Honey, I Shrunk the Checkbook, Really final, some Feb shots, 7-27, pg82.

and was doing so when the Macon bypass split came up. I didn't see it, nebo went LEFT and we toured Macon for the first time. see how much trouble my new cell phone caused? (he hates it)

I know, I know , I've been a naughty nebo. If you're thinking how can he just ignore us like this for this long, heck with him, you would be correct. Who does he think he is, anyway, ZZUB? (heh)

I'm sorry. Even when we first got home and I typed we made it, I had a new record of 413 emails to go through. And this is with the spam filter on!

But I've been making a lot of phone calls, sending out resumes, drinking, emailing resumes, drinking, mailing resumes,,, then drinking some more.

Yes, I could sit here and type for 5 hours, telling you about what was going on, and what we found out.

If I wasn't drinking.

heh

We weren't down there looking for jobs this time, just trying to figure out where we might want to live, eventually. And, to be honest, at first it was kind of depressing. We started checking out all the Rental Communities, you know, to stay at when you first get down there and then figure out where to buy.

But they were not cheap. About 800 a month, more if you have pets.
I told Diane, "hey, Patches is getting old, a little rat poison and,,,,,,"

She didn't see the humor in that.

(Wait, sidebar number one) We were at MK one day, and at the smoking section by the castle, an older couple came up to us and the guy asked me if I would take a picture of them.

I said, "Sure". And I took the camera off my neck and turned it on.
Diane said, " Um, Steve?" I think they want you to take their picture with their OWN camera."

"Oh, heh heh" "Right"

Actually, this really did happen, but it happened on a trip last year that I forgot to mention. What brought it to mind was a Drabble cartoon in the newspaper the other day, that was very similar.

Anyway, the problem with renting down there is that they want to see an income, and when you move down there, obviously, you're not working yet.
We did notice that yes, there are a lot of areas we, or you, don't want to live in, just like up here.

And then we saw the sign.

It was on 192, right below Disney.

Homes for sale from the 50's!

And we thought what the heck, let's check it out.

Well, it turned out to be false advertising.
Two homes were actually in the forties.

It's a manufactured home subdivision, with 3 heated pools, tennis, basketball, volleyball, raquetball, shuffleball and bowling ball courts. Well, you kn9ow what I mean. Plus a huge clubhouse with a ballroom, sauna, hot tubs outside, you name it, it has it. Everything but golf.

Did I mention it is around two lakes?

Yes, you lease the lot, which is cheaper than the taxes we pay on our town house up here. You DON"T pay property taxes. We fell in love with it, and it's maybe 15 minutes from DIsney. Check out the web site, vistadellago.net .

I'm afraid I can't really talk any longer concerning my job search, believe me, eyes are everywhere and some eyes I prefer closed. If this sounds melodramatic, you're probably right, but I can't take chances now.

Anyway, ,,,, (ooh, ooh, sidebar number two), Never fall asleep at the wheel on the interstate, it's not a good thing.

At least not until you have the cruise control set.

Heh
No, not me. But on the way home, on 75 just north of Ocala, on a clear sunday morning about 7 am, I looked in the mirror behind me, and not a car was in sight. Up ahead, I could just see the back end of a weird rounded type of trailer.

It was in the right lane, I was in the center lane.

It took me about ten minutes to catch up to him, we were pretty much going the same speed. I have the cruise set about 74.
Suddenly, it seemed we were gaining on him pretty quickly, I was going to mention it to Smidgy, but she was asleep.

Sure enough, when I got almost next to him to pass him, he came into my lane. The only vehicles on the road, as far as the horizon let's you see, and now he needs my lane. I swung to the left, Diane woke up, but he was still coming. I floored it, now half on the shoulder, and I think the reflectors in the road woke him up. Once clear, I looked in the mirror, and now he's heading back into the right lane, like nothing happened.

I felt like flagging him down and letting Diane give him a good piece of my mind! To her credit though, she didn't scream like I expected. All she said was, "Well, that was interesting" and went back to sleep.

