Is that what a carton of cigarettes cost now?!!!
Jiminy Cricket...

I think thats a bargain, around here I'm pretty sure they are upwards of $60+
I think that's a good thing.
When I first smoked in my teens, cigarettes were 60 cents a pack. I would split my school cafeteria lunch (which also cost 60 cents) with my best friend so she could take her 60 cents of lunch money to buy a pack of cigarettes and split them with me.
FTR, I quit smoking about 14 years ago, but the same friend is still puffing away. I can promise you that if cigs cost as much then as they do now, neither one of us would have taken up smoking.
I used to spend all my lunch money on cigarettes and my dad would get a bill at the end of the school year
I remember when cigarettes were $1.10 a pack and I also remember saying I would quit when they reached $2. I have no idea how people can afford to smoke these days.
I recently noticed that around here they start at $75 or so while standing in the grocery store checkout line with my child. I pointed that out to my pre-teen daugher and did some math with her to figure out how much smoking costs per year. She couldn't believe people take it up!
Adorable pets, hrh. Is that a Bernese?
The costlier, the better.
Where can I find a carton for $36.99??? I don't smoke but DBF does..even the generics are not much less than name brands. At least $50 a carton
I'm guessing the OP lives in a Southern state. I remember when some family friends would go on trips down south and bring cartons back for everyone because they were so much cheaper down there.
Yes, I am in Savannah. This was at Kroger for Marlboro brand.
When I was a tween, my friends and I used to smoke to look cool. Cigs were $.30/pack. I am so glad my mom found out before I became addicted and shamed me into stopping. I am not a very strong person, I am sure I would never be able to quit once I was hooked.
Holy Crap....around here you don't buy cartons at the grocery stores. They cost a heck of a lot more than the Low Bob's Discount stores. Gas stations, maybe...but never at the grocery stores, except for maybe Wal-Mart. But I don't ever go thru that check out lane, so I have no clue what they are charging these days.
