balloon for us to take!! We were a little shocked(I mean this IS Diseny), but it was pretty funny. Needless to say, we ate the entire can! pirate:
