Yes, we can all skip the games, skip the cliques etc. but when the threads start getting hijacked by the clique jokes that only they get, then there is a problem and that is what everyone for the most part is complaining about. The hijacking of threads with inside jokes.

And I do agree with this 100%. I also think that anyone is welcome on any of the threads, but they should also keep to the topic at hand (assuming there is a topic ). And I'm talking true hijacking, not the slowly going off-topic that happens to many threads, sometimes with the help of the OP. I think we all know what a true hijacking looks like.

Being one who, obviously by my low post count, stays clear of practically everything.. I just wanted to jump in and say Thank you dan for being a constant caring soul on this board. You obviously have a heart bigger than most because you always take time to show you care... by popping in on a thread and sending a prayer... or a good thought.. or reaching out and taking that extra step to offer a helping hand... that is obvious to EVERYONE on this board... and I for one want to publicly thank you for doing that.. to thank you for always taking the time to try and make someone's day just a little brighter.. or their load a little lighter... you sir... are a geniune human... and it is all of our honor to know you...well.. at least in a Message Board kind of way...and I thought you should know that it doesn't go unnoticed! Hope this is "on topic" enough!

I am taking no sides with this. I would just like to bring something to the table that I don't think has been discussed yet.

I've seen multiple spammings of this board (usually late at night on the weekends) the threads were similar to the ones that were created last night. Which is probably why some are calling it a spamming (once again, I remain neutral) I've also posted on more message boards than I care to remember and any time this has happened, the threads were deleted and the poster removed.
Now on to my point.
if a newer, lesser known poster created teh same threads, what would have happened to them, and what would have happened to them when they made this thread, with something resembling an attack on a well known poster? (and we all know who I'm talking about here. and if you don't, I don't want to be accused of stirring the pot, so I might not respond to a pm questioning who)

Everyone has an opinion, which is why message boards thrive. and I will discount no opinion, and I will make no attack. and I probably won't respond to an attack made towards me.

I pmed dan last night, because I was wondering waht was going on, and he responded with somethign similar to what this thread is basically saying, and named the poster he didn't name this time around.


once again, I do noot mean this as an attack and if you chose to take it that way, i'm sorry.

I see nothing wrong with questioning Dan's method of making his point. That's just good discussion and of course everyone won't agree. But Dan making several posts to make a point is certainly different than some late night yahoo spamming just to have fun.

I want to say Dan is a great guy and for those of you who do not know him around the DIS other than this situation- well you are missing out knowing a heck of a guy. Dan is caring, supportive and genuine!

What I see is Dan's concern for this DIS. He is showing he CARES about this place and I think posting those threads was his way of showing some of us what others see when they come to the CB. From what I can tell (and Dan correct please if I am way off here) is it saddens him too see drinking bars (and I have been in there!), cliques and I guess a waste of server space here on the DIS. And cliques more so, well because they make people feel left out, not part of and that kind of stuff goes against his nature and is a sad thing for Dan witness.

As I was in a bar kinda thread I often wondered, hmmm with all these pictures of drinks what kind of space are we taking up with this silly talk, FUN-yes, but isn't this a waste of space for the server??? We all know the "SERVER IS BUSY" we hate so much!!! So maybe Alex can tell us if those type of threads and all those pictures and stuff are effecting server space and hurting the board with a busy server... OH and thank you Alex and DIS Techies, I haven't seen that "SERVER IS BUSY" for a while now GREAT JOB YOU ARE DOING!

Anyhoo, I would also like to know if maybe a poll could be done, to see what kind of response would agree to a sub board for jokes and stuff. From reading this, it seems a lot of members want it split I think a DIS Off Topic/Fun and Games sub-board may work.

I just hope we can fix this and move on cuz

They allowed someone to be rudely spoken to over on the test thread, and then poofed a thread about that incident, and then poofed another thread started by the victim, and then poofed all Dan's posts as he was trying to lighten things up a bit....... calling it an "attack!" Get real!

If there was an actual fairness being applied here, I'd have no problem with it. But some are receiving preferantial treatment, and it's Not Dan!

Just popping in to tell you I love ya, Dan. And also that I love the idea of having some sub-boards of the CB. I used to be a part of the CB & really enjoyed the community here. But alot of things drove me away from here that could be fixed by trying out some sub-boards. I know I'm not the only one that left because of these issues.

It's good to see some discussion on what can be done to make the CB a Friendlier Place again. I sure do hope the mods will get off the defense & really take an honest look at the points being made here. What's the harm in trying out something that so many people are asking for?

That would be incorrect. If it had been anyone else they would have been banned by now. The very fact that he still has rights to post here is indicative of his preferential treatment.

We DO skip it, but it's so annoying to have so much clutter on page 1.

People that have been banned here in the past have deserved it because they were quite nasty over and over again. Dan is hardly nasty to the posters here. He is usually supportive and caring with a few "calling them as he sees them" thrown in there. Judi was the only one I can think of who was banned and most of us didn't understand why. The rest say they just state the facts but they really were nasty.

I just counted 25 and that did not include the AMC, Taylor Hicks and Big Brother ofiicial threads. (I may have missed another too).

Anyways, that's at least half of the first page. That's alot in my opinion. That's also why so many good posts get lost in the shuffle. Yes, we can wade through the pages but with all the games/exchange/clique threads things move really fast and good stuff gets lost.

There have been people over the years who have been banned for other reasons besides being nasty although you may not realize that since you tend to come and go depending on your mood.

Just my 2 cents here......

I've been around here quite a while but have no idea what my post count is, nor do I care. I would dearly love to click on the CB and not have to go through 3 or 4 pages to find a post that was on page 1 an hour ago because the first few pages are filled with games and counts and exchanges.

I don't understand why there can't be a sub-board at the top of the page for them. The regulars would follow it, and if someone new was interested in that kind of thing, well, they can read, right? The name is right there. GAMES and EXCHANGES. Why is that so hard?

I'm not picking on anyone who enjoys those things, more power to you. You have something you enjoy and that is important. But why can't those of us who don't enjoy them have the same right to enjoy the CB without the hassle of wading through them?

Anyway, I think Dan is awesome. He has given me useful WDW info in the past and really seems to be good guy. Thanks for bringing this up Dan...maybe something will be done about it now.
