Just curious how many of us have home party or direct sales businesses? I am a demonstrator for Gold Canyon Candles. I am a SAHM and needed something to earn a little extra income, plus it helps me feed my candle addiction! I also love going to parties, and I'm a sucker for anything by Pampered Chef and Creative Memories. I even like Partylite for their really cute candle holders. Anyone else care to share their home party business? :sunny:

I'm a Pampered Chef consultant...but for me it's more of a hobby than a "career". I work full-time as a legal secretary. But I love to cook and believe in the product, so when I was between jobs, I decided to become a consultant to help earn some money and now the extra will help supplement our upcoming trip to Disney.

I love anything Pampered Chef! I considered becoming a consultant, however not only are there alot of consultants here, but there is a lady in my neighborhood that's known as the go-to person for PC, and I was worried I might not get enough business. I can't believe how much money she makes selling PC, it's incredible. I wish I knew her secret!

I chose Gold Canyon because I only knew of one other person around here that sold them. I discovered them when my dd's school did a fundraiser with candles. I ordered some and was hooked! I was a huge Yankee fan, but I think these are stronger and last longer. I just wish they sold tarts! I've done some catalog parties, and I've gotten an order or two on my website. I haven't done a party yet because I'm nervous about getting up in front of people, but I'll get there!

Longaberger is one party I've never been to. Do you have a catalog you could send me? ;)

I have been doing pampered chef for a few years and have some regular customers but not too many parties. I am currently looking into Tastefully Simple if for nothing else but the repeat business.

I used to sell Princess House (crystal, cookware), and I made a lot of money doing it. I have another full time job and a small child though, and it got to be too much, so I stopped. I do have A LOT of great cookware, dishes, and crystal though! :goodvibes

I used to sell "marital aids"....which I am sure will shock some of my Dis friends :rotfl2:

Right now I'm looking into the Big Yellow Box company owned by Crayola. I've never did something like this before but I'm interested and the interest seems to be growing.

What exactly are those parties like? Do both sexes attend? Recently a friend & I were discussing those and wondering what they were like.

I just had a pampered chef party, I love the products and considered becoming a consultant if for nothing else other than to get the products for a discount. They are great products and something people can really use. I didn't go through with becoming a consultant because around here the market is so saturated with parties/consultants I didn't think that I'd have enough business. My consultant does it full time and is a single mom. She does really well, has been for 13 years and is an executive director. If I had to do one I'd definitely be a pc consultant.

I am a Close To My Heart consultant (scrapbooking and stamping). I find it fun and a great way to meet other people.

I used to sell Watkins a long time ago and I'm thinking of doing it again. It's the only product I really believe in enough to become a distributor. I just want to sign up so I can buy my own products at discount. :teeth:

The quality of their spices can't be beat! They also have different household products, medicines, candles, etc. The products are a bit pricier than what you can get in a grocery store, but I've found that since they're more potent, you use less of them and it tends to even out in the end. I'm hoping to start selling it before the end of the month.

I sell "martial aids" also. Being doing it for over two years. It's very tastefully down. Usually women only, no one under 18 of course. But I also do couples parties which I find the guests are pleasantly suprised. I even bring DH when I do those. The guys always joke with him and say they know how much he likes my job! ;)

That is the company that little guy sold for who went door to door selling their products. Sorry I don't remember his name. But I do remember I saw something about him on the news one time and that he was getting up in years and still doing it. Then a few years later they had a movie about him on tv. He was such a sweet man. His story really moved me.

I've never heard of Gold Canyon. Might have to look into it...although I'm doing a Partylite catalog show at the moment.

The majority of my shows are catalog shows. I've only ever really done 2 kitchen shows, so I'm still not comfortable with it. But I've had some fairly successful catalog shows. I have found that my director and the higher up director do really huge shows and I used to wonder how...but then I went to a couple of sales meetings and I discovered why. They are not afraid to me pushy. I don't have that in me. I don't feel that I should talk anyone into buying something that they don't need or really can't afford. I believe in the quality of our products and that is what I sell. Both my director and the higher up director have tried to get me to push things on people, especially my family and I just refuse to do it. No, I don't have thousand dollar shows, but I have decent shows and my friends and family don't try to avoid me for fear that I'm going to sell them another pizza stone.
