Honest question: why can't I add a water cup to my mobile order?

Yet again, I forgot to request water when I picked up my mobile order. I had finally found a table when I realized it, and I was by myself today so I had to wait until I finished before getting back in line to get some water.

I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but I need to drink enough water for medical reasons.

If I could have added water to my order I would have had water without relying on my memory. Which might be bad (I honestly don't remember, but my wife says it is, so...)

Why aren't we allowed to do that? Tap water is free and Disney doesn't mind that we drink it with our meals, so why not let us order it with our meals?

because they dont want the staff wasting their time on orders containing nothing but free water ,or 1 kids meal 10 free waters.
If you have medical reasons for needing it bottled water is always available to buy and you can bring it in with you ,we all have to be responsible for our own medical needs.

Couldn't they limit the water to a side-order, like fries, one per meal? In fact, I'd substitute water for fries if that were the only way to do it.

Hmmm, maybe they could allow people to add a reminder to the order pickup screen on our phone? I'd see the reminder and ask for the water. That would work.

To the OP, I understand your dilemma. I often forget to ask for water when I pick up my mobile order. We solos are usually concentrating on "I hope I can find a place to sit". Then, when we sit down, we remember that we'd forgot. My thing to forget is usually condiments, napkins, or silverware. Then I'm afraid to get up and get the stuff, since I have had my newly-gotten meal cleared away in my brief absence.

I've noticed that they have no problem suggesting that I add softdrinks to my order.

But, all kidding aside, would it really be so terrible if the app could optionally remind people picking up their mobile order how they could get some water to go with that food? Most doctors would agree that everybody walking around all day in hot, humid weather needs to stay hydrated for optimal health. And drinking more water is an excellent way to do that. Again, if the app can remind me to buy flavored sugar water, than why not remind me to get free, unflavored water, too?

You can just add water as a drink? I didn't know that! I'm going to try it next time.

As for the snarky responses: I spend a lot of time on Reddit, so I was fully expecting it. Actually, Reddit would have been much worse. I'd probably be downvoted like 50 points (or Karma?) at this point! Tough crowd!

Probably because they want to sell you a soft drink or water bottle. While obligated to give you a free glass of water when asked, they don’t want to publicize it and consequently, many guests probably don’t know they can ask water and buy a soft drink instead.

Is Disney legally obligated, or is this a corporate policy that Cast Members are obligated to follow?

You could have put down your tray and gone right back to the pick-up window to ask for a cup of water...no need to wait in line again, or eat your food with no water to drink.

I was once told they are legally obligated but I never checked. And only at locations that have tap water such as restaurants or places that sell fountain beverages (not at carts or kiosks with only bottles for sale.

We do mobile order 100% of the time where available and this is how we always do it. The busiest places have huge trays already filled and ready to go. Just ask.

If all you want is a cup of water just go to the pickup area and ask for one.

I went to the pickup area. There was a line 5 guests deep. I asked the Cast Member, and she confirmed that guests need to wait in that line like everyone else even if all they want was water.

Where were you eating? I've gone to the pick-up window for water many (in the 100s) times and have never been refused.
