HoJo Pool Question

Well- I took the plunge, but I don't think I'm going to be very popular! :\

I felt fine while I was in the pool. It felt cold at first when I got in, but after I got my head wet- I was fine. I was very cold when I got out, but that had everything to do with the temperature outside- and unfortunately, we cannot control that aspect.

Now you guys are all wishing I hadn't gotten in!

You're spot on with your observations, Lorealle! :) When we were there in mid Oct. it did feel a bit cold to get into the water - but it certainly wasn't that hard to walk into the coolness of it, and once in, it really was the perfect temp. If a pool feels too warm when you get in, it's not comfortable to swim in, IMO. I asked my husband just now what he thought about the temp of the pool, and he agreed that it was great swimming at Hojo's, good temp. for swimming. When we got out of the pool, the weather was hot, so we were lucky. Thanks for taking the dive and jumping in!

Well I switched to Anaheim Plaza so I don't really care one way or another. But thanks for taking time to try it out. :santa:

Lorealle, I think that checking it out in Fall is different from when most peoples' trips were. Even if it's the same temp, it's going to feel warmer when the air is colder...

Also, were there any kids involved in the experiment? They often get colder faster.

Those questions asked...when DH and DS used the pool last time we stayed, they had no problems with the temperature.

But I do think that the temp should be bumped up to a really nice temperature (way up in the 80s, at least), so there's not much "getting used to it" time involved. Many adults and kids won't just get used to it, and will just leave the pool, disgruntled. My sister in law is like that!

We're staying there in a couple of weeks. I only booked there because I was assured the pool was heated well. I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old that both love to swim, but I doubt I will be able to get their heads dunked in order for them to feel comfy. Since I have never stayed there before, I just really hope that some people's internal thermometers are different than ours and that it really is warm enough. I will be a bit disappointed if the temp isn't warm enough for the boys to swim. We are making this a real vacation and planning on a couple of non park swimming days. Had I read all the negative reviews on the pool temp before we booked, we would have stayed somewhere else where we could include swimming in the vacation . :/ Everything's pretty booked up for Thanksgiving now, in our price range.

Jennilouwho, if it helps to know, there were lots of little kids in the pool when we were there mid-October, (ages ranging from 18 mos. old and up.) They were all having fun, and no one was shivering. My kids don't dunk their heads under ever, they can only dog paddle, and they weren't too cold in the water either. :woohoo:

Thanks Jory! I hope it works out. :) It looks like it may be in the 40's here when we leave, so it may feel just fine to us.

No problem! Have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

The only reason is because I'm on a very tight budget and Anaheim Plaza was about $75 cheaper. The ET rates weren't avaliable plus I would have to buy another ET book which further drives up my costs. :santa:

While we have never stayed at HoJo (we will be staying there in Jan! :yay:), on our last trip we stayed at the Embassy Suites North SPECIFICALLY because they had an indoor pool and I thought it was FREEZING. Now I know I'm a freak (I don't even like to swim at the beach here unless it is peak summer in the middle of day) but DH and DD appear to share a polar bear gene and it didn't seem to phase them in any way. I think this may be just one of those things... I prefer bathwater and everyone else in my family prefers glacial runoff.

Now that is full service I tell you! I have to say, I have never jumped into a pool that felt warm upon entry. That would just be strange. But certainly being able to stay in comfortably while moving around moderately (not swimming laps) is important, and for us, the HOJO was just fine. My kids never complained and my husband was comfortable too. I often do go swimming, but I don't think I did that time.

Mainly just wanted to say "Way to go Lorealle". I just love your customer centric attitude there at HOJO.

I AGREE 100%! sorry to burst some bubbles but i think loreal should have a round of applause and have to say that, i do NOT think many other hotels would go to the level of service hojo does! not even close! and i think that some people may take advantage of it as well! im sorry but you are chilly when you first get into any pool. its not a hot tub! your body will acclimate and if you dont want to give it time to acclimate then tough luck, most people cant stand to get into a hot pool, since it IS a pool afterall. it should be comfortable after about 5 minutes and less if you are moving around. i think that hojo and loreal go to such an extent with their service and people should be thankful, and if you take advantage of their great service that far surpasses many hotels, then you should make sure they know you are gratefull for the service! way to go loreal and thankyou for having such a great attitude about everything and amazing customer service! i know i could NOT do what you do! lol i think you put up with lots and lots!

Eeeek :scared1:! I hope no one thought that I was maligning Lorealle and her team's amazing customer service commitment! I just wanted to say some like it hot, some don't mind it cool, and every once in a while, when the planets are aligned and the gods are all smiling everyone will enjoy the pool together for a moment or two.
But for me... I'll be at Disneyland!:banana::banana:

I just wanted to update, now that we've experienced it. We have 3 adults in our group and 2 little kids. None of us adults think the Garden Pool felt heated at all. The kids were shivering pretty bad, so we didn't stay in very long. It's been in the mid 70's. The good news is, the 1 foot deep pool definitely feels heated and so the kids still have gotten to have a fun time swimming. Overall we've really liked the Hojo's and would stay here again.
