Hold my umbrella while I find your poncho! A May 2012 TR-- NEW-FINALLY! 1/17; pg. 29

During our first family trip in '07, I bought these child-sized Disney fanny packs for my DDs to wear to hold their sunglasses, snack, etc. My oldest DD (6 at the time) had a habit of taking hers off when she got in a ride that had a lap bar. It was only a matter of time for her to leave it in a car... she forgot to grab it as we were getting off the Winnie the Pooh ride. Of course, by the time we realized where she had left it and walked back to the attraction, it was no longer there. The CM told us to check at the lost and found at the TTC... thank goodness it was there!

We have a few of those Hibachi-style Japanese restaurants around town, so Teppan Edo isn't someplace I think of to eat at while at WDW. But everything I've heard/read about it has been positive.

Sorry to hear that Reid lost his lanyard! So glad that the CM was willing to throw some pixie dust your way!

Great update! That was nice of the CM to help with the pins--love that Disney magic! pixiedust: Teppan Edo looks yummy! We've never seen the candy lady before...that is so cool!

Thanks! I thought it was very nice of her. Of course, it wasn't the same four pins he had originally, but he traded the ones he didn't like (ones he thought were too "girly") for others during the next days.

Did Reid have any idea in advance about Beverly?

I don't think so. He's a pretty sharp kid, so he was a little skeptical about why we were insisting that he try that particular flavor. But he went ahead and did it! Sucker! :rotfl:

UGH....I was two updates behind...sorry.

Too funny about Kevin taking a nap...but no proof...while you and Reid went in search of the lanyard. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

That's ok, Kathy! I know you have a lot going on right now with Mark's mother. Thinking about y'all!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he napped---sitting upright on the bench!

Count me in! Your trip looks great so far:thumbsup2

:welcome: I'm so glad you're reading!

I love that shop as you leave World Showcase too. . .one day I'm going to get the zipper hoodie with the international flag mickey heads on it!

I know I feel like a doof for not taking our pic, especially when my camera was right there on the table next to me :headache:

I saw some mugs there with all those little flag Mickey heads. I thought they were so cute!

Well, same for me--It's not like I couldn't have walked back to my table for my camera. Heaven knows I walked back and forth to those dessert tables enough times! :rotfl:

Does your daughter's shirt say "I love FHU"....as in Freed Hardeman University?

Yes, that's the one! :) Did you go to school there?

Great update! Teppan Edo is one place we considered eating at but didn't. It sounds really good!

We didn't spend much time in the Japan pavilion, and as a result, didn't go into Mitsukoshi. I think I'm going to keep that quiet from my bey blade loving boys. ;)

Looking forward to the next update!!

We enjoy Teppan Edo, even though it's not very different from any hibachi style Japanese place we may have at home. It's Disney, so it's more fun! ;)

I understand about keeping the bey blade secrets from your boys!

That's cool you got to see the candy lady. I remember catching the end of one of her shows but I'd love to see the whole thing. It is pretty cool she can make all those animals!

This was the first time we had ever watched her show, Sara. She was amazing-so very talented! :)

You are correct! I did recognize you from your PTR pictures! It was very nice getting to chat for a couple minutes.

We love the store in Japan. There is so much to look at. My oldest finally decided to do the pick a pearl this trip. She did great! She ended up picking the largest pearl of the day. They banged the drum for longer and she was so embarrassed. It was fun!

How exciting for your daughter-not the being embarrassed part, but choosing the biggest pearl of the day! :thumbsup2

Enjoyed meeting you and talking, even if it was just for a short while. :)

Teppan Edo was so good this trip. Did the candy lady come around Teppan Edo?? We did not see this.

The good ol' Beverly. I had Sam try it too this trip. Did you tell him it tastes nasty before he tried it?

Glad you enjoyed Teppan Edo. :) The candy art was downstairs outside, right near the entrance into the store.

Of course, we didn't tell him!

Saw your TR link in your sig---Going over to check it out when I finish up here!

We love Teppan Edo but havent been in a few years! We had an ADR this trip but something much more important took its place so I didnt mind missing it one bit!

Well, now I'm curious! :)

We have a few of those Hibachi-style Japanese restaurants around town, so Teppan Edo isn't someplace I think of to eat at while at WDW. But everything I've heard/read about it has been positive.

Yeah, we have some here where we live, but everything is so much more fun at Disney! :thumbsup2 It's nice to sit down, and have your kids entertained while your dinner is being cooked.

Sorry to hear that Reid lost his lanyard! So glad that the CM was willing to throw some pixie dust your way!

