Hi Guys I was on a quest yesterday to find a hotel off-site that had some of the things I wanted and another Dis-er recommended the Holiday Inn Family Suites. I booked the hotel this morning it seems like a really great deal.. I was wondering if anyone else could tell me about their experiences there. I was able to book it for $106/night, for a 2 bedroom Kidsuite, there is also free breakfast buffet, and kids eat free at the restaurant, and free transportaion to all WDW parks. Does it sound like a good deal to you guys??

Miniefan,

I had a ressie in September and changed my mind! It looks great and I think it will be awesome next year after the renovations.

The only down side is the last trip back from WDW at 12:30pm and they don't start back up until 5pm. With 2 little ones I wanted a little more opportunity to come back to the hotel during the afternoon.

The other thing is that the zero depth pool will be closed in Sept. I am not sure when it will be open again. The family pool is still available.

Otherwise great deal!

we are booked for our first trip!! :bounce:

our stay will be Sept. 25th- Oct. 2nd we got the Entertainment Book rate of $79 a night for the 2 bedroom kidsuite :)

We are going in about 2 weeks!! First time at HIFS. I am a bit...nervous about it. But I have heard mostly good reviews (check out tripadvisor.com). Mostly I am worried about the shuttle, too. And the availability of taxis. I will fill you in when we return!

HIFS is the only place we stay ..We love it...The breakfast alone is worth it..its not just rolls it is eggs, meat, ceral (hot and cold, fruit , yogurt, pancakes, french toast, hash browns, etc and it is free we have 5 in our family so we save easily 20-30 a day on jsut breakfast...the pool is awesome...kids eat free for lunch and dinner...And 106 is awesome...the bedrooms each have a tv..the kids has nintendo and they have a phone they can call for a bedtime story...You will not regret staying here..!!

This looks like a great deal you have found.

 Can you tell who did you booked it with? The best price I could find on the web is $129/night :(

I read somwhere last night that HIFS has one pool closed and some renovations are taking place at the moment? Anybody hear about this or was I dreaming?

If there is a coupon in the Entertainment book that gets a rate of $79/night I would definately suggest going to mousesavers and buying the Entertainment book for $10. We stayed there in 2000 and had a great time. The food is just so so, but my kids really enjoyed the pool. The shuttle was very new then so it may have been operating more than it does now, but we had no complaint at all.

I looked at the entertainment book and the only rate it could give me during our stay is $134/night which is almost nearly the rack rate, $79 would have been great though. I'm not all that concerned with the shuttles because we are driving down, so we will have a car, I may use it if my dh,and ds decide to go back to USO,IOA and I don't want to go with them. Thanks everyone for you input so far. If anyone else has info they'd like to share please do so.
Thanks, Kim

I had to call to get the $79 rate, gave them the dates and asked for the E Book rate :)

We were booked there for our February trip but then got a great rate at AKL and switched. The only thing I would suggest is getting a rental car. To me, their shuttle service didn't sound so great, very limited times and you have to reserve in advance. With little ones I'd want more flexibility than it offers.

Otherwise I've read mostly great reviews and hope you have a terrific time! :sunny:

We stayed there in 2001 and it was fantastic! I would highly recommending getting a car though. The shuttle service didn't look good and the lines where long waiting when we walked by.

I would also be concerned if the zero entry pool was closed. That was my kids highlight of the place (they'd rather swim than be in a park, silly kids!).

But if the pool is open and you rent a car, you will LOVE it :D The free, hot breakfast is great and the employees even encouraged us to fill up our mugs with soda on the way to the parks and take some fresh fruit out with us.

About the Entertainment card rate: definitely call the hotel. I just booked embassy suites near Universal for $49 a night when the E book site said it was more.

Aren't there any other Disers out there that have stayed at the HIFS, I am really starting to rethink this ress. I would love to stay on property again, I guess if nothing else HIFS will be our back up hotel... anyone know what the disney rates are like around Oct??

Does anyone know if the Entertainment book rate is still available? I've booked for August 1 -7, but couldn't get a rate better than $130/night. I even asked about the Entertainment rate, and they said it wasn't available. Any know different?
Thanks for any help!!

They told me that the entertainment book rate was no longer valid. I got the rate of 106/night but that was a Fl resident rate.

We stayed 4-29 to 5-8. We liked the hotel. Got a rate of $89 through entertainment book. Both pools were open and the only construction was in a back parking lot. The free breakfast was good. It saved time and money for us. The free nightly entertainment was fun also. The dinner buffet was just ok. Rooms had a cheerful decor. We did not use the shuttle. Got a good rate through Budget for a car. My only problem was that housekeeping forgot to clean our room one day. Told front desk and it was taken care of. I have several Refer A Friend Free Pizza Party coupons I can send to someone if they want. I will mail asap exp 12-20-04 Enjoy your stay. dreamdog@adelphia.net
