Am I correct that the only way to eat at the lounge at HBD is as a walk up? We would actually prefer eating in the lounge rather than the restaurant, but I'm wondering if I need to make an ADR in the restaurant to be safe.

Walk-ups only. I was there a few weeks ago about 15 min prior to a noon reservation in the restaurant and a small line was forming on the other side (by the former Starring Rolls) for the lounge. I saw the restaurant hostess walk several parties who had stopped in to see about walk-up seating down the walkway and point out the spot on the other side where the line forms.

It usually isn't too crowded unless you are there right at noon.
Last fall, we stopped there mid afternoon and had no trouble getting a table.

It’s walk-up but the hostess or bartender keeps a sign-up page. You add your name to the list and can sit at the tables in the old Starring Rolls area. They will call and seat you when your name comes up. No hovering near tables like at some lounges.

If you hit a busier time, you can order drinks and visit until a table is available. We enjoyed this place and I really liked the little Cobb salad.

We went right when the lounge opened and there was a line waiting to be seated. Things filled up quickly, but we noticed more open spaces later in the day. It's a great spot though since you can order from both menus and lots of good people watching.

Have they changed their policy? It used to be that the menu for each was separate and distinct... can’t order Lounge menu in restaurant and can’t order restaurant menu in lounge. If they have changed, that’s great news! Totally agree it’s a great spot with good people watching!!

I know people inside with ADRs usually can't order from the lounge menu, but I've never heard anyone have any issues ordering from both menus while at the lounge. We did this both in 2014 and 2017 without any problems.

Smart. I’ve eaten at both and the lounge restored my faith in their entire establishment after a crappy experience in the restaurant itself.

We were offered both lounge and restaurant menus in the lounge at lunch on two trips in 2018. Never had dinner in the lounge so I don't know whether both menus are offered at dinner.
