A few updates tonight.
The most important one is that we found out this morning that Dug's grandma probably does not have very long left. She's had Alzheimer's and has been in a care center for a few years now, but she's been slowly declining. The family started getting calls from the care center yesterday, advising them to come visit her, as she wasn't eating much anymore.
We don't know if she has a few days, a few weeks, more? Tough to deal with.
We left work early this afternoon and met up with Dug's dad, Dug's sister and her husband, and Dug's grandpa to visit his grandma. She has gotten very tiny and not very responsive. So sad. We all said our goodbyes to her, as no one really knows how long she has.
And, although we feel guilty for even thinking about it, we're concerned that this could affect our trip. We're scheduled to leave in 6 days. We'll just have to see what happens. If there is a funeral, we need to be there. Dug wasn't able to make it to his other grandma's funeral (when he was in college) and wouldn't dream of missing another one. So, we need to be ready to be flexible about our trip.
I think Disney would let us change our resort dates without fees. There's some availability the following week. Not necessarily the resorts we want (Poly), but we could make do. We have APs and TiW, so there are no package cancellation fees hindering us. Because we used miles to book our flights, and had the schedule change, there's maybe a better chance of getting our flights changed without fees? Not ideal, but we're trying to accept it. Or, of course, everything could happen as planned. We just don't know.
In other news, two things:
*The changes in park hours have indeed become official. They are on Disney's website. Now we have two 1am nights at MK (one EMH and one not). Should be fun! We do love the late nights in the MK!
*We got our room requests in:
Pop: '80's building, higher floor, King bed
Poly: Tahiti building (has two sinks in the rooms!), 3rd floor (for a balcony)
BLT: room # ending in 18 (these are the ones with straight-on MK views), higher floor
I think we'll hold off on doing online check-in, due to the situation.
I guess one other thing to mention: we have a pretty strange list of "must-do"s. Because this is the end of the Year of Disney, I think we're getting all nostalgic. Of course, we want to do a lot of the "popular" things again, but we also want to do things like Snow White, the Great Movie Ride, Carousel of Progress, Journey into Imagination, etc.
I think that's all I got right now. It's weird, we should be excited with a trip so close, but I'm just uneasy right now. A damper has definitely been put on things.

I can totally understand how you're feeling. That has to be rough. Don't feel too guilty about thinking about your trip. It is something you have to work out, too. Hope everything works out without too much extra stress on the both of you. Keep us updated!
for you and Dug! So sorry to hear about Dug's grandmother's declining health!
The funeral is on Friday. This Friday. You may have seen that day in our agenda. Enjoying the Poly, Osborne Lights, etc. Well, obviously that's changed.
(Fuzzy Disney Math) and crunched numbers. And came up with crazy spreadsheets of resorts and prices and dates. Have you ever tried to plan and book a WDW trip, nearly from scratch, only a few days out?!
Not to mention, changing your flights, resort reservations, ADRs, etc.
So, we have new dates. And the first and last one are further apart...
Besides, the only flights we could get back any day that were the right mileage and non-stop (I don't like to fly as it is, so I wasn't liking the puddle-jumper, layover in Cleveland thing) were over the weekend. So, we had no choice.
That might change our schedule a bit...
- that's what the FDM calculator told us to do. I think we'll be keeping the four nights we have reserved for the Poly. The last 5 nights are a little more up in the air. We'd go with Pop, but it's not available all the nights. And we're not real jazzed about the idea of All Star Sports instead. We could get a room at POR, which we like. But no King beds available. Dug started looking a little bit at Coronado Springs today and likes what he sees. That's looking like a likely option, but I still have to check it out and put the FDM calculator to work on this again. Anybody know anything about CSR?

Anyway, the cool thing is that Captain Cook's is open 24 hours, so we can immediately have a Dole Whip upon arrival!
). So, we're booked now! Not to say it won't change....but we're feeling decent about it.
now!
I am so glad that we caught this in advance. Otherwise, I don't think we would have had a clue until we showed up and found out I wasn't on the flight!
