Missed your posts last night but didn't miss your point. You're right on target as usual. Not the target. We love you Dan :dogdance: :disrocks:

Sorry, thought you were being snotty..... ;) Dan is a very kind Man, and I am very HAPPY I know him! :thumbsup2 I will defend him anytime if need be.
Why is it snotty to disagree with him and point out when I think he is wrong?

OK...I stopped reading this after page three  so, that being said...if this has already been said, I apologize. WTH?????????? If you don't like cyber drinking, then skip it. If you don't want to guess the riddle, then skip it....if you don't want to do an exchange, then skip it. None, and I mean NONE of the "clique" threads have been exclusionatory....if you want to jump in, then do so...yeah, of course there are inside jokes....we all talk to each each other..here and in real life, GET OVER IT. What is the big deal????? To go on and on about it just cries out that there is something missing in your life, figure out what that is and fix it.....holy crap, this is a message board...not real life

I don't know what happened here last night, don't even care...but what i do care about is others being so judgemental......if something bothers you. skip it for crying out loud

I said I was SORRY, I "thought" you were being "snotty" you weren't so...S O R R Y! :teeth: Oh, I don't think he was wrong by the way.......... :rolleyes1 :dance3:

I strictly clicked on this thread because it said Holy Moly ;) :grouphug:

Wow, it's weird to see all the responses. When I first came to the CB, there was not debate board and mostly fluff and games and such. That's how I got hooked!! I like the little silly games, gives me a break from real life! I wouldn't mind a separate section, but I thought that was why they brought over the debate board to make it more of a community :confused3

Oh well, I love it here regardles of the fluff, the debates or even the nastiness. I just skip over what I do and do not want to read, post where I fit in and go on.....................................

Oh well - I suppose it's a little too much to expect some good natured debate and community discussion in this day and age of cliquey threads. Too bad, really. It used to be an interesting board.

Don't worry - I and many others WILL skip over the many threads that litter the front page, and this just so happens to be the problem.

I can't speak for everybody, of course, but I think this is the type of thing that most are talking about (from page 3 of this thread):

I'm don't mean to be picking on this particular poster, but the quote above hardly seems to add to the discussion. And typically when comments like the above are made, the thread that could be about anything, begins to be about cyber-drinking.

IMO, that's hijacking a thread and is rude (whether intended or not) to the OP, no matter who the OP may be.

ITA! ;)

I think I need to say "Holy Moly" now. ;)

This thread is about everything and nothing all at the same time. :rotfl:

OK, please explain.....what exactly are you talking about????? Because I stopped reading this thread after page 3????? So what??? Was something here that I missed??? My response would still be the same. Or, did you happen to quote me and Swedishmeatball because we "clique" and post together???? You know what??? Don't even respond, I'm leaving this thread....***????

Exactly!! :cheer2:

As one who's made it clear that you despise the "fluff" threads, the threads were spam and an obvious attempt to be disruptive.

The idea of handling the games and other large threads differently is not a new one. We've (the moderators and webmaster team) discussed reasons pro and con and ways to do it while maintaining the spirit of the forums many times. We've had communications and conversations with a number of board members about this over the years.

This isn't a new idea, and please don't take it personally if we don't respond to you about "your" idea.

We do read the forums, and we do listen to the voice of the posters here. All of the posters.

There are mature ways to communicate and make a statement that will make your message more likely to be heard...

That's Dan - he's a rebel! :rotfl2:

My opinion of the moderators is sinking ever lower....

They allowed someone to be rudely spoken to over on the test thread, and then poofed a thread about that incident, and then poofed another thread started by the victim, and then poofed all Dan's posts as he was trying to lighten things up a bit....... calling it an "attack!" Get real!

If there was an actual fairness being applied here, I'd have no problem with it. But some are receiving preferantial treatment, and it's Not Dan!

Now for some fluff:

:Pinkbounc  :happytv: :yay: :dance3:

Dan,

I'm glad it's your moxy that got going last night and not your meds! :teeth:

What's the difference between a bunch of people joking and laughing to make someone else feel better and the long threads for someone who is ill, that Dan often starts?

Thank you, banaheim. I love any and all threads that help us grow and connect as a ....community! Laughing together and caring for each other are at the top of my list for friends on both sides of the screen. As someone who loves to build community, I see it here everyday.

The reality is that when people cybertalk about topics unrelated to the direction the thread is heading (and that doesn't necessarily mean where the OP wants it to go), a large portion of us stop reading it. It's not funny or enjoyable to the people who don't post on the clique threads. It's rather boring, quite frankly. So when a highjacker responds with an inside joke that leads to a private conversation within a thread, he/she has alienated a portion of the community that does not participate in the thread designed to foster that sort of interchange. In essense, they've taken over threads that are not designed to be private commentaries.

So where does it leave the poster who does skip the clique threads, the game threads and the smiley threads? If threads other than those mentioned do manage to stay on page one for any length of time, they are highjacked on a fairly regular basis. In essence, the non-clique participant is being squeezed out of the CB. Doesn't make sense to me.

If private threads are left on the CB, it's the responsibility of the participants to keep their private jokes on those threads. Plastering that drivel on other threads is spamming. Dan's point was honest. He did nothing more than any other CB member looking to make a point or control a thread. And obviously, you all got it.

Very well said. Unfortunatley some people are just not getting it. Yes, we can all skip the games, skip the cliques etc. but when the threads start getting hijacked by the clique jokes that only they get, then there is a problem and that is what everyone for the most part is complaining about. The hijacking of threads with inside jokes.
