HOLY COW..."Kramer" goes nuts!

Makes me wonder if he was under the influence, if you know what I mean. Is he friends with Mel Gibson? Oh, probably not. :confused3

One of the problems is that he just started trying to be a stand up comic. He can't find any tv or movie work and is now doing stand up. A love stand up comedians and have seen a lot of live shows and you can tell Richards "just doesn't have it" and doesn't do it well. A trully professional standup comedian knows how to deal with an unrully audience without comming unglued like Richards did. You can't let the audience see you lose your cool, it just starts the feeding frenzy. I've seen it quite a few times with some of the opening acts I've seen while waiting for the headliner to get on.

Sam Kinison was one of the best at stopping jerks who yell out and would have embarassed the hecklers into silence. Throwing out racial slurs to a crowd of black men is the quickest way to start a mini riot in that club. Richards is damn lucky he didn't get a severe beatdown, the situation could have gotten violent, real quick.

Bottom line, Richards will never recover from this. His stand up career is damn near finished if not already and if he thought it hard getting roles in the past, just wait. Mel Gibson has many millions to fall back on, Richards hasn't had a steady paycheck since Seinfeld left the air in 98. He's done. Stick a fork in him.

Man, do I agree!!

On Last Comic Standing one of the projects is how to handle a heckler. Maybe Kramer should've taken notes.

What I can hear all the way from Hollywood is the THUD of his agent after this hit the airwaves!! :faint:

didn't he coach George on an episode of Seinfeld that the best comeback was that you had sex with the guy's wife? he could have used that in this case.

That is exactly what I was thinking. He really is lucky the crowd didn't just rush the stage.

It shows that the crowd had a LOT more good sense and good judgement than the fool on the stage.

I think they were just in shock. I know I sure was, looking at the video.

True, but still, you could hear a lot of angry voices in the background, and rightfully so. Yet, no one went nuts or got out of control - they mostly walked out.... a very sensible reaction.....why get in trouble over some idiot?

That was exactly what I said, too. Egad. I never expected to hear something like this from him.

well i'm dating myself by telling this but-

i recall many years before 'seinfeld' was even known of and michael richards was a regular on the abc show 'fridays' (their attempt at doing a saturday night live skit show). an event from the show was recreated in the jim carrey movie about andy kaufman 'man on the moon' (but i recall seeing it live). richardson, kaufman and a female cast member were doing a restaurant scence and kaufman diverged from the loosely scripted scene and began improving. richardson got visualy and verbally angrier and angrier until he lept over the table and attacked andy kaufman and began choking and beating him. the director of the show and several production and cast members jumped in to pull richards off as the network cut to commercials.

the next day both kaufman and richards insisted in public statements that the incident was staged but had been taken out of context by the media. kaufman whose repuation was not the best at the time bore the brunt of the public and professional fallout, but richards whose star was on the rise at the time failed to get much work beyond the show (allot of people prior to the incident predicted a big career for him) not getting much notice until his seinfeld work.

I just went and watch it a 2nd time. I am so shocked at what he said. I fwlt like he though for some reason he was better then anyone there. When he said "this is what you get for intrupting a white guy" I about threw up

You are right on time with that one! :thumbsup2

That's Bill Nye the Science guy not Kramer in the show.
Kramer is the guy who discovers fire in the scene where fire is discovered. :)

I'm a wuss. I'm afraid to watch the whole thing. I saw enough on CNN.

I just don't understand it. First Mel Gibson and now this guy.

Secondly, Sinbad was interviewed about this on CNN and he said that MR saying he isn't a racist is like someone shooting up a place and killing a bunch of people and then saying they aren't really a killer. It isn't in their nature. And I think that's a good comparison.

It really disappoints me when I see this type of thing. It just seems like everyone is "losing it." I see people out and about being so disrespectful to others lately and I don't understand why all the tempers and hateful feelings are escalating. Maybe I should, but I don't.

Okay, I couldn't help but see more of it - it's playing on CNN right now. I think people must have thought it was some weird skit or something for shock value until some woman goes, "Oh my gosh" when she realizes it's for real. That's when people start walking out.

I cannot IMAGINE being in that audience. What a freakin' moron.

As for hecklers, there's an audio of Dane Cook and he takes down this one guy so smooth. But the guy shuts up. I go with what someone said above - comedians who are stand-up comedians know how to handle this kind of thing.

i think it's ironic that comics like Carlos Mencia(sp?) can basically do the same thing, yet no one says a word about it.

honestly........if people just ignored him, i'm sure he would have shut up. but people had to make such a big deal about it and he kept going on and on.

I'm glad to see he apologozied on Letterman tonight. I'm not sure it will help his career but at least he tried to redeem himself for his immoral remarks.

What Richards said wasn't a joke. Don Rickles and others made a career of making racially and ethnically offensive jokes. But the audience is in on the joke. Richard was simply yelling at a heckler. Thats a little different.

Another board I visit someone mentioned this blind item from a few months ago. Not sure where it appeared:

"This white actor appeared in a long running TV series, one of the most successful sic-coms in history. This actor was given his own show when the series ended. It lasted a short time, was canceled and the actors career never recovered. This actor has a secret, an intense hatred of African Americans. So much so he makes donations to white supremacist websites. He also has a reputation for being a lousy lover, his nickname in Hollywood is "The one Minute Man"

I think we can count this one as being solved?
