HoJo's or Hilton Anaheim?

We're planning our first trip to DL in August. We've narrowed it down to two hotel choices, but can't decide which one and I would like some input.

1) HoJos -- I've always liked HoJo's and you can't find as many of them anymore. Within walking distance. No Disney view available and is more expensive.

2) Hilton -- Pics look nicer overall, but I realize that may deceiving. We could get a Disney view for a little less money than HoJo's, but it's farther away and everything I've read here and elsewhere recommends walking to a DL parking lot and catching a tram -- not my idea of fun.

Which would you choose? I think we're leaning towards HoJo's, but I can't keep forgetting that we could have a Disney view at the Hilton for less -- but then again, the distance factor -- see -- I just can't decide!

TIA for your input -- and yes, I've already done many searches here on this topic. :)

now do you plan on sitting in your room looking at the park or will you be in the park doing something???? to me a hotel room is a place to hold my clothes, take a shower and sleep. i'd much rather take a hotel with in walking distance over one with a view.

Texas, what're the dates of your stay?

You'll find a lot of HoJo's fans on this board. One of the managers there, Lorealle, posts here and she is a wonderful source of help and info. HoJo's does have a Disney view, and if you luck out and your dates are available, you might be able to get the Entertainment book rate. Right now you can get an Ent book for $15., and the rate, when available, is $74. a night (before taxes). This is for a deluxe, just renovated room with a balcony facing Disneyland, pillowtop mattress, fridge and microwave. We're staying there in October, and we saved $40 a night for our room.

Here's a link to the Ent. rate dates: http://www.hojoanaheim.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14

I stayed at the Hilton years ago, it's quite nice. We got the entertainment rate, with a Disney View at Hojo's in June. Were excited to stay there.

Another reason to go HoJo: they will have their new Pirate themed pool with slide opened by August.

Email Lorealle at lorealle.bishop@hojoanaheim.com and make sure you ask for the Disboards 15% discount to bring your rate down.

Thanks, y'all for the info. I really appreciate it! When we woke up this morning, we already were leaning more towards HoJos and after reading all your tips, we're even more so now. Looks like we'll be able to get the rate down at HoJos to at least what the Hilton is if not less. Thanks everyone!

I think the Hilton is under some sort of rehab too - might want to check into that.

We are planning on staying at both properties in June. If you'd like feedback after that trip as to which I preferred, just let me know...
:)

[You can also let me know of any specific information you are looking for pertaining to each individual hotel, and I'll do my best to find out.]

I did both of the hotels on my last trip and the walk from the Hilton is a long one at the beginning of the day, and even longer at night. We were glad when we switched mid trip to HoJo's.

Cinderlala - I just sent you a PM with a question. Thanks for offering to help (I hope it is extended to me . . . :worship: )

Doesn't the Hilton also charge $14 per day for parking?

Yes, the Hilton does charge for parking---and now it is $15 per day for self-parking, and $19 per day for valet parking. So that's definitely something to keep in mind.
