My fiancé and I are having a hard time deciding which Disney resort we should stay at for our honeymoon. We originally thought the Polynesian because we really liked the atmosphere of it and also because we plan on getting married at Sunset Pointe so it just seemed like a better choice. However I have been looking into prices and it’s expensive, hopefully when we go there will be some sort of promotion that is offered but who knows.
We had not looked into another resort until today.

When we heard the weekly wedding Podcast and Lurkyloo mentioned the vacation club rental website we knew we had to check it out. The other resort that we really like is the Bay Lake Tower. The room would be way less than the Polynesian and it seems nicer. We just can’t pick between the two! I understand that if we stayed at the Tower we would save money that we could use to make our honeymoon more romantic, but we just don’t want to regret not staying at the Polynesian because it has been the one place that we have always wanted to stay at. Help! Which place would you guys pick and why? Thanks!

LOL - I had to comment because we are getting married at Sunset Pointe on Oct 12th and are staying at Bay Lake Tower the first two days of our trip! We are then moving over to the Contemporary for the remainder of our stay. We have never stayed at either but I will do a TR with pics. Oh, we booked MK view at both.

We chose Bay Lake and the Contemporary because we prefer modern hotels with clean lines and my DF has always wanted to stay at the Contemporary. We like staying on the monorail (we stayed at the GF last year and he stayed at the Poly back in 2000) and we wanted the MK view so we can watch the fireworks from our room (so romantic!!).

I don't know how long your honeymoon is, but one thing you might consider is a split stay so you could do both. We went a bit nuts and stayed at 4 different resorts, but this allowed us to take advantage of the lower points requirements at DVC resorts during the week (we rented points) and then stay at the more expensive non-DVC resorts on the weekend. We saved our free night at the Grand Floridian for last.

So one thing you might do is just spend the last 2 nights of your honeymoon (or the 2 on either side of your wedding) at the Poly and switch to BLT for the rest. Or, considering that you can easily take the monorail from BLT to the Poly for the ceremony and that the rooms at BLT are newer and nicer (if smaller) than those at the Poly, let me put in my vote for just staying there the whole time! :teeth:

I have been following your trip report! :) I am so looking forward to the pictures and all of the details!popcorn:: Thanks so much for responding! What did you think of the Poly when you stayed there in 2000?
I just want you to know that I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy for you! I hope that everything turns out great and that you have a magical time!

Thanks lurkyloo! Now we are leaning more towards BLT. :thumbsup2 We want to stay for a week and are budgeting ourselves for that. The prices on that website that you mentioned make a huge difference in our plans. BLT with an MK view is cheaper than a garden view room at the Poly. The only way we would stay there is if there was some kind of promotion.
I also want to let you know that you have been such a great help for me with this whole wedding planning process. I don’t plan on getting married until next December but I already feel prepared because of all the info on the boards.

Thank you so much, it's coming up quick!!! I didn't stay there in 2000, my DF did but he says he had a great time and it was an awesome resort. He said he didn't have a lot of money back then so the resort was a splurge but even the most basic room there was nice. He did say he liked it better than the GF as it was more "laid back".

You should check out the resort section of this site, there is a thread for every one of the resorts complete with pics and lots of details. DF says he thinks there have been renovations since he has been there bc the pics on that thread look different than he remembers. :confused3
