Holy catfish!!!

I'm watching a show called Paranormal State (I think), and it's freaking me out something fierce. I don't know that I believe in ghosts but it makes me wonder why I always hear footsteps and doors opening and shutting in the middle of the night or when I'm home alone. It doesn't help that my dog will randomly bark visciously in the middle of the night for 15 minutes or so and she'll be looking at nothing...not the door, not the windows....nothing. I may end up sleeping with my kid tonight because I'll probably have nightmares. Hahahah!!

Anybody else seen this show? If you have, do you believe in it or do you believe some of the stuff is staged?

I have seen this. Really some of it may be staged but I do believe in ghosts b/c if it wasn't for one I may not have been here..I was very sick when I was a kid and my mom swears she heard the most god awful scream waking her up and she said there was no way I could have done as I was passed out of a high fever ....turns out I had an inner ear infection and I was hospitalized for it...

when I watch it I run to my room and snuggle up against dh LOL

Hahaha, I so wish I had a guy to cuddle up with so I'm not scared. But alas, I only have my kiddo who is a bigger than pansy than myself! I should just stay away from scary things.

really I figured that there would be some activity at our house b/c we are remolding it and this house belonged to dh's grandparents who died here but so far nothing

oh well it's a good thing I guess ...yep disappointed that my house isn't haunted...

I think friendly ghosts would be wonderful to have around. The evil ones who throws things aren't my idea of a good time. I had a friend in high school who lived in a huge house that was part of the underground railroad and there are a bunch of tunnels/corridors that are under the floorboards, I never got to see those since they put permanent flooring down, but their basement...CREEPY! It was old brick and there was a really long bench and above and below were iron shackles still attached to the walls. I was really torn betwee wanting to explore the rest of the basement (we didnt go all the way down...none of her family did) and fearing for my life because I'd assume in a place like that, there are ghosts! I love old houses though.

ME too ..I lived in a house when my kids were real little and one night I was tucking my dd in and looked at me as said "why do people shop in the attic?" wow that sent chills up me...she was only 5 at that time...

i would have wanted to explore myself sounds like fun but of course with someone with me...

I do like watching Celebrity Ghost Stories, and "A Haunting" though... I dunno, I guess I trust ppls first hand accounts more then these so called ghost hunting experts..

Yeah i know the "A haunting" show is very um believable..however there was the real paramedic that took the boy in the movie "A haunting in Connecticut" which was on "A Haunting" and he said while it happened and the house is haunted it was not as bad as they portrayed it...the real paramedic was on a talk show I was watching and that is what he said ..so in another words they juice it up for the show....

Never seen the show but I'm going to have to watch it - I love that kind of stuff!

I grew up in a big old country house in England - the house is around 150 years old. The house was always making creaking noises, we'd always hear things on the stairs or what sounded like someome moving around downstairs. We never thought much of it - my parents are reserved, stiff upper lip English folk who wouldn't go for such nonsense as ghosts!!!

But we were back in England this past couple of weeks staying with my parents - and DH kept waking me up in the night, whispering "what was that?!" I kept telling him it was the house settling, it was no big deal but then the second night, we heard one of the doors shut downstairs when everyone else was asleep. It could very well have been a draft but DH was horrifed!!! We got back to Florida last night, and this morning he said he had the best nights sleep he's had in two weeks because he was too scared to sleep at my parents house!!!

Our Current house is quite haunted...even had a ghost hunters group come through it...twice.

They did the whole thing, Video, Voice recording...3 Psychics..3 tech dudes...4 ladies who did nothing but walk around talking to walls (Snicker)

I'm a mathematician by trade...My Wife is a Engineer. We're very much grounded in the real world of numerical proof. But folks, when we moved into this place...we had our worldview challenged almost immediately. We tried like mad to debunk everything that happened. We couldn't. When my 3 year old daughter started naming her stuffed animals finnish names...We got nervous and called teh ghost hunters in our state.

It was an unreal experience.

So do I think the TV stuff is fake...yeah, some of it is, Some of it isn't.

I believe some on fake but I also think some is not..have you seen TAPPS? I love that show b/c they go in and to try to debunk EVERYTHING..some they have but some they are like

there is something they say is the cause of a lot of paranormal in people that if it is in your house than that is way you feel the way you feel but i can't remember what they called it...

