Okay, I've got to get some sleep. Bailey needs to be dropped off prior to 7am, so it'll be an early morning. And a busy day. If I'm not in touch, talk to you all when we return!

I'm so sorry to hear about Dug's grandmother- I wish your family the best!

And hey, it looks like you guys will be doing Epcot EMH on 12/17, same as us! We're arriving late that afternoon and have an ADR at Coral Reef for 8:45pm. I'll keep my eyes peeled for you guys! I'll most likely be wearing my big stuffed animal Nemo hat and flipping out.

That's awesome you'll be at that EMH too! I will keep an eye out for the Nemo hat! Say hi if you see us!

Have you left? I don't know that you'll see this, but..

We're not going to be around the 11th anymore. Andy-Roo is having some health issues that are keeping us home for a bit. I'll be looking for you when we try again next friday though! :goodvibes

Hope you have an easy flight and a great trip!

Glad to have you here again!

Well, we tried to leave. More on that in the next post!

I hope Andy-Roo is well again soon! We should be there Friday too! Hope to see you!

Well, if you've followed our previous TRs, you know that we usually have pretty much the same travel day every trip. Not this time. We should actually be in the air right now. We are not. I will detail this more in the TR when we get home (when I won't have to type on an iPad), but here is a summary of our day:

The day started with Dug's grandma's funeral. Then time with family. The family was also getting together for a pizza dinner tonight, but we had to be dropped off at the airport before that.

We got to the airport about two hours prior to our departure time and planned to use our free Delta Sky Club passes during our wait. However, we had two things that prevented that:

1. We needed to get our seats next to each-other and had to go to the gate to get that fixed.

2. The Sky Club near our gate was closed for renovations and the only open one was on the other side of the airport.

So, we decided to save the Sky Club passes for another time. the gate agent was great and quickly fixed our seating assignments. We waited at the gate for a bit. Then there was an announcement. Our flight was going to be delayed at least 10 minutes. No big deal, right?

Until the next announcement...

I almost thought this one was a joke...

But it wasn't...

Our plane had mechanical problems that were going to take a long time to fix. So long that they had to find us another plane. Well, the good news was that they found us another plane, the bad news is that the new plane was running late.

Our 7:20pm flight was now scheduled to depart....

Around....

Midnight!

Yes, a five hour delay and an overnight plane full of kids going to Disney!

You can imagine how thrilled all of the passengers were!

Oh, and you haven't heard the best part yet!

There's a Winter Storm Warning tonight! The snow is supposed to start soon. And all anyone can really say is that "hopefully" it won't delay or cancel our new crazy late flight!

So, you remember those Sky Club passes? Well, that's where we are now passing our time. There's free food and drinks, even alcoholic drinks. Which, let's face it, are necessary after a day like this. Free wi-fi. Comfy chairs.

Our flight status has been moved up to 11:30pm. For you math whizzes, that means we'll still (best case scenario) get into MCO around. 4am. After a Magical Express ride, we should be to the Poly around 5am.

You know we're budget-conscious. $246 for a few hours of pre-rope-drop sleep just cannot be justified. Here is where we had to count on some pixie dust. pixiedust:

We put in a call to the Poly, explaining our circumstances. We had to go through a few people (up to the"big boss"), but we managed to get a refund for our first night at the Poly, but when we arrive, they will have a room ready for us! :cloud9:

How awesome is that? Disney rocks!

So, here we are hoping the plane hurries up and the snow holds off. And maybe we can get some sleep on the plane. The Sky Club is open until 10pm, so we've got another 45 minutes. And we have $12 in food vouchers from Delta! How generous...

I hope the rest of the trip is magical!

We made it into the sky! Quick update:

Sky Club stayed open 45 minutes late to accommodate our late flight. Nice!

Never used Delta's $6 each vouchers since we got lots of free stuff in the Sky Club.

Delta gave us all $50 future travel vouchers! Cool!

Flight crew gave out free blankets and headphones.

Flight was de-iced and took off in the heavily-falling snow at 12:20am - exactly 5 hours late.

Free wi-fi. Eat Pray Love on now.

Can't wait to get to the Poly!

Hanging at MCO now at 5am. Waiting for a Magical Express. The ME area was completely abandoned when we showed up.

Bus should be here any minute.

What a rotten flight experience this turned out to be! That sucks! Happy that you were able to get that money back anyway. Hope you managed to get some rest and are having a great time now!

Holy Cow!!! I just got caught up.....first off, sorry to hear about Dug's grandma:sad1:. But OMG, your flight!! I hope your vacation is now running on schedule. You two must have been exhausted.

Thanks for the comments. We had quite the crazy first day. Between that flight experience, arriving at the Poly at 6:30am, lack of sleep, and what I'm about to say, it hardly seems real.

So, I'm just writing a quick update here on Dug's iPhone and typing on an iPhone is hard, so you'll have to read the TR for
more details, but I just had one thing I had to share...

I'm writing this while sitting in the sun, behind the palm trees, from the balcony of our 3rd floor room of the Hawaii Building. In case you are unaware, this building is entirely Club Level!
:scared1:
:confused3
pixiedust:

And don't worry, A&Bmama, we didn't pay any extra for it!

Hallelujah for some pixie dust after all that flight drama!

Club level!?! That rocks!!

Hope you guys got some sleep! Awesome that Disney credited back your first night!

Have a great time! See ya in a few days!

Wow! Awesome for the Club level pixie dust! You deserved it after all you'd been through that day.
:banana::banana::banana:

Just a quick update.

We just might have gotten the craziest Disney deal ever. The end result is us staying in our Poly Club Level room for not too terribly much more than it would have been to move to Coronado Springs, as planned.

And gellybean, I'm sure you're checking the weather, but I just wanted to confirm that it is COLD!!! Bring all your winter gear to get through the next couple days!

Woo hoo @ Poly CL for nearly the price of CSR. If I'm reading right this means y'all get to stay in the same hotel the entire time? Hope so!

Thanks for the heads up about the weather. I've been checking it all day! Bringing a third suitcase just to hold the extra coats!! :lmao:

We are definitely just staying in at the hotel tomorrow night so let me know when you guys head our way and we can meet up in the lobby!! See ya tomorrow!! :goodvibes

Stay warm!