Ok, I had meant to get to some call outs, thanks again everyone for the "welcome home". But it sounds better when Disney says it at check in.
Kinda funny. After all the times we've been there the last year, I expect them to Mean it when we arrive. If not, I critique it.

"More Feeling."
"Put your heart into it".

Ok. Time to get a little started here.

Yay!!!! You're home! I've been going through Nebo & Smidgy withdrawls.
Oh and Hey!!! Are you sayin I'm ocd or somethin?:rotfl: You must have been talking to my doctor.

Since I was so bored with you being gone I had to book another trip of my own and start another pre trippy................maybe this time you can keep up.:thumbsup2

That a girl, Cheri. And hey, YOU were the one that first said you're OCD.

I just think you're nuts!

49 days?!?! Dude!! Are you now regretting not investing in an annual pass??

Oh, swell, another Melinda henchman. Yes, dear, If I had known last may what I spent now,,,,,,

Ah, enough said.

What Lexi said!!

Great, now the cast members are chastizing me for spending so much.
( Ah, fun with editting)

Welcome Back:yay: So, are you moving...Did you check out Polo Park like I tod ya too? Did you apply for a job at Disney. Smidgy, my mother told me they are always looking for bartenders at the bar in Wilderness Lodge, the one right outside Artist Point...just sayin:rolleyes1

Janet, just cuz I drool in my sleep sometimes, doesn't mean I am quite eligible for the "over 55 " communities. Geesh, she's got me with one foot in the grave already. And furthermore, I've never even bought a pair of "Depends" in my life!

I get them for Christmas.

My first impulse is to start right in on you two, give you both a good tongue lashing, and ground you from going anywhere except where your computer is.

But, being the trained parent I am, I know to give you a big squeeze cause I'm so relieved you are ok and home and safe.:goodvibes

I know the good stuff is coming. I'm just a little impatient and out of my own reserves.

Monica, I missed you too. I do hope to get another real chapter up here soon, maybe tomorrow.

:yay: Welcome Back!

I'm so happy you two are back safe and sound!

oh bugger
I forgot he told me to stay in the truck, stay in the truck, stay in the truck....::yes::

Thanks Ladymar. You got a good laugh out of me. Sometimes I wonder if anybody reads the callouts. But please, stop changing all the buttons on the radio to country stations!

YOU'RE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just in case you couldn't tell i am so glad and relieved that you and Smidgy are back and not stranded somewhere on the side of the road for the last week.

Can't wait to hear more of the insane adventures of Nebo and Smidgy!!!

Thanks Lee lee. I'm looking forward to getting back to writing about them, although sometimes a "sane" adventure would be nice.

Welcome Home!

Well? Are you a new Imagineer? Is Diane a new "Aunt" at 50's Prime Time?

Nope, Wendy, she's gonna be a Grandma there.

Oh oh, did I just say that out loud?

Vista Del Lago is very cool. Been there several times visiting friends:thumbsup2

And the fun part is - if your moving works the way you want... and my moving works like I want... NOT ONLY will we live about 4.7 miles apart, BUT Rhonda and I will drive RIGHT PAST you on the way home from Disney work every day!!! :rotfl2:

Pretty sneaky nebo, peaky sretty.

So, you are going to be living down there when the baby is born?

Does that mean there's only one house left in the 40's?

ok, one more go-around here:

Yeah - you guys are back...and think of all the snow you missed...hope you were able to get into your house without a 20 foot drift blocking the door. :goodvibes

Tracy

Tracy, evidently, it snowed a whole bunch when we were gone, and then got warm. And then it got really cold, in a heartbeat. My car that was left in the driveway has still got ice and snow frozen to it. And Jaime never came by once.

wow welcome back!!! i missed your stories. 49 days, amazing! whoever said you need an annual pass is right!

Wow! An annual pass. What a concept. I never heard of one. Golly Gee, wish I had known, I might have saved a few bucks, or 600!
Melinda, I'll get you for this!

OK, Nebo. I've read your posts on other trip reports, but this is the first time I've read one of yours. I just sat here and read all 29 pages in one sitting!

