So, I'll be heading to Fitness Ridge (the Biggest Loser resort) in December for 4 weeks. My stay will actually be during Christmas and New Years, and for a little cost savings, I decided to do the "shared accommodation" option. This basically means I'll be sharing a room with someone on Christmas morning that I've known for less than a week. :rotfl:

Was wondering if anyone had any gift ideas for my roommate. I feel like I should get her a little something, but I have no idea what since I will know nothing about her until I get there. Understandably, for privacy reasons, they don't give out that information prior to your arrival. So, this person could be younger, older, very out of shape and just starting a fitness routine, or i pretty decent shape and just there for a "tune up."

Obviously, gifts that involve food are out. ;) But I'm up for any other suggestions... from homemade gifts to personalized to purchased. I was thinking people here might have some fitness related ideas. I'm guessing basics like socks and Body Glide are out though since most people stock up on those things before going.

Thanks for any ideas you can throw my way!

Well, I have one idea and I'll completely understand if it is not a good idea as I'm not sure what is recommended to bring or what people just assume they should have there. But, a few weeks ago my friend and I took a short, weekend trip and I was shocked how much hand and body lotion we used. That and body wash. I had brought plenty, but I don't think she brought any, except a bit of body wash. I buy Aveeno or store-brand Aveeno because that's what works well for me. It's somewhat expensive, but I get a good deal on it at CVS. I used to love Bath & Body Works, but love how Aveeno comes in unscented varieties.

I know sometimes giving a gift of body wash can give the wrong perception, but I do think lotion, particularly a high-quality one is acceptable. Of course, she might have packed plenty herself.

Now that I'm thinking about it...what about a small gift certificate to Macy's? They sell sports bras and one can never have enough of those. ;)

Good luck!

Oh, what a nice idea. I'm thinking that this is one situation in which it truly is the thought that counts, and whatever you give her will be more than she was expecting. My fitness related gift ideas are:

The Buff multi-use garment. I have one and wear it in fitness classes as a sweatband/something to keep hair out of my face. There are lots of other ways to wear it, as well and I get comments on it all the time.

I also love this microfiber pack towel - I bring it with me when I travel, take it to the gym etc. etc.

And even if you pack plenty of socks, a pair of Smartwool Socks is always appreciated. Cool in the summer, warm in the winter! And cute too!

Lotion is definitely a good idea. :thumbsup2 I also have grown to appreciate this Lip balm with SPF

Also good might be the Mary Kay Satin Hands gift set - so nice and relaxing, even my kids enjoy getting Satin Hands!

And my last suggestion: a pretty Sigg water bottle - or other water bottle. Even if she's already got one, it is nice to have a spare!

Great ideas - thanks so much!

Was just thinking today (as sweat was pouring down my face) that I need some kinda of cloth/towel I can wear without going full retro-70s sweat band. :rotfl:

And a nice little spa basket might be good even if she has the essentials... I'm sure we'll all be hurting and could use some pampering!

Thanks again :)

That reminds me - Biofreeze is great for sore muscles and tired feet. If I were going, I'd definitely bring some along.

Have a wonderful time - I'd love to hear about your experience there - I've been so curious about that resort since they announced it!

WOW... you're really going to Fitness Ridge?! That's so cool! I can't wait for a report when you return!

How about a motivational book or CD? DD is recommending perhaps a Chicken Soup for the Soul book or something like that. Or perhaps a pretty journal and matching pen? ......................P