Just goes to show how Disney goes above and beyond on so many occasions, in my mind! :thumbsup2

Yes, that's the one! :) Did you go to school there?

I did not, but my husband did. We do live in Henderson though, so it was cool and surprising to be reading your trip report and seeing that t-shirt. Small world!

The Voices of Liberty sing at different times (you have to check the times guide), and they sing a number of folk/patriotic songs acapella. (not sure on the spelling there). When they sang "Ole Susanna", one of the guys walked over to where I was sitting, he kneeled on one knee, and took my hand and sang. Then when he stood up to walk back, he didn't let go of my hand, but made it look like I was the one holding on to him!

Hearing Voices of Liberty is always a treat.

Teppan Edo - yum!

We are on a looong afternoon break at Pop because of the rain, so I am sneaking in a tiny bit of DIS time.

Ugh about Reid losing his lanyard! I can relate -- my two are forever leaving things places. Yesterday, Chelsea left the pool key at the pool, and we had to go find it. :headache: That was very nice of the Norway CM to give him pins.

Chelsea would have done the exact same thing as your girls while they waited. ::yes::

Sounds like a lovely meal and score on seeing the candy lady! :thumbsup2

We love Teppan Edo ! It's one thing my boys WILL eat .. ;)

Sorry about the pins and lanyard .. but glad the CM gave him pins to replace the ones he lost. The boys lost 2 vinylmations this last trip .. thats $24 down the drain. :sad2:

Glad to see you making the best of the rain .. again. :thumbsup2

Too bad they couldn't find Reid's lanyard. But how sweet for the CM to offer him 4 replacements. We've had pretty good luck retrieving our lost things at the Central Lost & Found at the TTC over the years.

I've never seen the candy lady either, but those animals are amazing!

Poor Reid! The boy was having problems keeping up with his stuff wasn't he? At least the CM was kind enough to replace the four pins that he lost.

We've never eaten at Teppan Edo but it sure does look good.

Love Teppan Edo, thinking of adding an ADR there in September, but I have so many already that a small CS meal the night I'm looking at is probably a better idea....

Even though every trip I say I'm going to make a point to see the candy lady, I still haven't! Fingers crossed for this time :thumbsup2

That might be the cutest towel animal I've seen yet!

Yes, it is! :goodvibes

Always love hearing VoL! :)

Hope y'all are having a fun trip, despite the rain!

The joys of teenage girls! ;)

Aww, sorry! I feel your pain! :)

The candy lady is amazing! It's not a long show-maybe 15 to 20 minutes-definitely worth stopping to watch! :thumbsup2

That boy would lose his head if it wasn't attached! :lmao:

So exciting that you're planning a trip for September. I'm guessing this is for your family?

Make a point to watch the candy show this time! :thumbsup2

I'm really enjoying your TR, you guys seem like such a fun family!:goodvibes

I'm so sorry that Reid lost his pin lanyard, was it ever recovered? I once left my pins in a restuarant, and when I realized what I had done I was in an absolute panic (I was wearing my beloved Alice in Wonderland pins :) ). I was so grateful to the CMs who found it and returned it to me, and I hope the same happened for your son!

I've never seen the Candy lady, but I may just be able to fit her in on my next trip. It seems like such a neat talent!

Sort of, just me, my youngest and my mom. Don is done with WDW for awhile and my oldest is at an age where he can take it or leave it. He doesn't want to miss a week of basketball practice, so he elected not to go. I think I'm going to start a pre-TR when I get back from my cruise next week :thumbsup2

Loving your TR so far!! Samoa is the longhouse I want to stay in at the Poly. We're hoping for next fall!! It's my dream resort so I'm super jealous you got to stay there!!!

I'm going to try and remember to do the last safari of the day. We try and get there right away (along with everyone else) before it gets too hot. Looks like you got to see a lot of animals which is awesome!

I feel Reid's pain on leaving something on the ride. I left my camera bag on DreamFlight when I was like 10 (where Buzz Lightyear in MK is now) I was so upset. Luckily someone found it and mailed it back to me (I had gotten bored at the airport and put the little Delta free paper luggage tags on everything we had brought with us so the person just sent it back to me.)

Can't wait to read more!!

We were there during the same time period. We did have to fight the rain a lot. We were at Epcot on this same day. The first time it rained, we managed to get into The Seas-Nemo attraction. Somehow we manged to avoid the rain all day and didn't have to break out the ponchos and umbrella. Can't say that about the rest of our trip though.

You are so lucky! I have never gotten a really good pic of the lions. Yours are awesome!