I LOVE TAPPS that is the one that I can watch and know that if they find something they have done everything they could to debunk it first...

we watch TAPS and kinda laugh at some of the stuff. The things that get them worked up are so trivial.

Paranormal State used to be interesting. They really tried to find out what was happening. Then, I think fame got to their heads. Now they go in to a place "expecting" to encounter "evil" spirits. The last couple of shows I watched, ALL the "experiences" were personal - nothing to see or hear. It's complete bunk.

The fans don't want to see everything debunked, they want to see ghosts or be scared. That has become obvious in Ghost Hunters as well. Early episodes they went in and actively tried to debunk everything. Even if they couldn't debunk everything, they needed a ton of physical evidence to declare a "haunting". Now, everything is a possibility and the "hauntings" have increased.

I preferred it when they spend more time debunking than confirming. It gave more credibility if they couldn't debunk something. That's not what brings in ratings though.

So, what did they find? Anything interesting? Any voices or anything? Spill it, we want to know.

I watch those shows and enjoy them but believe very little of what they show. I believe in ghosts, but I think that they play up a lot of stuff for the viewers.

Well...A little background first. My kids DD(5), DS(2), DW(29 ) and Dog (a 5 year old Aussie Shepard named peanut)

We moved into our house when DD was 2 (2005). From the moment we moved in things would happen. Toys going off for no reason...NOises like footsteps upstairs, Shadows, things breaking.

Our Poor Dog would be laying in the middle of the floor, he'd perk his ears up, rise and find his favorite toy, then wander over to the stairs and wag his nub like mad, like he was trying to get someone to play with his toy.

These things went on everyday until we lost the house to a tornado in 2006. we didn't get the house rebuilt until 2007.

When we moved back into the new house, it wasn't but about 2 days until the daughter started talking about a thing she called "Dark MAn". We thought it was an imaginary friend...you know how kids are. She said Dark man taught her all kinds of things, liek counting...new words...how to read...new games.

Kinda disconcerting TBH, but it was an imaginary friend right? We thought so too until out of the blue she renamed all her stuffed animals from names like "Puppy, Kitty, Froggy, Horsey" to "Mia, Mara, Seli, Ulef, Pia" and she would do her abc's using different sounds...Damndest thing I ever saw.

So When we asked her about it, she said the Dark Man taught her these words.

That's when I called The Ghost Hunters folks here in our state.

So I sent them an e-mail and they said they could come out in a couple of weeks...which they did.

They showed up in waves, 2 ladys show up around 4pm, they interviewed us and the Girl...wrote down all the stuff we experience. Then we gave them a tour of the place and where exactly things occur. We were given strict instructions to not say a word to anyone else about what happens in the house until they say it's Ok to do so.

About 5pm, 3 more ladies show up, they were psyKicks. They split up and moved through the house...asking random question like "Do you ever hear bangs coming from this area" or "HAve you ever seen a dark shadow go through here. They were amazingly accurate...kinda freak me out TBH.

Around 6pm the tech guys showed up. They set up cameras, Voice recorders and night vision stuff. They then had us wait in the living room while they wandered throug hthe house asking all kinds of questions. While they were doing that, one of the ladies running one of the video cameras started hooting like she'd been stung...everyone came down and start ohhing and Ahhing over something she'd taped. So she let me watch it, It was essentialy me sitting on the couch with one arm on the back of the couch looking into our kitchen, I was talking about how make salsa, all of the sudden, from where my arm was resting on the couch, a round ball about the size of a softball that looked amazingly like a soap bubble, rose up and then moved slowly twaord the kitchen...then did a 90 degree turn are went to the celing and disappeared. Swear to god, I never saw anything...and I was right there.

So they walked around talking to walls for about another 90 minutes. then they all came back downstairs.

The SighKick ladies then started to tell us what they had found. They spent about 10 minutes describing a older man with a big mustache who thought this house was his. His accent was really thick and it was Scandahoovian. They thought he was a teacher or something. They also said he liked DD and thought of her as a grandchild. And they said his name was shadow man or something like that (How did they know that). Then they said there were a host of other things in the house, one that was hiding upstairs and refused to come out...but they knew it was there (This is intersting because after they left, this one came out)
They told us not to worry, most of what was in the house was harmless. But to not let the old man scare my daughter.
