Well, we're home! I'm sitting here staring at all the unpacking to do, and I'm so sad that it's all over. I can hardly believe we've been there and it's done. It was like a dream. We had a fantastic trip, I'll do some more specific reviews later but...

*sigh*

What do you do to fill that void? lol

On the plus side - when we went, we went knowing it was a one and done trip. DH had no interest in Disney, was only going for us (the kids and I). And... he is now open to a return trip someday! In a way, to him, it's just another theme park (he's really not a theme park guy), but he had a lot of fun, and said there's still so much we never got to see or do. And with all the renovations going on/supposed to happen in the parks, he did say it would be neat to go back when they're done and see the changes.

So, my hope is that someday, we'll get to go again. So many things I'd do differently, many things I'd do the same, but who knows what touring will be like by then, since if we do go again, I suspect, it'll be at least another 3-4 years, when the children are 12 & 9. But at least there's some hope of another trip someday, if all works out and we can save carefully.

We call it ADD (After Disney Depression). It usually hits at the first non-Disney bathroom we visit on the way home. :)

My strategy is to start planning the next trip. Even if that's when your kids are 12 & 9, that's a great age. My all time favorite trip to Disney World was when my kids were 10 & 11. They were still young enough to enjoy the characters, but old enough to do all the rides they wanted.

Now our kids are in their 20s, both serving in the military and both at least half a country away. Every time we leave the kids, we start planning our next trip to see them, no matter when that may be. We get to see them both next month and we're already planning a trip for next year, back to WDW for the first time in a while. Look forward to the good times and enjoy the memories...

It's time to start planning your next trip!! It will be so fun when the kids are older. Thank goodness you didn't have time to see and do everything. That's a good leverage to use with your DH.

I have a bad habit of going to the Disney Store online and seeing what they might have on sale that I can use to ease the After Disney Depression. If not that I get started on long range planning for another trip :)

I know what you mean that the trip now seems like a dream-WDW trips fly by!

There really isn't a cure for the post WDW trip blues-you just have to focus on the awesome memories that were made!:)

One of the funniest things I catch myself doing after a trip is being TOO friendly!

When I am at WDW,walking through shops, etc.,I'm always waving and saying hello to ALL the Cast Members, and then when I get home and am walking through a store there,I start to do that and have to remember I'M NOT AT WDW!!!!lol:)

That was us 4 trips ago :rolleyes1

All it usually takes is that one trip, then they're hooked forever.....muahahahahahaaaa.

That's what happened after our honeymoon trip, & now my DW says she's created a monster...:sad2:

But I went in with all god intentions to start, and it's just snowballed from that point.

Like everyone already stated... Start the pre-planning stuff, stay on these disboards. Keep visiting any other WDW websites. Shop at the Stores, watch the movies.....etc. etc.

Hopefully you'll get more chances to visit again, & again, because there's just way to much happiness down there that can't be absorbed in merely 1 trip..LoL

Good Luck.:thumbsup2:disrocks:

Wow, if your honeymoon was in 97, you weren't kidding! :rotfl2:

Hence the reason I'm on here...Even though owning at DVC and not needing to make reg. reservations, I'm always fascinated with when the deals come out, so I can get 1st hand news to friends & family...And also to fill in all the non Disney Fanatics with any info needed.:confused3

I'm constantly learning something new each and every day. And believe it or not, even after visiting the parks many many times, there's always something or 2 that we will discover for the first time..

Depressing monorail spiel. On our last trip, we had a last morning at EPCOT before heading back to the Poly to leave. On the ride from EPCOT arriving at the TTC (not remembering it exactly) but the Monorail Spiel says something to the effect "If this concludes your trip to the WDW Resort, we hope you have a safe trip home" Now that is the most depressing monorail statement.

I'm going through the same thing! I'm trying to fill the void by reading the Disboards... hee hee...

Got back Friday 7/3. It was so SHORT, just 3 and a half days. I need more TIME.

My mom used to say the only way to cope with the end of a Disney vacation was to start planning the next one...

Hahahaha, yeah, with all of the planning that goes into it, all of a sudden you're done and the trip is over. It's very hard to come down from!

I always just start planning our next trip.

And, DH and I had been several times before kids, but when we first took them in 2009 (they older kids were 3 and 5) we did not ever imagine it would turn into a yearly thing....but we are booked for the girls 8th trip for next year, LOL! It will be our son's 2nd trip (3rd if you count in utero, LOL) and he will only be 15 months at the time of travel.

:sad2:  :sad1:. Almost like they were talking only to you...Right? Well now that leaves you to planning the next trip...

I think I said this on one of the reports you did while you were still down there, but after all your planning and questions here I'm SO glad you guys had a good time :goodvibes But I am laughing b/c in all your before-trip posts when you mentioned this being your one and only trip it would go like this: someone would reply "oh, that was us, but once your DH goes he'll change his mind and you'll be back!" and you'd be like "oh no he won't, this will DEFINITELY be our only trip"...............lol see? We all knew he'd change his mind :thumbsup2;)

Definitely stay on the Disboards, it's a great way to stay on top of any/all changes that go on regarding MB's, FP's, closures, new rides/lands opening, etc. That way when you're ready to go back in a few years, you won't have so much to catch up on :)

Totally understand where you're coming from. I'm in the planning stage for my next trip but I don't know if it's going to happen when we want (in August!!!!!!!!!!) This was a strange trip for me ... it took me SO long to relax after an incredibly stressful 4 years that I'm desperate to go back and 'finish the holiday' ... It was only the last couple of days that I started to chill. I want to go back for my 50th birthday ... 2 years ... if I can't go before. Just ONCE I want to be wrong and be able to go in August. I'll keep you posted. I was so scared on the flight coming back - the turbulence was dreadful and I really thought we were coming out of the sky!!!!!!!!! All I could do was pray because I desperately wanted to go back (I was the only person in the airport who was DISAPPOINTED my flight was on time ...!)

I cope with it by making a treasury ... I can't find the red treasury anymore (except in One Man's Dream in the 'archive' bit ... hmmmmmm ... don't think I'm getting hold of that any time soon. In the meantime I'm making one of my own to the best of my ability. I WAS going to look at my pictures but my camera broke and my video camera didn't pick up the sound. The lady who is responsible for if I go back in August said, record your own sound over - how the heck do I record the soundtracks from the likes of Reflections and the rides ...? Yes, some things, like the view of the park as you come across the boat and the new look MGM (sorry, can't call it Disney Hollywood Studios ... I just did but you know what I mean - it will always be MGM to me!) but the RIDES and the SHOWS ... I don't have the soundtrack to those! :(

:sad2:  :sad1:. Almost like they were talking only to you...Right? Well now that leaves you to planning the next trip...

We've heard the spiel many times before, not paying much attention to it, but after a great trip which was coming to an end, it hit home. Couldn't wait to start planning our next trip.

Glad you made it home safely! How was the long trip? How are your legs doing and your hubby's back and your MIL's ankles? How 'bout the kids? I've been thinking about you and how your 3 days of travel went!

I know how it feels. I had a once in a lifetime trip to Washington D.C. Last month, that we planned for over a year. It went by so fast and now it's nothing but a memory. And I know I won't be going back. It's hard to get used to real life again after a trip like that.

I also get Disney Depression after each trip, even though I typically have the next one booked for a few months later. I recommend a healthy dose of the Dis, and making sure you order any Disney freebies (like the planning DVD) so you can start working on the next trip. I look at hotel availability WAY more often than I actually plan to book rooms, lol!
