Holding Points Confusion

I have 21 points in holding that must be used by Aug 31 of 2006. I also know that I can use them only to book a ressie that is 60 days or less prior to check -in. That is the extent of my knowledge about holding points.

What are my options with holding points? Can I use them to book a moderate if no DVC is available?

Can I transfer them to another member?

What else might I be able to do in order not to lose them?

I believe the best alternative is to rent them to some one if your are not going to be able to use them. I don't think you can transfer points that are in holding, not 100% sure on this one.

Yes, but you must make the reservation at least 60 days prior to the end of your use year. The "60 Day Rule" applies. (You must call to make the reservation at least 60 days before your use year ends if you want to stay at a non-DVC option during the last 60 days of your use year). It can be a little tricky figuring out how to comply with both the holding account rules and the 60 day rule.

Can I transfer them to another member?

Maybe. We have had differing reports on this question - You really need to call MS to see if this is possible. If the CM says yes, be sure to note his/her name and the date & time of your call.

What else might I be able to do in order not to lose them?

Add more points and make a reservation to rent.

Add more points and make a late deposit to II.

Is there something in the Conceirge Collection close to home that might make a nice weekend or Saturday night getaway for you? If so, that would be my first choice - You'll probably have to add more points to do that, though.
