I am just now starting to plan a Disney honeymoon for sometime in 2014, likely either in May or in September. I have been to Disney several times before, but onsite and offsite, but have never been the primary planner of a trip! So this is my first time booking everything.

First of all, I'm wondering what resort recommendations everyone has. I think we will stay in either a Deluxe or a moderate, depending on how much financial help we get for our honeymoon and what the rates are for when we go. I have stayed at CBR, BC, and the Poly in the past, as well as at OKW on an extended family trip. From what I remember, I think any of the first three would be great honeymoon resorts, but it's been awhile and I'd love to know what other resorts people recommend.

Also, I've done a little research into discounts, and I'm wondering what kinds of discounts (if any) I can expect to receive in either May or September.

Thanks for your help in advance! Excited to see what advice everyone has.

For our Disneymoon in August we are staying at BWV on rented points with a Boardwalk view. Renting points is much cheaper than going through Disney.

We picked the Boardwalk bc it's walking distance to EPCOT and HS. We plan on eating dinner in EPCOt three times. Also, there are a few bars on the Boardwalk which provide a decent nightlife. We were between BWV and BCV and chose BWV bc we felt it had a little more of an adult feel to it.

I'd think about where you plan on spending the bulk of your time and what appeals to you.

In the end I think all of the Disney Resorts have a lot to offer and you will be pleased no matter what. Enjoy your planning and good luck with the wedding.

We will be honeymooning in August, and decided to do a split stay between the Yacht Club and Polynesian. That way, we can plan our park time/dining around whether we will be close to Epcot and HS or on the monorail.

We typically stay value or moderate, but received a great bounceback offer during our last trip, so we decided to splurge!

We honeymooned at CSR, King room water view Cabanas, couldn't have been more perfect. Wine in a hammock by the lake, beautiful resort. Not many kiddies around ... just awesome.

We honeymooned at AKL. It was so tranquil and secluded with deep jewel tones for the decor. I definitely think we made the right choice for us.

Our stay at CBR felt equally secluded and tranquil, but it was definitely a different kind of feel (more tropical and festive). If you go that route, you'll want to pay for a king bed room, because the alternative is two doubles (not what you want on your honeymoon).

I've always wanted to stay at the Poly, but the main thing, besides cost, that has turned me off to it in the past is the fact that there are no king sized beds in standard rooms. You have to pay for a suite to get one. Otherwise, it's two queens everywhere.
At most of the Deluxes, it's only a request, but at least it is possible.

In general, you should pick whatever appeals to you. If you really liked one of the places you've stayed, then it's probably a safe bet. We recently stayed at POFQ, and I didn't like the "feel" of the resort at all. I'm very happy that I didn't take the recommendations that people gave me to stay there on my own honeymoon (everyone said it's romantic because it's small...I found the opposite to be true). The POR side suits my tastes much better, and I found it to be much more tranquil, when we wandered through.

September is probably more likely as far as discounts go, and the room rates tend to be lower to start with.

We did a disney cruise for our honeymoon. It was awesome. We stayed at poly for a few days before we went on the disney wonder. It was romantic and we had an amazing time! You can't go wrong with Disney!

We're honeymooning at Yacht Club Club Level in October. We love the whole Epcot resort area (we're DVC owners at BWV), so we knew that's where we wanted to be. We love the location between two parks and all of the wonderful dining choices at our disposal. Congratulations!

We honeymooned last August at Coronado Springs and loved how quiet it was. Much different than staying at Value.
