I don't think that was 'real" laughter, but an emotional response to a very uncomfortable situation.

True..could be! I always really liked him but there is no need what so ever to use that word. Someone else said that they are not easily offended but that did it for them. I feel the same way. It take a whole lot to "offend" me...I hardly ever use the word because I thinks it's over used...but holy crap! That was disgusting behavior! I hope he makes an official apology!

I had heard he was intense, but alot of comics are so I was still surprised.

One of the problems is that he just started trying to be a stand up comic. He can't find any tv or movie work and is now doing stand up. I love stand up comedians and have seen a lot of live shows and you can tell Richards "just doesn't have it" and doesn't do it well. A trully professional standup comedian knows how to deal with an unrully audience without comming unglued like Richards did. You can't let the audience see you lose your cool, it just starts the feeding frenzy. I've seen it quite a few times with some of the opening acts I've seen, while waiting for the headliner to get on.


Sam Kinison was one of the best at stopping jerks who yell out and would have embarassed the hecklers into silence. Throwing out racial slurs to a crowd of black men is the quickest way to start a mini riot in that club. Richards is damn lucky he didn't get a severe beatdown, the situation could have gotten violent, real quick.


Bottom line, Richards will never recover from this. His stand up career is damn near finished if not already and if he thought it hard getting roles in the past, just wait. Mel Gibson has many millions to fall back on, Richards hasn't had a steady paycheck since Seinfeld left the air in 98. He's done. Stick a fork in him.

Wow, I just saw this on the news! Comedian Paul Rodriguez was in the audience and said on camera "we came to see Kramer and got Mark Furman!!"

Jerry Seinfeld is appearing on Letterman tonight and asked Michael to appear with him via satellite. They taped earlier today. I just saw a clip of it and he apologized and said that he went into a rage after being heckled, but that sort of crap is not acceptable and he insists that he is not a racist.

I wonder if Disney will edit him out of Ellen's Energy Adventure.

I agree and it's all just a scramble at this point. Jerry is a good friend, but I think he should have just stayed out of this and let Michael's ship go down quickly.
