A friend of mine has IBS and has been advised by a third party that hypnosis can "cure" it. I know that hypnotherapy can often help, but we are always taught that in physical ailments, it is important to defer to a physician or doctor. Do you subscribe to the belief that holistic medication can heal a physical problem more often than not? Or do you place more faith in conventional medical aid? I think both have their places, but if I had a complaint, I'd always consult a doctor, either as an adjunct or solely.

Try it, what’s the harm? Why hide behind a Dr’s diagnosis or rx if an alternative that does not harm you is offered? I’m in the try anything if it won’t harm you camp. Life is a balance and health is no different.

If a person has a physical ailment with an established treatment protocol, I would recommend working with a doctor or specialist for treatment. However, I do believe that combining that with a holistic approach, whether that is through hypnosis or other methods, can help the medical treatment to be more effective by relaxing the patient and replacing negative thoughts with positive ones. I would not rely solely on a holistic approach for things like IBS, diabetes, cancer, neurological disorders, or infections that require actual medical intervention to be successful. By the time a person realizes they need something more in order to treat their condition they may be too ill for the conventional treatment to be effective.

I agree with what is stated above - I have done the conventional method for my condition and it’s done all it can do I am dealing with daily pain and can say for me acupuncture worked unbelievably well I was quite shocked amazed! I have done other things and had mixed results but am willing to try things as I do not wish to be on pain medication.
But I will see a Dr as I don’t want matters getting worse or doing something that I should not be doing that could cause more problems so I always inquire before I do something I would rather use caution as you just never know what intersects with what
Good Luck I hope your friend finds something that works !!!

Complementary therapies (like hypnosis and many others) can help reduce stress and that is always a positive in a disease state (or to help prevent); if not to lessen the disease itself, to help improve quality of life.

I have yet to see a one stop shopping cure for IBS, but it would be nice!
