Hold my umbrella while I find your poncho! A May 2012 TR-- NEW-FINALLY! 1/17; pg. 29

I think you had quite a successful day at HS, in spite of the rain!

We spent a day much like that at HS during Tropical Storm Faye in 2008. I think it is the wettest I have ever been at Disney. Well, until this year.

Nice call on ToT before RnR!

Thanks so much for posting the awesome Beauty and the Beast pictures. I DO have all boys, so the only time I have seen this show was solo. I have to sacrifice watching the Indiana Jones show to get in viewings of B&B and Little Mermaid.

How did Reid and Kevin like Sci Fi?

I would love to do the Animation Academy sometime- again, the boys don't have a lot of interest in this. Were you able to keep your drawings dry? HOW???

:yay: for meeting Lisa and her family!!! Isn't it cool having a bunch of friends, even if we haven't all met in person (yet).

:wave2: Hey Michelle

I haven't been around the dis much and am very excited to find your TR isn't too far along yet!!

I know you probably think it's a bit of a pain but I'm really quite jealous you are close enough to drive! With it being 2 REALLY long days or 3 not so bad driving days, the time factor it would require for us to drive just doesn't make sense. I might be able to convince hubby into more frequent trips if we didn't have the added expense of travel

I'm very jealous you got to stay at the poly...someday :cloud9:

Sounds like you had a great day at AK. I too don't love walking around soaked so I'm glad you were spared (twice!). Flights of Wonder is the only attraction in AK I haven't done yet so it's on my must do list next trip. Last safari of the day...noted!

I was so excited to see on FB that you got to be first family!!! I agree with your kids, that is like being president! Sorry your kids didn't like EO...mine enjoyed it and as a child of the 80's, I loved it too! How nice of the CM to give Reid pins to replace his lost ones :thumbsup2

You got a lot done early at DHS!! Tell your about-to-be-college-student that this 40 year old would also jump in line to see Pooh in a heartbeat  I'm impressed at how easily your kids deal with waiting, I would be yelling at mine to keep their hands off each other!!

LOOOve the Pluto drawing!!! I did animation station once our last trip (we drew Stitch) and dd and dh did it 3 times each!! So its a very popular stop for us at HS. I wish I had gotten to draw pluto - hes so cute!!

We've drawn Stitch, Mickey(twice), Goofy, Dopey(dwarf), and Pluto. The first time we ever did it was back in 2010, and the girls loved it. We went through three straight classes. :thumbsup2

Sci-Fi seems to be hit-or-miss, but we love it! I agree, the food isn't fabulous... but if you stick with burgers and shakes, you'll be fine!

I think your Pluto is very well done! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Shannon! :)

That's exactly right about Sci-Fi---Stick with the burgers and shakes!

I'm enjoying your TR! I'm also from ALabama and a middle school teacher!! I envy how much you guys can get done in the parks. I have 2 little boys and there is never enough time!

:welcome: Glad to have a fellow Alabama girl (and middle school teacher) here!

I remember those days with little kids. Each trip they would be a little older, and we would be able to get more and more done. And, now, I'm sending one off to college next month!

Kevin and Reid both liked Sci-Fi. I knew Reid would, because he loves his tv! I knew he would just love to sit and zone out in front of the movie screen. Kevin appreciated the atmosphere, as I knew he would. He is really into old cars-bought and restored one a few years ago--so he thought the cars were really cool. I caught him bent down, checking out the car! :rotfl:

We rolled the drawings up, used a pony-tail holder to wrap around and put them in our backpacks.

I love having so many DIS friends! :thumbsup2 My girls are always making fun of me, but then they always enjoy meeting everyone too. They always leave, saying, "She (he) was so nice." I think they must believe y'all are all figments of my imagination! :lmao:

Hi Katie! I'm so glad to see you back here on the DIS! :)

I really don't mind the drive--Of course I'd rather fly, but the cost for the five of us is just so much more than driving it.

We had a good trip, even with the rain, and got to experience some new things like Captain EO---which, by the way-I was singing along with too! (Another child of the 80's!)

Your family is beautiful!

I too love Sci-Fi for the atmosphere and we go there every trip. Is it just me or do they need to update the "movie reel"?

Thank you for sharing, can't wait for the rest!

Lisa

I was behind a couple of updates but am all caught up now. We got caught in the rain that day too but waited it out in the Tower of Terror store. It was so nice to meet you all. I told Lacey that it was just my luck that I had just taken off my hat when you spotted us. I looked like a drowned rat! :rotfl2:

Thanks! :goodvibes

I don't even really pay that much attention to the movies to tell you the truth! But I did notice that they were showing Tom and Jerry cartoons, and Reid loves T and J! My dad has gotten him hooked on those old cartoons! Reid was so excited when Tom and Jerry came across the screen. That's the only one I noticed!

Lisa, you're so funny! You looked just fine---If you looked like a drowned rat, then we all did!

