Holy Inflation Batman!

I am starting my prep for tomorrow's general opening day and was looking at the quote thread to get an idea of where prices are. I saw that for Alaska for my size party and category the prices are 33% higher than what the price was for my 2015 cruise to Alaska...33%! That is outrageous....
I get costs go up...but 33%.....seriously? Even though I'm a shareholder and get the object is to make money, I'm still blown away.

I will likely be switch lines for the extended family trip. Love the Mouse but there comes a point where enough is enough, or in this case too much is too much. I can pick up a lot of "nickel and diming" that we keep hearing about in that 33% increase. Guess I need to start researching other lines.....

Our family of 5 cruised Alaska on the Wonder last June. We had 2 adjoining Oceanview rooms. I just looked at the prices for the comparable cruise in June 2016. They seem to be up 12% over the 2 year period. Granted this is more than inflation, although we don't know what infation will be in the next 15 months. However, I don't think the increase is outrageous.

I definitely agree that the rates are sky high. But I'm pretty sure "price gouging" is generally only used in reference to necessities. And though they are nice to take, cruises are a luxury. Not a necessity.

Excellent point! The British Isle cruise is high because DCL has not done it before, it is 12 nights, and there is just 1 cruise. Complain all you want, but when I checked the website this morning, availability was VERY limited. Oh, and it was expensive!

We booked a 7 night Alaska last year on opening day....the same room this year is just about 1K more. Crazy!

I m willing to accept that this year we are cruising one week later and it was slightly cheaper than the same week we booked for 2016 (this week Aug 24, next Aug 15). However the EXACT same people, 2A, 1C are now $2,300 more......I'm happy that not everyone is having the same experience....not sure if the booked he highest priced week last year and picked a different week this yea or what? All I know is my bill sky rocketed...
