honest people what will you do?

Tell.

You don't have to say anything about the other employees' checks - in fact, chances are your employer has a policy against discussing pay issues with coworkers. Just tell your boss YOU were overpaid by twelve hours.

Tell -- you'll have to pay it back eventually.

When DH was activated and deployed to Afghanistan, his employer kept paying his salary. I didn't question it and thought they were being nice. Got a phone call one day, and was told I needed to repay nearly $23,000. Fortunately, I had put it in savings (very depressing to take out!), and was able to do so. Would have really messed us up if I hadn't saved it.

Wow, I am so glad everybody feels the same way I do. Honesty is the best policy. It always is.

I agree with everyone else. It is always best to say something as soon as you notice it. If you don't say something and it is noticed later, then the people involved might wonder about your honesty. Plus, a mistake is easier to correct when someone mentions it as soon as it has occurred.

We all make mistakes. I would want someone to tell me as soon as possible if I did something like that.

When I first started my current job, I didn't get paid - something about a payroll page being missed (i.e. nobody turned the page :rolleyes2). Next pay period I got underpaid*. Next time, they corrected it... but despite my accounting background, I was SURE I'd been double-paid. I had to meet with my boss twice (I brought it to his attention) before I understood :umbrella:

*Yes, I really like the job - otherwise, I would've been gone by the second paycheck!
