Hello

Quick question, when do they start putting out the holiday decorations? I know MGM and Osbourne lights start on Nov 12 according to Disneyworld.com but when does the holly and Christmas decorations start going up?

My guess is right after Halloween and MNSHP. It seems it would take alot of time to get all the stuff up.

TYIA!
Jeff

They're definetly up by Thanksgiving day- but I'm with you...... there are probably some things up in Mid November..... at least that's what I'm counting on!!

We just got back from our trip two days ago. I was a little upset because the lights are already up for Christmas at MGM but not being lit. I felt all the wires took away from the charm of New York street and almost made it look messy. It really seemed wired having Christmas decorations up all over the place while we were there to celebrate Halloween. It did not look like any Christmas lights were up yet anywhere other than MGM. Hope this info helps you out.

The lights actually go up overnight (while you are sleeping)... WDW has a Christmas Services team that comes out and works like the little elves in the night to get the stuff up. It takes about 6-8 hours to do a hotel lobby. The entire property is set up in about 3 days. I do not remember the exact date that they are putting them up this year, but when they told us we were all suprised at how early it was (compared to past years). I want to say it will be the first or second week in November this year.

Who did you ask?

The Osbourne lights have been up since late September, at least. It didn't bother me much but it isn't that magical, I agree. Five million lights must take quite a long time, so I can't blame them. I was wondering it they ever came down! Anyway, no matter when they start, they finish the day after Thanksgiving.

I believe that, for the most part, the day after halloween, the Christmas stuff starts coming out.

Ok when we were there the week after Labor Day, they were putting up all of the lights in the backlot area of MGM.....totally Chirstmas...not something else...we were actually thinking maybe they were doing something like filming a special or something because it seemed really early....they did not turn them on... they were just putting them up

I'm guessing it's just right before thanksgiving is when you actually would start seeing any evidents of holiday decorations at the parks.

YEAH!!!!!! I get there on November 12- maybe they'llb e up by then! WHere do you work on Main STreet? Maybe I'll come in to say hi!

One year we were at POR. We checked out the first week in Nov...when we went to bed the night before check-out, all was just as it normally was. When we woke up and went through the lobby, there was the most gorgeous Christmas tree!! It seemed to grow overnight....a lot of the other holiday decorations were up too. They must have been very busy little elves that night.
Someone, at one time, had a listing for the dates different decorations were going up, and where. Maybe someone has a similar list for this year??

I know this might sound weird (especially since I love Christmas decorations!) but as our trip next November will be our first to the World, I was hoping to see it as it is, without decorations, so I could appreciate all the normal details.

I guess I'll just have to enjoy it all :) no matter what is up or not - we're taking the kids out of school, we can't take the summer heat or crowds! - and I've isolated only a couple of times during the year that none of them will be involved in a heavy testing schedule.
