Holiday Inn on International Drive

I stayed here in 2003 and again am staying when I go in November. We did not take a car and to be honest didnt need it. We found the shuttles to be fine and we also used mears who do $6 tickets through Virgin. We stayed in the tower and it was a little ugly outside but the rooms were fab and big. the service was fantastic as well.

After originally booking this hotel 2 years ago we decided to read some review sites about it mainly Tripadvisor.com and we were appalled at the reviews of the hotel especially ones after hurricanes when the staff did not did not care that guests were sleeping in cockroach infested rooms and the carpets were soaked and toilets broken, on top of that they did not take any extra measures to make guests feel safe or get emergency supplies in for the duration, just told them to stay put. After reading other sites where complaints were made about the rooms we contacted our travel agent and cancelled our stay and changed to Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista where we had a truly fantastic stay and the free transport to theme parks saved us a fortune and was stress free. Each to their own I suppose but we will not stop at the Holiday Inn on IDrive btw it was painted an awful shade of green this year you can't miss it!!

I discovered Tripadvisor after I'd been to the Holiday Inn IDrive. Had I read the reports BEFORE I'd gone, like you I would have changed my hotel. However, having stayed there I thoroughly enjoyed myself, with a wonderful stress free holiday. Am I glad I didn't read Tripadvisor before I went. :cloud9:

have stayed on I-drive. The traffic at most times of the day is horrible.
I hate having to even drive down there. And yes I always go to DWD in
Oct and Nov.

My family and I stayed at the Holiday Inn in May 2005. The pool and pool area were great, but I have to say that we stayed in the small annex and would recommend that people request not to stay there. The initial room we were placed in was the first on the block and the noise/smell for the close by kitchen area was enough to make us not even put the key in the door and return to the desk asking for a move. We were placed in another room in the annex and although close to the pool, the rooms were quite shabby, drab and need of a refurb - the tower rooms certainily looked more roomy and bright.

This year we stayed in the Quality Inn Plaza at the other end of I-drive and found there to be a lot less traffic at the Seaworld end as opposed to the Universal end of I-drive.

I suppose, like anywhere there are good and bad experiences. I would be prepared to stay there again, but would request a room in the main tower block.

I have tried to stay away from this thread as I do not want to offend but..

We stayed in the Holiday Inn Internation Drive in May and we truly hated it but we are Disney fans (and DVC members) and one of our friends arranged this holiday and did not want to interfere. We are obviously biased but definately did not feel that this was a four star hotel. The rooms are extremely large (we were in the tower). If you have not stayed on site before or do not get into the magic of Disneyworld then I am sure you will have no complaints.

My family and one other (who had never been to USA) felt this hotel and its location was a bit like staying in Tenerife. The other two families really liked it which shows that we all have different opinions.

I hope you have a great time. Let us know what you thought.

We stayed Holiday Inn last year, was ok, just dont expect too much & you only sleep there so as long as its clean i am reasonably happy, saying that though, we much prefer Disney hotels, & we usually stay 1 week on I-Drive for universal & 1 week in a Disney hotel to do the Dis parks (followed by Dis cruise :goodvibes - would sooner do cheaper hotels & get my cruise fix!!).
We are trying Quality Inn Plaza next year (for week - then moving on to Disney hotel, then gulf coast) Just to see what the 'other' end of i-drive is like! Any info on this hotel???

Wifey: i sent you a PM
