Holiday Inn Family Suites

We stayed there for a few nights last October and really enjoyed it. The breakfasts were good, as well as the dinner. And since four kids per paying adult eat for free on the dinner, it was a great deal for us.

We did not utilize the transportation for the parks though.

We are going back October '05 and I'd like to stay there again; however, DH wants to try somewhere on site so we shall see.

I am getting very anxoius because I don't know what to do now!! I am excited about HIFS, and think that it is a really great deal for the money but at the same time I am disappointed about not staying on property. Being"in the magic" just seems to make the trip so much more enjoyable. I will keep checking and see what the rates at WDW are maybe I can even beat HIFS between AAA, and Fl resident rates.

Just made my reservations too but I am wondering at what age to the stop the kids eat free? This is our first time and looks like a good place to stay!

Kids up to 12 eat free. 11 am to 5 pm at the Food land express and then til 11pm at the club car restaurant.

This is my first time posting on a thread, Thanks to all for great info. We have stayed at H.I.F.S. 3 times and our 4th is coming up June 16th. We are staying 4 nights and at Ron Jon Cape Caribe Port Canaveral 3 nights. I could not get the e-rate. They told me they stopped taking it 2 months ago. The best rate I could get was AAA for $144. I will be calling to make sure pool is open. I cannot say enough about this hotel. the extra space is great, micro, fridge and all activities. Free breakfast, (We are always at the parks for dinner or eat locally) Found the Club Car expensive. Since we have 6 going on this trip all ages, This is the hotel for us. Could not afford on-site as we would need 2 rooms.I have never felt like we had lost the magic by staying off-site. It is only 1 mile to park. On 1st day, We always eat at Chef Mickeys for a Character dinner before hitting the parks. Its a nice touch and gets everyone in disney mode.
Cant wait to see Mickey!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for update on the kids, kinda figured but was hoping lol I have another ? not sure if it ok to put it here someone let me know k but here goes. If I book through WDW res can I get a disount rate? I see people using AAA and what not just wondering. I have to make the full payment by this weekend and was wondering if I could make it a bit cheaper is all thanks again!!! and if this is in the wrong spot could someone let me know.

You can book a AAA rate through the AAA office or you can tell WDW that you are a AAA member and use their rates that way. If you are not sure then you can always compare the two and if the other one is cheaper then simply cancel one, disney has a 5 day cancellation policy and book the other. Hope this helped. BTW, thanks everyone for all the great pros and cons.

I got my 2 bedroom kidsuite for 55.00 a night through a military rate. It is an extremely nice hotel for kids.

i booked a kidsuite there for july 10-21 i used the etertaintment book and got a rate of $103 (we are military but miltary price was $119) since you guys have mentioned that they no longer take the entertainment book, is my price still valid?
thanks in advance

Could you please tell me when you booked your room using entertainment card rate. I have called 3 times and each person I get says they will not take it. Any hints? Did you call the hotel direct? Thanks!

They also told me they are no longer accepting the entertainment book, anyhow, I was at the AAA office today and they can book the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort on Irlo Bronson Hwy, for $59/night. They also have Kidsuites and all rooms have a kitchenette. I checked it out and they have alot of things for kids to do but it is not as great as HIFS. It is just something to consider I guess especially if you are not planning on spending a lot of time in your room.

We got the rate through a flyer we got at a travel show on base. The rate was only good for checkins until 5/31.

Yes tinkandhook they will honor your rate. Bring a copy of your confirmation with you.

The HIFS doesn't offer the E-rate anymore....I think because it's becoming a Nick Hotel. Too bad. I think they will lose alot of their repeat business.
i booked the E-rate in january for our june trip. $103/night

Oh well, we will enjoy HIFS in June and see where our next trip brings us.

thanks for the info... i sent an email to them asking if the pools would be closed during the time i was there, but still havent heard back from them yet.

We stayed at HIFS four years ago and were very happy there. We had our own car, so we didn't do the shuttles. We're going back to WDW in June, and I had originally planned to stay there, but their June rate is $134 per night. After booking it, I found some other places that look even nicer and are cheaper (more like $80 per night for a 2 bedroom), so I'm cancelling our HIFS stay.

Some info on HIFS,
1. They are doing construction, but I think the new pool will be completed by the time you arrive. Even if it's not, you'll be okay. Right now they are changing the quieter lap pool into a Nickelodean pool with slides and water toys -- this according to the reservationist when I called a few weeks ago. The will not close their other kid pool (the zero entry) for remodeling until the Nick pool is completed. So either way, you'll either have the current kid pool (the zero entry) or the new even more fun pool.

2. Are your kids small? The ONLY bad thing I've heard others complain of about the place is that the second bedroom (ours had bunks and I think most do) had beds that were actually a bit smaller than twin beds. If you have young children like I do, it's not a big deal; teens could be a problem. Also, just so you're aware, the kid's room does not have a door. The master bedroom does. Not a big deal for us, but if your kids nap, you might need to put them in the master bedroom for quiet.

3. The living room area is relatively small -- not a lot of space for toys and such if the kids want to spread out on the floor. This might be the case in a lot of suites though. Having a kitchen was awesome.

4. Kids do eat free, which is nice. The restaurants were okay; breakfast was fine.

5. From what I understand, they quit accepting the Entertainment card about a month ago. That's a bummer. I know others who got a June rate of $104 per night.

If I can answer any more specific questions, just let me know. Feel free to pm me.
