HOLY COW..."Kramer" goes nuts!

What Richards said wasn't a joke. Don Rickles and others made a career of making racially and ethnically offensive jokes. But the audience is in on the joke. Richard was simply yelling at a heckler. Thats a little different.

Another board I visit someone mentioned this blind item from a few months ago. Not sure where it appeared:

"This white actor appeared in a long running TV series, one of the most successful sic-coms in history. This actor was given his own show when the series ended. It lasted a short time, was canceled and the actors career never recovered. This actor has a secret, an intense hatred of African Americans. So much so he makes donations to white supremacist websites. He also has a reputation for being a lousy lover, his nickname in Hollywood is "The one Minute Man"

I think we can count this one as being solved?

WOW.

Well, someone did say earlier that their friend worked on the second series and they were not surprised by this outburst.

honestly........if people just ignored him, i'm sure he would have shut up. but people had to make such a big deal about it and he kept going on and on.

I'm sorry, but "ignoring" people who make racist statements is part of the reason why it's been over 100 years since slavery ended and this sort of thing still happens. Besides Richards went OFF!!!! The audience members didnt say that much - while Richards went on and on and on!!! Saying things like "fifty years ago we'd have a fork up your ...." are not words to be ignored - they show a deep seated hatred...... To me the most sad part is people saying we "should ignore" anything we dont like - changes were made in this FREE country by standing up for things that we NOT right. Stand up, be heard..... dont shrug things off!

IT seems to me that a lot of young people have this attitude - and I credit it to their living in a ge where alot of the "issues" in our country have been dealt with, though, obviously not truly fixed.....thats a luxury that they need to try to see beyond.

I am not sure which is more disturbing--the fact that Kramer is completely morally bankrupt or the fact that he has had enough sex to get a nickname! :scared1: I prefer to think of him as celibate, KWIM?

Well, if he is this bad, Jerry had to know after working with him for so many years. So why did he give Kramer a forum to apologize for behavior he is probably not sorry for? That kind of taints him at the same time.

Did anybody see the "apology" last night? This is from tmz.com.

Michael Richards publicly apologized for his racist tirade in an appearance on "The Late Show," but acknowledged that such sentiment had the potential to "come through and fire out of me." He tried to find an awkward parallel between his ugly rant and conflict that has arisen between blacks and whites since Hurricane Katrina.

Looking sallow, drawn, and speaking in halting fragments, Richards explained via satellite from Los Angeles to David Letterman and friend Jerry Seinfeld in New York, that he had lost his temper after some members of the audience interrupted his act and that he "took it badly," unleashing the racist invective that TMZ first aired this morning. He apologized to the people who took "the brunt" of his abuse, saying he was "really busted up," but then went on a strange tangent on race relations, saying he was "concerned about hate and rage" and about a "great deal of disturbance between blacks and whites" after Hurricane Katrina.

Richards did not say whether any other factors contributed to his actions, adding only that he would be doing "personal work" in the aftermath of the incident.

Audience members in the Ed Sullivan Theater, who were watching Richards on a screen, began laughing at Richards at first, thinking that the interview was a comedy skit, until Seinfeld admonished them, saying, "Stop laughing. It's not funny."

My 13 y o saw this segment on utube and asked me why it is bad when white people use the N word when many black people call each other that, it is often in rap songs, etc.? I really don't have a good explanation for it. I think it's awful and cringe whenever I hear it but it does bug me that it's perceived as worse when a white person says it. He also asked if there is a term for whites equally as offensive. There are many terms I don't care for but I'm not sure there is a term on the same level.

Probably because none of them imply forced, legal ownership of the caucasian race.

Not defending Either comedian, but there is a difference between using racial slurs in humor and using them in ANGER.

Being Mexican, which gets the most attention from Mencias humor I can tell you that it is more about the "tone" regardless of what words are used.

And you can ask "the wife" about my use of the "b" word, I know enough to never use it in anger, cuz if I do there is no taking it back.

I do feel that Kramer is sencerly sorry, but it does not change that fact that he is a racist and some of the words he used in that "apology" helped convince me.

Ok... that make me sick to my stomach. It was increadably and completely uncalled for and he's probably pretty lucky that the wrong people weren't sitting in that audience. Some people wouldn't have stood for that and went after him literally.

I had the same exact conversation with my 13yo. There is no excuse for it. I hate that word and no way more people who DON'T use it than those who do. This is a very verbal very public subculture that makes their living trying to shock people.

Tell him it is NOT acceptable from anyone. The lyrics of the songs he's heard them from are not the norm, and just like the terminology used to describe the female gender, it's disgusting and inexcuseable, like ANY cuss word.

Btw, there is no cuss word for a man as reprehensible as for a woman, either. Says a lot about our society, doesn't it?

Like what?

So calling a man the "P" word is nowhere near as reprehensible as calling a woman the "C" word? I guess it depends if you're a man or a woman.

I don't know if Jerry really knew how Micheal Richards really felt inside. Because most people who harbor that kind of hate usually have to hide it in a work type setting. I'm pretty sure that the cast of Seinfeld wouldn't have tolerated that type of behavior, after all Hollywood is known to be a pretty liberal town, when it comes to it's actors.

As for Jerry trying to help out a friend, I have no problem with that. That's what true friends and good family are supposed to do. Help out a friend who's in bad trouble. Some cast members will probably will ignore him and he will find out who his true friends really are. Everyone who was a part of that show had to be shocked at what he did and knows that the damage/fallout, may last forever. I wouldn't be suprised to see Micheal Richards take his own life later down the road. It was bad enough for him to live with the ghost of Kramer these past years. How do you think he's ever going to make a living in Hollywood now? He's done far too much damage and no one will want to associate with him.

.......and what does this have to do with anything? honestly. it could be Joey from Friends for all we know! i wouldn't jump on the bandwagon and acuse him of anything yet until we know more about what went on.

if you watched when he was on the Late Show, he looked a little "off". i'm wondering if he has anger management issues and has a hard time controlling them.

well first of all.......don't make assumptions about me. "a lot of young people think like this".......i don't appreciate it. you don't know that much about me to go making those assumptions.

if both parties had ignored eachother then it would have played out much better. neither one of them should have said anything. it's both of their faults. it doesn't just lie on one person. why would you pay money to go see a comedian, and then talk and be rude during his show?? and then why would you be rude to paying people coming to see you? see what i mean?

and i still stick by what i said. Carlos Mencia always makes fun of "the white people" and it offends me greatly. the man has his own show and it's mostly what he does! makes fun of white people and women! it's disgusting! but no one says anything about him.

oh.....ok......so if i make a joke about "n" it's ok?? but if i say it in anger.....it's bad? i don't get it.

i mentioned in my last post about how i think it's both of the parties' faults. neither one of them should have opened their mouths. the fault doesn't lie with just him.

I thought I knew all the words.

I wasn't sure if he was referring to the P word for male or female privates.

Also, I agree about anger management issues. No way would I defend Michael and he probably does have some sort of frustrations towards other races, but sometimes people just let their mouth overload their ***. It would take a lot though for him to ever recover from this. There are some lines that once crossed, there is just no turning back.

LOL Anger management issues?? Surely you're joking right? Did you see the video?? Yes obviously he has anger management issues. But he's still a racist pig. The vile things that came out of his mouth didn't come out of nowhere, nor are they simply a result of "anger management issues". They are the result of deep seated loathing. And I'm guessing most people would be a little "off" if they had to go on national television and face up to the what they'd done.
