I'm reposting this in here because I didn't originally see this topic available :)

I'm going to Disney 5/30/05-6/7/05 for our honeymoon and we're staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter...I can't wait!!

What are the chances of getting an upgraded room or any other special treatment to make the trip more magical??

I haven't been to Disney in 5 years and a lot has changed I'm sure, I've never stayed at this hotel either, how does it rate to the other hotels on property?

Thanks! ::MickeyMo

Tell the front desk when you check in. They may do something special for you. I can't say what chances you have because I haven't gone on my honeymoon yet so I don't know.

Alot of people seem to love the PORFQ. I've heard its very romantic.

My H2B and I will be honeymooning in April and I am hoping for some special pixie dust to come our way also. My TA made sure it was noted on our reservation so they will know B4 we arrive. We are staying at CBR. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's where I stayed when I first went to Disney in 97...I had a great time, I remember seeing a ton of newleyweds there, they all had the bridal ears on, it was so cute.

I can't wait to get my own set in May ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

Have a great time!!!

Michelle - Make sure they note on your reservation that you are on your honeymoon. Also, if you make and PS, make sure to tell the CM when making the PS that its your honeymoon, and also tell the CM when you check in at the restaurant. Just don't go expecting any special treatment. Some people have gotten many 'perks' while others have only gotten some heartfelt congratulations. Wear the bride and groom ears and you'll never know what's going to happen. Some of my favorite moments on our honeymoon came when we were least expecting them!

I'm going to Disney World!! June 28-July 4 for my honeymoon. My (will then be) newly wedded wife has never been before and I've been twice, but many years ago.
Staying in the Wilderness Lodge, got the romance package or whatever it's called..lol
I guess I don't really know what to expect other than fun fun fun, but I'd like to know where to eat and save on the budget, as well as what kind of night life to expect. We are going to see Circ but other than that, I don't really know what to do.
Great site by the way.

same situation with my fiance, it'll be his first time, I want to make it truly magical for both of us. Congrats on the upcoming wedding :) There's a ton of great suggestions for things to do on these boards as I'm finding out as well, just take a look around ::MickeyMo

We are going for our honeymoon and staying at WL a couple nights as well before we change resorts and due a disney cruise. There is some much to do for night life. Try Jelly Rolls (great time) at BW and there is also so many choices at Pleasure Island.

I'm delving deeper into this forum... just wanted to post and get some info. Is travel insurance a good idea? From disney i mean

I got travel insurance through AAA(Disney) for the Disney part only, I didn't bother with airfare since we got a great deal on that (direct Rochester -> Orlando $373 for 2 people on AirTran) this way if anything should happen we're not losing a couple thousand dollars if that were the scenario. It was only $44 a person, so it's not terrible

We had our wedding and honeymoon at Disney December just gone.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and when we told them we were on our honeymoon all we got was "thats nice". We asked about a king bed room and were told that if we wanted it we would have to pay an extra $15 a night so they weren't very congratulating at all.

However, we dinned at The Garden Grill at Epcot and were presented with a celebration cake and made a fuss of and also at Artist Point we were given glasses of champagne which was nice.

We wore our wedding ears around the parks but didn't get any perks im afraid.

Most importantly have fun and enjoy yourself, if you are lucky to get any perks then they are a bonus.

Lisa

I don't guess I'm real worried about bonuses and whatnot. If they come, great, if they don't... no biggie.

Look at all those abbreviations!!! lol It's like a whole new language!! ;)

Anyways, thanks for the welcome and responses... I'll search around a bit more and ask about what I don't find.

We honeymooned in WDW this past May. Our travel agent informed them it was our honeymoon on the reservation and we told them again when we checked in. We were very lucky to be upgraded from a standard room at CSR to a King with a water view-an amazing view of the lake at CSR. We could watch the sun rise-it was very romantic. They also had a balloon with a card and photo signed by Mickey and Minnie.
We were also given a lot of extras throughout our stay b/c we informed restaurants that we had ps's at of our honeymoon. We got a free appetizer at Fulton's crab house and free desserts at a few restaurants including California Grill (we got engaged there).
It helps to mention its a special occasion and hope for the best. We never expected anything more than a "Congratulations" and we ended up receiving a lot of extra magic!!

I havn't seen any itinerarys posted around. What is the layout for a typical week at Disney? say, if you have a pass to the 4 parks.
I'm trying to figure out what/when to do stuff. I figure, from past experience, it could take two days just to visit some of the parks in full. ie. two days at epcot? two days at WDW... that sound right or am I totally off track? :confused3
I've read that we will more than likely want one PS per day. They sent me a packet w/ a few forms to fill out and they will make an itinerary for us. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

I would say for Epcot and MK definitely plan two days each or more if you are able to. For AK and MGM you should be able to see a ton just by spending a day their. I have my itinerary all planned out for my honeymoon and wedding, so if You want any tips feel free to PM me.

that's awesome!! we got the MYW with dining so the free dessert stuff wouldn't be necessary, I'm just so excited and adding a little magic always makes things better.

I was watching the Perfect Proposal show on TLC this past week and they had some disney propsals, how sweet is that!! Now I wish I was having my wedding at Disney as well, but the H2B shot that one down fast :confused3

Just a tip..........My wife had been a CM for several years prior to my meeting her and to leave out the boring details...........We ended up married and honeymooning at WDW (WL)...........we had no interest in wearing those Mickey Bride and Groom hats.........but DW knew to just "casually mention" that we were honeymooning to pretty much any CM that we ran into.....as a result, we definitely received special treatment.............

Like, when we showed up for our PS at CRT, we received a window seat to view Fantasy in the Sky.....they also presented us with two champagne flutes with the CRT insignia on them when we were leaving.......The front desk people at the WL had a gift basket placed in our room for when we returned from the parks one nite......and the special treatment at the Hoop was pretty cool....................

Point being.................make the 'casual mention' of your honeymoon.....If I recall, I think the girl at the pool bar at the WL even provided an "on the house" frozen drink for the both of us, one day..........

My H2B and I will be Honeymooning at WDW June 26th -July 2nd. He has never been, so I am trying to make everything especially magical. I think he is finally starting to get excited though... I don't think he quite understood what Disney was all about until he started looking at the Guidebooks.

We are opting to stay at Pop Century to save money, as we likely won't be in the rooms THAT much, and I'd rather have more to spend on extras.

This is only my second post... I'm so excited to have found these boards!!
