Homemade Cookies on a Plane?

I would assume they have decided not to prioritize airports since there are so many. it is interesting as their stance against citrus is so strong, and an infected orange arriving by air would be just as bad as one arriving by land or sea. I don’t fly into California very often but I wonder if they use agriculture dogs in arrival areas looking for produce. Florida does. They are mostly beagles and wear little green coats. Some are USDA and some are Florida Department of Agriculture. Sorry, OP, I know this is OT from your question and I did not mean to derail it.

I remember flying to Hawaii in 1972 and London in 1976 and the flight attendants used to spray inside the plane when you landed to kill any pests before they would open the doors and let you deplane. They don't seem to do that anymore

Can't say that I experienced that...but gotta say I'm glad it isn't done. Who wants Raid (or something similar) sprayed all over the airplane cabin where I'm waiting to deplane. Ugh! It probably wasn't all that effective and may have caused more problems than it prevented.

I doubt that it was Raid. More likely some "human-friendly" aerosol spray.

I don't know, things were a lot less environmentally friendly in 1972 and in Europe.

About 20 years ago we were flying back from London to Orlando. The steward had offered us fresh fruit, I think it was apples and oranges. There were some left at the end of the flight and we noticed him putting them all in a red bag we asked why. He said despite the fact that the fruit had been loaded on the plane in Orlando and had only flown to London and back, it had to be specially bagged because they were going to remove it from the plane and burn it. To be honest, it’s the last time I remember being offered fresh fruit on a flight.

That does raise a question. If you come to California by car, there IS an agricultural inspection station in Truckee on Interstate 80 and they do confiscate fruit and vegetables. But no such inspections if you fly in. Wonder why?

Even the road checkpoints don't always do inspections. I can't remember the last time we were actually stopped driving back to CA from Vegas.
