what exactly do I need? I've read that I need bungi (sp?) cords. What size would I need and would I just need one, or two? Would door stops work just as well?

I used thick rubber door stops, and they worked great.

We didn't need anything. Our stateroom host had small pieces of wood that held the doors open at the top. It looked like they were made specifically for this purpose as they fit in the track at the top of the door.

Michelle is right. Our room host brought two of them (one for each door). We had my in-laws next door so we kept the door open during the day and would close it at night or while we were getting ready. Worked out great.

So it sounds like I can skip buying the cords! I was wondering if shoes would do the trick.

Our Stateroom Hosts put those pieces of wood in, but they didn't work very well. If one of the kids bumped against the door, the wood would fall out and the door would slam shut. I would use a rubber door stop. I'd also recommend keeping the door locks sticking out so that if the door slams shut, the door doesn't lock. My friend got locked out of her cabin when this happened to us and since her room keys were in her cabin and everyone was in my cabin, it meant a trip down to Guest Services to get another key. Also, we rolled a towel and kept it on the floor of the door jamb so that if it slammed shut, little fingers wouldn't get caught.

Where can I buy those rubber door stops? And the rolled towel on the floor is a good idea! We have lots of little fingers in the family.

Lilo5...you can find the rubber door stops in the "hardware" section of Target or WalMart, etc.

We actually used the half moon stools to hold each one open. I wish our host would have offered to put the wooden stops in the doors, though.

I agree that the little wooden sticks were not very helpful. The slightest jar and it would fall out. Pre cruise I read these boards about the bungee cords and thought we would be fine, but I did regret not having something else there to hold the doors open to be able to come and go freely between rooms. Do yourself a favor and take something specifically to hold these dorrs open.
