Anyone use home remedies to clean their face? Im presently using Olive oil as a moisutrizer and its feeling great! Wondering who else out there is using stuff from the refrigerator/cabinets as a beauty treatment??? Do share!!!

Sugar Scrub!

What I do is wash my face with a cleanser first, and then take a small scoop of sugar in my hand, and wet it slightly, and scrub my face with it! It feels great!

There is always the mayo hair treatment... although I have never tried it!

I use virgin coconut oil. I massage in a tablespoon or so, and then wash it off with hot water and a wash cloth. My skin has never been better and it smells terrific.

I order ALL of my face products from Garden of Wisdom, they are all handmade with no yucky chemicals or preservatives. For moisturizing at night I use a combination of Jojoba, Camelia, Chardonnay Grapeseed and Cranberry Seed Oils. I mask with glacial clay mixed with honey, distilled water and sometimes yogurt. Alot of the other stuff I use is all natural but I don't mix it up myself, I buy it from them already mixed, such as my daytime moisturizer which has:
deionized water
coconut milk
emu oil
watermelon seed oil
emollient esters
galactoarabinan (polysaccharide)
glycerin
allantoin
optiphen (all natural preservative)

Love this stuff and so does my skin! :)

I wash my face with honey every night. My skin is smooth, not dry and just looks healthier since I've been doing this.

Thanks for the other ideas.:thumbsup2

I just wish there was a natural homemade sunblock..I use one every day, but I hate putting those chemicals on my face, even though it works.

I have a family member who is a 100% natural, hippie minimalist... she makes her own sunblock.

(Of course, it works to ONLY prevent sunburn, not necessarily the stuff that prevents cancer, like the chemicals in sunscreen do.)

She "harvests" clay in her backyard... apparently, if you dig, EVERYONE has clay soil under whatever your topsoil is... Anyways, she takes this clay, manipulates it with her hands and body heat, removing anything that is in there, making it smooth. She adds essential oils so it smells nice, and then puts it in a jar.

She slathers it on her nose, cheekbones, shoulders, her baby boy's bald head, her DH's neck, and any other area that sunburns easily. Of course, you are then clay covered and slightly brown, but it works for her!

Zinc Oxide is a great natural sunblock that you can mix with moisurizers to make a home made sunblock. Here is a basic recipe that gets good reviews. :) Sunblock Recipe

How do you wash with honey? I'm interested in this one.

I was just about to ask what the OP uses for a sunblock. Natural things are all well and good if they are cheap, effective and really work. However, some people mistakenly believe if it's natural, then it has to be good and better than chemical products. That's not always the case. Arsenic and cyanide are both "natural" ingredients, and they can kill.

All ingredients that go into cosmetics, made by manufacturers, have to be approved by the FDA to be cosmetic grade ingredients. That usually means they are purified and sterilized in such a way as to kill any harmful bacteria and microorganisms.

As I stated, "natural" does not always equate to safe and healthy.

I do not use any sunblock right now. My mineral make-up has spf in it.

Oh it's so easy! I buy the jar honey, any brand that's on sale. The jar is better than the squeeze bottle because honey "crystals" form around the opening to use as an exfolient. :thumbsup2

I wet my face, put some honey onto my fingertips and rub it all over my face and sort of massage it in for about 30 seconds, just like a regular cleanser. Then I rinse with warm water, no cloth needed. It comes right off. Just make sure to have your hair pulled back so you won't get honey in it. It really works, I promise!

When I was young I used to use regular witch hazel as an astringent instead of all the other products out there that had fragrance which would give me migraines and make me break out.

I think unscented petroleum jelly is the best moisturizer out there and I believe it is a natural byproduct of oil.

Other than that I follow both my grandmothers' advice and use nothing on my face but soap.

When I was young I used beer on my hair as a clarifying rinse and used to make my own mayo conditioner with a few eggs and olive oil stirred to an emulsion.... I had a whole lot of hair.

I'm trying to use apple cider vinegar as a toner (heard about it online) but I don't think I can stand the smell. I've used Crisco as a moisturizer for my feet. I've also read online that Preparation H is a great makeup primer.