I enjoyed meeting you and your family and spending just a little Disney time talking! :thumbsup2

I noticed they put a purple flower in your welcome layes. Mine was all yellow.
I can't believe your family stays all day in a park, my family starts whining any time after 2.
Enjoying your TR, I always see you post on other people"s TR, and I thought you were from New Hamphire, I read your username wrong.

I was so worried that I missed updates of three days at the park and find I just missed your Studios Day. Thank God!

I can't believe all the rain you guys encountered, but you sure made the best of it. How can TSM have a 70 minute wait 15 minutes after opening...that is just insane; but the ride is so much fun.

I'm with you...the food is only so-so at Sci Fi (although they have great onion rings), but it is just a cool place to eat.

Gotta love kids and their phones and their tweets, and their FB, and their games, etc. Wait, I do some of that too. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

You did a great job on drawing Pluto. :thumbsup2

We haven't met a hateful DISer yet! They have all been down-to-earth, friendly, normal people who just happen to be a little obsessive about Disney things. ::yes::

It's been a while since we've been to Sci-Fi. I don't know that Brooklynn would even remember it, to be honest. We should go again, but we're trying to check some other restaurants off of our list, too, and you just can't get them all in. It's a good problem to have, I suppose. :)

Those few days with the rain were just brutal werent they....:sad1: You guys sure make the best of a rainy day though:thumbsup2

We feel the same way about Sci Fi....I do love the BLT soup on a rainy day. We go strictly for the atmosphere too....brings back great childhood memories!

Sci Fi really is about the atmosphere more than anything. However, the shakes are such a nice treat after a hot day in the parks. :thumbsup2

Your Pluto is very good!

I can't believe how much rain you guys encountered while in Disney...seems like you can't escape it! :sad2:

How cool that you were able to meet a DISer; it's so much fun seeing someone you know from the boards, if only because you know you both have something in common.

Great update! I've only been to Sci-Fi once, and while the food was good, it is definitely the atmosphere that makes it worth going back to! :thumbsup2 I'm torn for my November trip, because I really want to try 50's PT, because hello, fried chicken or pot roast? Yum! But I'm nervous I'm going to get a server who's really into it and yell at me and make me cry or something, so I kind of want to switch to Sci-Fi! :rotfl:

I love your Pluto drawing! :cool1: I really want to draw one of the classic characters, I'm going to have to try to fit in a lot of the drawing classes on my next trip!

Ugh, rain...I had so much rain on my trips in October and December! I mean, it's not so bad if you are mostly inside, but if it's pouring and you are walking around, it gets frustrating! :rotfl2:

You got a lot packed into that day, and didn't let that rain bully you around ;) I'm very impressed with your rides, especially with the new fast pass rules. I love Sci-Fi too, and watching the movie reels. I also like watching the tv shows over at 50's PTC and even got some I Married Joan DVDs one Christmas because I loved watching it there so much :)
Glad nothing was lost that day (well except charge to your cell :rotfl:) and that fun was had by all!!!

The 50's Prime Time is great!! The fried chicken and pot roast are awesome. I didn't care too much for the meatloaf though. And of course the desserts are very, very good. I like 50's much better than Sci-Fi.

Ugh, that rain reminds me of our first few days this trip. That sideways wind and downpour--no fun. Good thing when it's really heavy like that it doesn't usually last too long.

Love the Pluto!! We only did a 3/4 day at DHS this time so missed the Animation Academy. :( Next time. I really wanted to do it. We did to the LMA stunt show, though, which my kids (not surprisingly) LOVED. It was lots of fun!

I know you said the Sci Fi is just average, but I am telling you I seriously want a chocolate shake now. ;)

Great update!

I understand! ;)

Rachel turned 16 in April, and got her license---the second test time!

Justin's birthday is in April too! The 15th, when is Rachel's?

Sounded like you got alot out of your DHS day even with all the stupid rain :thumbsup2

We love Sci-Fi for lunch, but YES stick to the burgers and milkshakes!

I'm enjoying your trip report and like (and appreciate) your title. We were right there with you and Tropical Storm Beryl (May 24-June 2). It definitely made for an adventure and memories!

ETA: I thought you would appreciate this picture from Monday, May 28th and the view from our lunch at Earl of Sandwich at DD. They had to open the doors and sweep the water back out of the restaurant! That might have been the moment when we knew the rain was definitely going to affect our trip!

WOW! Just WOW!

Thanks for sharing that photo.

We've actually gotten the ones that are all yellow, and ones that are all pink on different occasions!

Never even been to New Hampshire! ;) Glad you're reading along! :)

I think they were just a little dishonest on the posted wait time now that I think about it!

Thanks! :)

We haven't met a hateful DISer yet! They have all been down-to-earth, friendly, normal people who just happen to be a little obsessive about Disney things. ::yes::

I completely agree! :thumbsup2

It also helps that I can share my obsession with others, and not drive my family entirely crazy!

Might as well keep on going during the rain! :)

I love the shakes! Of course, I love a shake anywhere, anytime!

I love having DIS meets! I always enjoy meeting folks that I've talked to here on the boards!