I have to say that your Bill Engvallisms are awesome! My DH and I were just watching his latest Comedy Central special last night, so I was dying. "Here's your sign...."

I agree with everyone that you should move to Florida and become a CM. That will solve all of your problems -- being unemployed and missing Disney. Plus, it will give all of us someone in the World to visit when we're there!

:

Hi Jodi, welcome aboard! To be honest, what would solve all our problems would be to win the lottery. But we have really, really, rotten odds of winning it.

Because I never play it. Well, actually, I guess the odds are about the same.

Welcome back Neebs and Smidge! We missed ya!
More days at Disney = goodverygood :thumbsup2

My advice ~ do not be tempted to figure out how much you've spent on tix and then compare to APs... sometimes ignorance really IS bliss! ;)

Now, see that Melinda? That's my kind of girl! Thank you lbaw

Yeah...welcome back Nebo and Smidgy!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes

Glad to hear you made it back safe and sound. Nothing like a trip to The World to get one out of the winter blahs.

Ok, now that is out of the way...
When are you going back?????????? To work there, that is!!:cloud9:

Can't wait to hear more...........................:surfweb:

Hey Wallaby, the way things are going, it may be quicker than you think.
I'm hoping to be placed in the "Nitwit protection agency" , and be one of the people that looks at the monitors inside of Splash Mountain to make sure nobody is jumping off the ride on the way up the hill like happened to us once.

Welcome back, but I think you forgot to do something on your way out of Dodge...

And that was just the snow we got BEFORE you left!!! :sad1:

Yeah, howboutdat! bummer.

Quick hijacking here - but what way did you take to and from for all the trips? Any problems with the route? Still trying to talk DH into driving in September.

Tracy

Tracy, unless there is major rude construction, 65 is the quickest way down. then to 24, over to 75, and you take the new Western Way backroad into Disney.

janet, believe it or not, we are too young for polo park. really, we are not 55 yet (only feels like it) I'll let nebo tell you about our searches. (and my new home I fell in love with, darn, wish this place here was sold... better get on that!)
Oops, Sorry:guilty:

And yes, you very well should be. Diane hasn't left the bathroom in 3 days now, crying her eyes out, smearing notox on her face,,,,,

:worship: This is me begging for forgiveness...

Ok, I know you're from Philly, and you have family in Florida, but how do you know so much about these places? C'mon, Janet, give. Were your friends renting in there, of does one live there? Don't make me come over there!

Actually 57 through Illinois is the same distance and it's a lot less congested than 65.

And isn't Western Way GREAT????? I love it, especially the spot where you can see the Swan and Dolphin, Spaceship Earth, The contemporary, The Castle. From that point it's only about 15 minutes till your there.

Watch the old men too - I had broncitis and was coughing at a Bingo once, and this "gentleman" whipped a cough drop at me!!! Of course, we don't have to worry about NEBO throwing meds away, do we? :lmao:

No, but watch the elbows...........and your nose.

Nebo, I TOLD you about the only 40 year CM this year being a machinist (yes, they make well above mininimum wave, even at Disney). You can actually make a decent living, until you are ready to retire, and then you can be a Jungle cruise captain or a greeter at a resort, or something.

Glad you are home safe and sound.

Oh, and look at my ticker. My very first cruise

Thanks for the link to Vista Del Lago!

Good news! I'm moving there too! It looks like a great place to live. And how much is the lot rental....they don't mention that...out loud.

I hate cold weather.

Hi Nebo and Smidgy!!!:wave2:

Just had some free time and thought I'd catch up on your awesome trip report. Sounds like another wonderful trip you just took. Good luck with the house and job hunts. pixiedust: hope you get your dream jobs and dream home real soon.

I'm going to stay caught up this time, I know I am. :upsidedow

Awesome! We can all be neighbors!

For as much as my DH hates the idea of living in Florida (he actually likes it cold) he said they are so reasonable he could keep our house here in NJ *and* afford to have Vista del Lago just for me~ pixiedust:
