My undergrad degree was in accounting and it is very useful in my practice.

I think the study would be more interesting and useful if it showed which degrees are and aren't used, and which degrees are being used indirectly after earning a higher degree. That's info I would have liked to have had as a high school sr.

Rajah, I haven't voted on the poll because I think what you mean by the first one is that I'm actively working in the field of my degree. But even though I'm a SAHM I feel I learned so much in college about things that didn't even have to do with my degree. Does that make sense? On the other hand I do have an education degree and that does help with the volunteering I do at my children's elementary school. So does that count as using it?

Good question, Bananiem. I'd consider having a degree in education and working with kids (whether paid or volunteer) to count.

Undergrad degree in International Relations with a minor in Romance Languages

Currently working in the IT/IS support field.

So I do have a degree, and I don't think I am using it. (Unless you count the ONE customer from Mexico I spoke with last year, since I was the only one in the office who could communicate with him)

I voted.. and I am currently attending college, and working in the field I am interesting in....

My major is elementary education, and I work at a middle school .
Right now I am undecided on whether to go for a straight K-5 certification, or pursue the special education certificate. If I persue the special ed cert, which specialty? I was leaning towards reading specialist, but not certain fo that now., ESL looks interesting, same with learning disabilities...


Thank goodness I have time to decide.

I'll second that! Have a degree in Communications - Radio/TV/Film and don't even begin to use it in my daily job. But... I do use it in my hobby (and wishful career), so there's that.

I have a degree in Computer Information Systems, which after 12 years is totally useless and obsolete . I work at our church as the Pastor's secretary, so if keeping track of everything on the computer counts, then I guess I am working in my field. LOL.
