We'll have 4 day park passes (NO park hopper), going to MK, AK, HS, MK.
I was hoping to go to HS midday so we could enjoy some down time at the resort after 2 busy days, is this practical or should we get there earlier? We're going to Fantasmic, so def need to be there at night.
Also, is it worth eating at Hollywood and Vine for the Fantasmic package seating? Or should we eat somewhere else and chance other seats?

I suggest that you get a day-of FP+ for F! instead of the Dining Pkg.
Then, arrive at the F! theater 45 min., or so, before show-time.

There is not s ton going on there these days so you will be fine going later in the day, just plan your fastpassss accordingly. Definitely skip H&V. The food is not of very high quality and it's simply not worth the prices. I'd suggest dining at scifi or 50s primetime, as the CS options at mgm aren't very good either

DHS can be done in a 1/2 day so just schedule your FP's starting when you plan arriving at the park.

Give 50's Prime Time a try for dinner.

Not sure when you are going but we were there last May and didn't get a FP for F! and didn't have any problem getting in for the show.

I've read H&V's food was subpar, but figured if we could get fantasmic seating and squeeze in a character meal it might be worth it?
And decent QS places in HW?

We'll be going late April/early May 2016; I know, I know, I'm a VERY early planner. I'm just so excited!

We've done H&V, Sci-Fi, and 50's. While I didn't think the food was amazing at any of those, H&V was the worst. At least Sci-Fi and 50's have atmosphere and theming in their favor.
